Three cow ponies and a middle aged would-be cowgirl managed to make a podcast serving today’s counterculture. Who? You’d be surprised at the modern day “hippie.” Cowgirls and cowboys. Horse and livestock owners. Ranchers. Farmers. We work with our hands.

Not really.  Damn it.  But we tried.  We also wore make up.  Our guest, friend and fellow pod caster Kendra McGhaha, and I discuss every thing under sun including our shared love of donkeys,  filters on social media, waiting for the other shoe to drop (usually we just Trip Over Flat Surfaces, The Pod Cast- BOOYAH extra points for in-description reference to a Guest's podcast) and then we swapped origin stories for her pod cast and mine.  For what it's worth, my first pod cast was created with my black cat Biggie sitting shotgun right in our bathroom. #truestory #TMI?We cover down on just about any topic you can think of, including our horses, farming, middle age, and the energy  of The Annex, where we recorded this session.  I swear.  As usual.  Kendra mostly behaves but not entirely.  Can't say you weren't warned.  Just remember this is two chicks broadcasting in a shop window, while dancing around in Daisy Dukes.  KIDDING.  Not Really.  Or a I?  Listen and find out. ;)  Don't forget to like, subscribe, review... remember not to be a jerk in comments.  #dontstartnonewontbenone Thanks for listening!!https://www.blikkenhut.com/https://www.chichimcgiggles.comhttps://www.thecozybarncafe.com/https://www.itripoverflatsurfaces.comhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/mcgiggles-the-red-herd-a-counterculture-podcast/id1613064504?i=1000567589247https://www.instagram.com/chichi7062/https://www.facebook.com/chichisredherd/

The Red Herd is joined by international artist Ethan Samaha, along with previous co-host Marielle Fontein D'Errico.  We talk to this homegrown young artist about all things - big ideas, tiny details,- "great and small."  We discuss his first large scale exhibit at The Blikken Hut in Berryville, VA on 24 and 25 June (today and tomorrow).  Ethan also gets us caught up on what it's like to work with electricity, the impact of a looming neon shortage (thanks for nothing, Putin, jerk) and how, as I like to point out, "all politics are local."  Please come by the Hut and the Annex to meet and visit with Ethan and friends.  The Hut is located at 11 S. Church St, Berryville, VA.  www.blikkenhut.comwww.chichimcgiggles.com@chichi7062@chichisredherd

Mr. McGiggles is M.I.A., so it's just two cowgirls doing their thing in the window... Welcome to The Annex!

Mr. McGiggles flakes out, but no worries.  Because we have Marielle Fontein D'Errico, local entrepreneur, fellow window dancer (long story- listen to the podcast), cowgirl worken' off an OTTB, all around tough chick, and international woman of intrigue.  We discuss her latest business venture in lovely and authentically quaint Berryville, VA called The Blikken Hut, how she likes ponies too (ponies are wicked and naughty and we like them), all the new opportunities in Clarke County, Virginia (unless you want to subdivide in which case, go away), and how she might have to join the podcast on a regular basis.  We'd really like to welcome and thank our local listeners.  This is a home grown podcast and, as we say in this episode "Small is Better, But Growth is Necessary."  Or something like that.  Please give us a listen, leave a review, and subscribe

In this episode, we visit a little more with podcast Hostess ChiChi's guest co-host (and husband), Kelly McGiggles.  Happy to report this week that we won't need to apologize to the Fox Hunters.  However, on the downside, my better half DOES refer to an entire country as being sissies.  Utterly irrational but if you know Kelly IRL, you know he has a mighty roar that rarely translates into a genuine attack.  I mean, there is a reason his nickname in the family is "fragile flower" and "kitten."  True story.  We also discuss future guests and would love to know who ya'll would like us to seek out.  Please give us a listen.  Subscribe.  Maybe leave us a kind review.  We'd also love to see you on our social media platforms.  Thanks!Insta:  https://www.instagram.com/chichi7062/Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/chichisredherd/Discord: ChiChi McGiggles#0458YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbxMzIGqu13m-NaSbTq8H3QWebPage: www.chichimcgiggles.com

We threatened.  We told you if someone didn't fall on the co-host sword I'd have to bring in the big guns.  Well, please meet the big gun at our farm... Mr.  McGiggles.  Take him with a grain of salt.  Or several shot s of your hardest spirits.  He's got strong opinions, matched only by his heart of gold, decades of championing the underdog, and a lifetime of liberating the oppressed.  Our podcast will allow for opinions and reflections of all manner.  Mostly you will hear us banter and mock each other.  We call that flirting.  Otherwise, we discuss how we met, how we came to buy our property and build our small farm, and other sundry tropics.  There is still a serious learning curve here so I ask for your patience and understanding.  Podcasting is a new undertaking and I am doing my best.  I haven't found any music that we all like (the ponies are picky) and can use without paying.  No intellectual theft here.  So if you have suggestions or an original piece you'd like us to consider, please let us know.  Thanks for listening. Please visit us at...https://www.facebook.com/chichisredherd/https://www.instagram.com/chichi7062/Please note, on behalf of our guest co-host (who has ZERO filter), advance apologies for offending several groups:Horse ownersFemale horse owners, specificallyFox HuntersFans of the movie Broke Back Mountain (he's actually very open minded and tolerant)Fans of the movie Steele MagnoliasFolks who wore their masks outside

This wild, wild west sounding counterculture... WTF is a cowgirl who is a hippie who doesn't even actually ranch for a living? We have answers.

What the heck is this podcast about?  Seriously.  It's important for everyone to understand that while I'm clearly obsessed with horses and working cows (I'm also really into those lush pearly lip glosses right now- sorry- I digress), this podcast is about that and more.  Not so much about lip gloss.  But sometimes.  It's about the cowgirl and the cowboy we could all be if we wanted.  The farmer inside the city girl.  The lumberjack inside the suburban dude.  OK.  Not so muc h that one maybe.  Sorta weird. It's about wanting to connect to something that remains primitive and elemental inside most of us.  And yet it seems the world is also moving away from this basic connection to the wild and one another.  Our differences seem to define us.  But we think there is common ground to find one another and our connection to the wild.  For McGiggles, that's me, your host, it's through horses.  And ranching when time allows.  This episode expands on where we're coming from and where we'd like to arrive.  Also, as promised, some awkward moments.  It's not like you didn't get a warning order.  Thanks for listening.  Please come back for our next episode... TBD. www.chichimcgiggles.com and please look for us on Facebook and Insta @chichi7062.  And yes we know there is a nonworking FB link on the web page.  We're on it.

Hi ya'll.  As promised, we're back.  Final edits are done.  So it suddenly occurred to us, oh damn, we need to warn people that we are letting this podcast into the wild.  Especially given that my former Green Beret, EXTREMELY extroverted husband will be my first co host (permanent position is still available HINT HINT).  So this is just a quick ad to promote what we here in The Red Herd are calling a "soft opening" episode.  A dry run.  Practice.  Expect it to be a little clunky.  Things will get better as time goes by.  I promise.  I'd apologize for my many awkward digressions but that's just normal and those will continue. Enjoy the short promo.  Should help ya'll to understand what it is we are trying to achieve in our primitive little podcast.  Enjoy.
