Ho, rugged listeners! Climb aboard our hot-rod iceberg and hear us talk about this all-time classic Donald Duck story, "the Golden Helmet!" This is a thrilling story with Carl Barks at his absolute best, with masterful art, hilarious dialogue (especially from the indelible villains) and some amazing character work. It doesn't get much better, so enjoy our conversation, just don't go getting any gleams in your eyes!
Jeff covered the game last night and lamented that Jenna Harner wasn't sitting next to Mike DeFabo at the game. Jeff says head shots need to be penalized no matter what. Jeff thinks there could be some big front office changes w/ Hextall given that the FSG didn't hire him. He doesn't think the Pens will blow it up and bring in a bunch of young guys. He thinks they could bring in a big name or two in free agency. Jeff thinks Kris Letang will be valued more by other teams than Rust and Malkin. Helmet Gate! The Penguins made some excuses talking about Petersson getting his helmet ripped off. We hear from Sullivan and Jarry talking about the play. They both think the rule stinks. Why did Sullivan complain more about this than the hit to the head on Crosby by Trouba? Crowley is eating on the air like Paul Zeise. Colin is still miffed by his daughter not being allowed to hold up a "Bury Trouba" sign at PPG Paints Arena. We play back a clip of Jeff Hathorn saying that Ron Hextall could be on the hot seat.

Mores lies! But this time, we focus on empirical use of spinal immobilization devices and the harm associated with them. The dogma surrounding this topic is staggering, to say the least. From EMS agencies to Level 1 tertiary centers, cervical collars and long spine boards (LSB) remain a "standard" predicated on a lack of evidence. What evidence DO we have regarding spinal immobilization? And how should we restrict spinal movement of polytrauma patients based on that evidence? Tune in to another eye-opening podcast episode where we are joined by air medical director, Dr. Mike Hudson, who has been leading the way in U.S. spinal motion restriction (SMR) techniques. Episode Summary: Have you ever heard the expression, “Keep your friends close to you and your enemies closer to you?” I don't agree with that, but I do think that if I am devoted to loyalty to Jesus, giving some thought to how his enemy, Satan, tries to undermine our allegiance to Jesus makes sense. This episode identifies from Scripture some of the tactics Satan uses to get us to betray our Lord. For Further Prayerful Thought:Which of Satan's names seems to you to most reveal his tactics and purpose? What did you learn about how Satan tries to undermine our confidence in God's goodness?Which of Satan's temptations to Jesus did you identify with most. How can you learn from how Jesus responded? When they draft 'Grunny' from Notre Dame in the second round they picked a man who would become a pillar for their organization for the next 30+ years. Tim made an immediate impact as a rookie and would string together an 11 year career, all with KC, that featured nearly 170 games played, including 164 starts. That was the 90's - what does he have to do with them today? Rotational impact protection in bike helmets has deservedly gotten a lot of attention in recent years, and MIPS has long been the pioneering technology in that space. But Lazer thought there was a lighter, more comfortable, more breathable way to accomplish the same goals, and developed KinetiCore to do just that. And so we sat down with Lazer's Head of Marketing for North America, Chris Smith, to get the rundown on what KinetiCore is supposed to do and how it does it; why Lazer went to the effort to develop their own technology; helmet testing standards and safety; and a whole lot more.TOPICS & TIMES:KinetiCore design goals (1:37)Helmet testing standards around the world (14:22)KinetiCore design details (22:45)Virginia Tech's helmet testing & KinetiCore helmet lineup (26:15)Jackyl KinetiCore MTB helmet & Accessory mount safety (35:28)Chris' Big Idea (46:34)RELATED LINKS:GEAR:30 on Helmet Tech, Pt. 1: Sweet ProtectionGEAR:30 on Helmet Tech, Pt. 2: Giro / BellGEAR:30 on Helmet Tech, Pt. 3: PretGEAR:30 on Helmet Tech, Pt. 4: POCGEAR:30 on Helmet Tech, Pt. 5: WaveCelIntroducing: Blister LabsGetting Here: Gunnison & Crested ButteThis Week's Gear GiveawayGear Giveaway / Newsletter SignupBecome a Blister Member / Get our new Buyer's GuideBlister Mountain Bike Buyer's GuideOUR OTHER BLISTER PODCASTSOff The CouchGEAR:30Blister Podcast See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Austin Facer, sports media smart alec and son of longtime Utah Utes beat writer Dirk Facer, debuts in his first episode of the retooled Locked On Utes podcast. First, Austin lays the land for what to expect from the newest iteration of the show and invites listeners to interact on social media with his spicy hot (and sometimes ice cold) takes on the University of Utah athletics program. Then, with the news that the Utah football program has raised its season ticket prices, he discusses what that means for the Utes and fans and how it compares to the struggles the men's basketball program is having in filling the Huntsman Center. Lastly, a fan of sports aesthetics, Austin talks about a sneak preview of a very special handpainted helmet that the Utes will wear in 2022 to honor Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe. When it comes to spiritual warfare, the mind is the battlefield. Our minds are bombarded by thoughts, images, suggestions, and accusations that the Bible calls "fiery darts" of the enemy. In this episode, Marian Jordan Ellis continues to teach verse by verse through Ephesians. She exposes how these "fiery darts" target our identity and examines how the Helmet of Salvation proves essential to experiencing the abundant life in Christ.
