Today I welcome back Róisín Michaux — the Irish writer based in Brussels who covers women's rights and free speech in the context of the transgender movement — for her second appearance on the show. When I booked this interview I had no idea what we'd cover; I simply trusted her to bring something worth digging into. What she brought is her ongoing investigation into the new World Health Organization guidelines for global transgender healthcare, and I'm hearing most of it for the first time right alongside the listener.Róisín walks me through how a 2019 reclassification in the International Classification of Diseases — moving gender identity out of mental health and into sexual health in order to “depathologize” it — created a conundrum: how do you get hormones and surgeries reimbursed for a condition that's no longer a condition? That question, she argues, is the thread that connects the WHO's guideline development group to a much larger story about HIV funding, the Global Fund, Open Society Foundations money, and decades of AIDS-elimination targets.We get into the “third gender” populations of India, Thailand, and Latin America; why so many of these vulnerable young men end up in prostitution and at high risk of HIV; and how offering the hormones and surgeries people want became a mechanism for getting them into clinics and onto antiretrovirals. When a submerged power line became tangled in the motor of their rescue boat on the Black River last Friday, two Missouri state troopers found themselves on a stalled, and sinking, vessel. It was one harrowing experience among many that played out on July 10 in parts of southeast Missouri, where flash flooding stranded hundreds of people and killed a woman. We learn about the rescue effort that brought 361 people to safety and hear from a 13-year-old who was airlifted out of Camp Taum Sauk by the National Guard.

Catastrophic flash floods in Texas have killed two people and forced hundreds of rescues in areas still reeling from devastating floods a year ago. I first learned about the United States Life-Saving Service years ago on a family vacation. We got to see a life-saving station that actually has been preserved at a strategic point along the Atlantic coastline. There used to be a lot of them. In some areas, they were like just seven miles apart, you know, along the coast. Each one was staffed by a seven-man crew. I'm going to tell you, these guys were ultimate heroes in every sense of the word! When a ship was in distress near their assigned area, they'd go out into the surf, out into the storm, even a hurricane to try to rescue the people on board. They lived their motto: “You have to go out. You don't have to come back.” They saved countless lives who otherwise would have been lost. But it was only recently that I learned how this heroism actually all began. William Newell was a medical doctor, and he was at the New Jersey Shore at a place called Barnegat the day after a ship had gone down during an overnight storm. He was at the beach and the bodies of 13 crewmen washed ashore. He said, “Here I was, a man who spent his life trying to save lives. And here was a situation where I was absolutely powerless to do anything to help them. Something's got to be done about this.” Something was. A few years later, Dr. Newell was Congressman Newell; in a position to make a difference. So, he led the effort to birth the United States Life-Saving Service. It started with a few life-saving stations in New Jersey, and then it quickly spread all along the Atlantic Coast because of one man's heart for those who were being lost. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about “Helping Others Live.” One man looked at lives being lost and he said, “I cannot just let them die.” Jesus is like that. That's why He went to an awful cross to rescue us from the otherwise inevitable eternal death penalty for our sins. And He's looking for others who will have a heart like his; a heart that looks at people around you and says, “I can't just let them die. I've got to do something about this.” One of Jesus' original rescuers, the Apostle Paul, expressed the heart that Jesus wants to plant in all of us in 2 Corinthians 5, beginning with verse 11. It's our word for today from the Word of God. He said, “Since we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men.” Paul never wanted anyone he knew to have to face the awful judgment of God for their sin. He went on to say, “Christ's love compels us because we are convinced that one died for all.” If Jesus could die to save them, can't I at least tell them what He did for them? I can't just let them die. Where I live, where I work, where I go to school, the groups I'm in - that's my stretch of beach. I am His life-saving crew for the people there who don't know Christ. This isn't about getting them to change their religion. It's not about religion at all. It's about the only One who died for their sins. There are a lot of religions. There's only one Savior. There's only one Rescuer. Your mission is to take them by the hand, walk with them up Skull Hill to that cross and say, “This was for you.” The church you're in, the ministry you're in - is it committed as top priority to saving lives on the stretch of beach you've been assigned by God, or are you just feeding and comforting the life-saving crew? If your ministry, your church, your Bible study isn't about rescuing those who will die otherwise, you might need a quick heart exam. Do you have the heart of your Savior? Because He said His reason for coming was to seek and rescue the lost. So you can't say you're following Jesus and not be reaching the lost. Because if you follow Him, that's where He's going. An 1883 Life-Saving Service report to Congress displayed a photo of a life-saving crew and it asked this question, “Why would a group of ordinary men risk everything?” The answer explains why you and I must take whatever risks are necessary to help people we know be in heaven with us. Here's the answer: “That others might live.”

Selling focused on select large-cap liquid tech stocks as contract chipmaker TSMC faced heavier pressure, pushing down the Taiex. 86 Indonesian students awarded Taiwan scholarships Eighty-six Indonesian students have been awarded Taiwanese government scholarships to study in Taiwan this year. Before leaving, they attended a pre-departure orientation in Jakarta held by Taiwan's representative office there, covering student visas, residency procedures and campus life. Taiwan's representative to Indonesia, Bruce Hung, said more than 19 thousand Indonesian students are currently studying in Taiwan, making Indonesia the second-largest source of international students after Vietnam. Hung said Taiwan offers a strong Mandarin-learning environment and diverse (多種多樣的) higher education opportunities, and encouraged the students to learn more about the island's AI and semiconductor industries during their studies. Thailand Pub Fire Leaves Dozens Dead and Injured A huge fire that engulfed a pub in Bangkok overnight has killed at least 27 people and injured dozens more. Rescuers said the fire was reported around midnight Sunday, and firefighters brought the blaze under control early Monday. Footage shared online by first responders shows a huge blaze raging and plumes coming out of the front door of the pub in the northern part of the Thai capital. Thailand's prime minister told reporters at the scene that several people have been taken to the hospital. He says a musician who was performing at the pub told him that he saw smoke coming out of a circuit breaker (斷路器) near the stage before the power went out, then an explosion was heard and thick smoke quickly filled the venue Many of victims were found at the restrooms at the back of the pub. US Launches Strikes on Iranian Military Sites The United States Central Command has launched fresh strikes on Iranian military sites near the Strait of Hormuz, as Washington presses Tehran to guarantee safe passage for commercial shipping through the waterway. The escalation comes as the US political landscape shifts following the death of Senator Lindsey Graham, a prominent (著名的) foreign policy hawk who advocated for military action against Iran and strong ties with European allies. Syria NewlyElected Parliament Holds First Session Syria's newly elected parliament has held its first session since the ouster of former President Bashar Assad. The reconvening of parliament aims to restart the legislative process after years of conflict and autocratic rule. Two-thirds of the 210-member People's Assembly were elected while one-third were appointed by interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa. The new parliament will serve a 30-month term. Rescuers in Venezuela are searching the rubble in the capital, Caracas where more than 100 buildings have collapsed after a double earthquake hit the country last night. 164 people have died and almost 1000 other people have been injured. The record for the hottest day recorded in the UK in June has been broken for a second day in a row, with 36.7 celsius recorded in Somerset. The Chancellor, Rachel Reeves says she'll back Andy Burnham to be the next Prime Minister, despite speculation that he would demote her to a junior position in the cabinet.

These aren't random relationship failures — you're cycling through Karpman's Drama Triangle, and until you recognize the pattern, you'll keep fighting the same battles with different people. Psychotherapist and Jungian analyst Gary Trosclair breaks down the three archetypal roles — Rescuer, Victim, and Persecutor — how they show up in the driven, compulsive personality, and five practical steps to step out of the triangle for good.

When my wife and I would drive somewhere, we didn't lose any time when she drove. In fact, we set some records. Once we were on a trip and I was preparing for the meetings we were going to, she was driving down this four-lane, divided highway. I was looking down. All of a sudden, I looked up and I saw orange plastic cones on the middle line that divides the two lanes on our side. And as I looked, every vehicle but one was moving into the left lane, to the left of the cones. You notice I said everyone but one. Yeah, that was us. My wife continued in the right lane, and I said, “Honey, what are you doing? Looks like this lane is closing.” She said, “Just watch.” Well, we passed a line of cars on our left, with a big truck at the head of it. See, that truck had moved into the left lane, and all the other cars said, “Oh, that must be the lane to be in.” The problem was that the truck that they were following was taking equipment to a big tar truck parked in the left lane, so we waved as we zipped by all those cars as they were heading for an unpleasant surprise. I'm Ron Hutchcraft, and I want to have A Word With You today about “Wrong About God.” Now, our word for today from the Word of God. We're in Proverbs 14:12. It's short, but it's hard-hitting. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end, it leads to death.” The Bible's pretty clear here. A lot of people are on a road that looks good, but it's going nowhere. Jesus talked about that in Matthew 7:13-14, when He said, “Enter through the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it; but small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” See, a lot of people are wrong about the one thing you can't afford to be wrong about—God, and how to get to Him. If you're wrong about God, it's fatal forever. Maybe you're someone who might be on a sincere road that seems very right, but that ends far away from God forever instead of with Him forever. Only God can tell us how to get to Him, and He does in John 14:6. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father except through Me.” In 1 John 5:11-12 it says, “There is life in God's Son, and he that has the Son has life. He that does not have the Son of God does not have life.” So, question: Do you have the Son of God in your heart? This bothers a lot of people that Jesus is the only way. You say, “Well, I believe in tolerance. As long as we're sincere.” Well, if you're trapped in a burning building, and a firefighter risks his life to bring you out, I don't think you say, “Hey, wait, there's only one way out of here? Are you kidding?” No, you grab that rescuer and you say, “Thank God there's a way.” Well, thank God there is one way. There wasn't any way until one Savior came and paid the price for our sin. Sin has a death penalty. The Bible says, “The wages of sin is death.” Someone's got to die for my sin to be paid for. No good works, no matter what faith they're from, can pay that death penalty. Romans 5:8 says, “God proved His love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” If you haven't pinned all your hopes on Jesus to be your Rescuer, you're still on the road that leads to death. That's why everything, now and forever, depends on what you do with God's Son, Jesus. This could be the day when you make this Jesus your Rescuer from your sin if you would just tell Him, “Jesus, I get it. You died on that cross for me. I'm Yours.” Would you please go to our website and just find there the information you need to get this relationship with Jesus going? It's ANewStory.com. Only one lane gets you to God. Only one lane gets you to heaven. It's the road that goes by the cross where Jesus died to pay for your sin.

Two women were swept away in rough waters in California after being carried out to sea while sleeping on the beach when the tide came in. Rescuers were unable to reach them on time. And there was nothing more deafening than the sounds of Knicks fans screaming for joy after their big win. One woman's joyful screams were mistaken for distress, leading to the death of a family dog. Plus, five suspects have been arrested for allegedly plotting to detonate drone bombs near the UFC event at the White House on Sunday, a plan that, if successful, would have forced an evacuation and sent 100,000 spectators running into the path of snipers. As Ann Mercogliano reports, federal authorities say they were able to stop the attack in time. And shock continues after a woman died while bungee jumping because she was never attached to the cord. Three workers from that jump site were arrested and charged with homicide. We are now learning that one of the suspects has a history of what many are calling “reckless jumps.”
