Michael Lylyk, Edrick Dudang and Bryan McGovern, rant about the politics that are important to us, whether they're Canadian, America, or the rest of the world.
In Britain Theresa May gambled the Tories majority away. Ex-FBI Director James Comey testified in front of Congress and we all watch it. Plus over in BC, Site C is nothing more then a playground for politics between The liberals, NDP, and Greens. (which lets face it. Kind of always was, right?)POLITICS! :D
Things have changed up for the politics podcast as we're all recording in the same room. You can feel the energy going into your ear drums! BC has a minority government and the Greens are now going to have to play politics, Theresa May picked a bad time to call an election and Donald Trump was being a dope in other countries for once!show notes:Health care replacement gets CBO score - Bryan McGovern (Investing News Network)
We give our congratulations to France on electing Macron as their new president, but now it's time for us to focus on the next election at hand. Our last conversation about the three parties fighting for the attention of British Columbian voters. Is it probably Christy Clark again? Does the NDP even have a chance? Who are the greens again?
It's been a long time, and a hell of a lot of politics have definitely happened since the last time we did one of these. But don't worry, there's no way we'd possibly be able to catch up within an hour mark, so let's just talk about what's important. The BC Election is a thing, and the first on air debate put things into a rocky territory. Then there's the French election, which I'm sure is going to have some dire outcome right? Look at all France gets to choose from.Oh and uh, Trump is close to his first 100 days of the surreal fever dream known as his presidency. POLITICS!
So it seems to me that whenever the Trump administration has a good day, a series of bad ones are soon to follow. Sessions talked to a Russian and Lied about it, Trump is on the verge of signing his new travel ban, and Reading Breitbart has convinced him that Obama has wiretapped Trump tower during the election. So it's still a mess and we're all screwed.Meanwhile in Canada, Kellie Leitch thinks a video of hers is popular for all the wrong reasons. Have you seen it? it's pretty great, clearly the best work that an elementary school AV club has put together so far.
Turns out, when you miss a week of doing a podcast, a little too much stuff happens. So we do our best to round up the important bits before we get onto the important things. Such as, another Mar-A-Largo visit, Trudeau trumping the handshake, Kevin O'Leary once again the target for Conservatives, Christy Clark has only herself to blame for hacker remarks, and OH. Michael Flynn, that NSA advisor? Well he's out.
The Trump administration is continuing it's ongoing battle with closing America off from the rest of the world, once again saving the controversial executive orders for the weekend so the American public can all spend a weekend outside and enjoy the scent of rallies. Is all of this intentional or does the new White House staff have absolutely no idea what they're doing?Whelp....
I feel like it should be warned, if you haven't listened to any of these episodes so far. There's the potential for you to hear strong language. but if you look at the current political climate in both America and Canada, can you blame us? Between the Conservative leadership race and the alternative reality of the Trump administration, maybe we should just end 2017 early.Because that's what people do in these situations, right? Blame it on the year.
It's our final Politically charged chat of the year, and even we can't understand why President Trump is continuing to happen, despite Michael's plea for the electoral college to stop it. Also the Conservatives continue to debate at each other, despite a lack of French. Rebel Media continues to pine for attention, and where is the NDP in all of this?
Life is pretty hard when you're an attractive Prime Minister. It seems like the moment you start doing things around the office, people are ready to criticize you. You can make a touching eulogy for a dead cuban dictator. you can't approve controversial pipelines, and you certainly can't attend fundraisers.Just stay Trudeau to yourself, Justin.
Just when you think, "Maybe things will be alright," it gets worse. You say to yourself, "Well Mitt Romney is going to meet with Trump and call him out on his garbage and the Republicans can walk away with a shred of dignity." But then some alt right kids, probably from a reddit forum, stick their arm in the air and promote Trump to Hitler status. At least Canada will always have the fart debacle.
America has a elected a man that doesn't realize what the job is, The Democratic party has to recollect itself and at least one Progressive Conservative running for party leader has a sense of humour. What an awfully strange week.
The moment everyone has been waiting for! But how exactly did we get here, and where are we going to end up? Though polls are in favour of Clinton, is she still in serious danger of losing? Is Trump even going to vote for himself? Give yourself something to listen to on the way to your voting booth America!
Our inaugural episode of our all politics podcast is nothing short of email controversy out of the gate. Those just can't seem to go away can they? With Trump gaining a little bit in the polls, is that enough to actually win the election? And Canada, though our politics might get heated and miserable we will always find a way to embrace in a human moment.
