In this episode of the Inside EMS podcast, Chris Cebollero and Kelly Grayson tackle one of the most nerve-wracking scenarios in EMS: the pediatric respiratory emergency. From the moment you see a gasping toddler in mom's arms, you know this is a make-or-break call — and for many providers, it's the one that keeps them up at night. Chris kicks things off with a haunting real-life scenario that sets the stage for an in-depth conversation on how to recognize and respond to pediatric respiratory distress. Kelly, a seasoned PALS instructor with a knack for demystifying pediatrics, offers practical advice on assessing sick kids using tools like the Pediatric Assessment Triangle, reading subtle signs like head bobbing or limp limbs, and why the good ol' basics — like BVM ventilation and suction — save lives. From clinical pearls to mindset resets, this episode is a must-listen if you want to face your pediatric fears and come out stronger. Memorable quotes “If we know that's a weakness for our employees, what are we doing to help them make it a strength?” “You bring calm to the chaos. You bring presence to the panic. You bring hope to the people who are living their worst moment.” “This is not about just about a clinical challenge; but it's a fear of getting something wrong.” Enjoying the show?

Pals is the pastel-coloured RTD that somehow made ready-to-drink drinks cool for the first time. But it wasn't always assured to be a success, in fact, it started with a wine brand that was very hard to make a business from, a lot of learning, and a sense that there had to be a better way. This week on Business is Boring, we sit down with Nick Marshall and Mat Croad, two of the co-founders of Pals, to unpack how they turned an overlooked, over-sugared category into a cultural icon. We go deep on what it takes to build a brand people love, how they've resisted the typical “grow fast, sell out” script, and why category creation is the new brand advantage. From first sell-outs in the Mount, to Halloween costumes and B Corp ambitions—this one's a masterclass in modern brand building, from two pals who just knew there had to be a better way. Topics covered : Imposter syndrome, vulnerability, shedding shame, triggers, self-sabotage, apologising, blocks, boundaries, self-worth, ADHD, conditioning, reclaiming. This episode originally aired on the 6th of October 2023 and feels eerily resonant now, given how much has shifted since. I speak to body-based visibility and business coach, Kate O'Dwyer. She lives in Dublin with her partner Jim and their son, Ned.She is the senior guest booker on The Tommy Tiernan Show on RTÉ and her passion is in supporting women to step into their fullest self-expression so that they can share their work, their words, and their wisdom. She believes that our visibility can heal and embolden each other to build the world we all want to live in.And in this conversation she shares her own experience with us, she speaks about visibility blocks and what they might look like and shows us how to step into our power.Since we recorded this pod, Kate has created the ever-growing Pals for Palestine Ireland community - her heart and leadership continue to inspire me deeply. If you're a fan of my pod, please follow, rate and review in all the usual places. And thanks, as always, for your support of Ready to be Real. In this episode we travel from the Yorkshire Moors to the Somme battlefield at Serre to discover the story of the Leeds Pals. Who were these men? Why is their training ground now a special place for them? We look at the extraordinary bravery of their young Officers and Other Ranks on the first day of this infamous battle, and read a letter written by the sister of a 16 year old Boy Soldier, begging him to return home. In amongst the Officers who fell that die, we tell the story of 2 successful sportsmen. And we discover what happened when the Pals returned to Serre in 1935.
We were admittedly a bit dubious going into this pairing, which was spoken into existence by writer-director Andrew DeYoung invoking THE MASTER when describing his new Tim Robinson/Paul Rudd comedy FRIENDSHIP, but it's not the stretch we thought it would be. In fact, Paul Thomas Anderson's discomfiting psychological drama proves such an interesting lens through which to view FRIENDSHIP's discomfiting absurdist comedy that we move into Connections early, to discuss how each of these two films about lonely men at odds with their own reality bucks convention, not only in terms of narrative and character, but in style and structure as well. Then in Your Next Picture Show we give a glimpse of the episode that could have been if we had chosen the PTA film we went into FRIENDSHIP expecting to be reminded of (and still kind of were): PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE. Please share your thoughts about THE MASTER, FRIENDSHIP, or anything else in the world of film, by sending an email or voice memo to comments@nextpictureshow.net, or leaving a short voicemail at (773) 234-9730. We can't say that it would have occurred to us to pair the new Tim Robinson/Paul Rudd comedy FRIENDSHIP with THE MASTER if writer-director Andrew DeYoung hadn't specifically invoked Paul Thomas Anderson's 2012 psychological drama, but the two films do wind up being unexpectedly complementary portraits of relationships between emotionally unstable men. Plus, we're happy to have an excuse to revisit THE MASTER, a slippery film wherein nearly every scene has a claim to being the most important one. So this week we're taking a closer look at a few of those scenes and the multiple interpretations they invite. And in Feedback we're still fielding listener interpretations of SINNERS, this time one that addresses one of Tasha's only complaints about the film. Please share your thoughts about THE MASTER, FRIENDSHIP, or anything else in the world of film, by sending an email or voice memo to comments@nextpictureshow.net, or leaving a short voicemail at (773) 234-9730. Sarah is getting old all of a sudden, and she is not happy about it. She claims she has an old lady body now, and we talk about how humans age in two big bursts at 44 and 60. Sarah saw a man taking pics of young girls at the beach so we debate whether she should've confronted him. Frogs have been croaking (get it?) at alarming numbers due to storm drains, so someone created the cutest solution you ever heard of. We discuss the old classic the tortoise and the hare, and we admit that that story is a buncha b.s. Truth is, that hare is going to win 99% of the time. We talk about karma and the silly way humans think about it that is biased to their own goodness. Sarah explains why female friendships are keeping pop music afloat. We learn why humans heal so much slower than their chimpanzee relatives.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSponsors:For 20% off your order, head to https://www.harvesthosts.com and use code BRAINCANDYVisit https://shopbeam.com/BRAINCANDY and use code BRAINCANDY to get our exclusive discount of up to 35% off.For 50% off your order, head to https://www.dailylook.com and use code BRAINCANDYGet 40% off your first box PLUS get a free item in every box for life when you go to https://www.hungryroot.com/BRAINCANDY and use code BRAINCANDYSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
