This episode features highlights from Ben's live keynote presentation, revealing why sugar is not the true cause of obesity. The real driver is cellular inflammation. When the cell membrane becomes inflamed, hormones cannot communicate, fat-burning shuts down, and chronic disease begins to develop. Key Points From the Keynote • Obesity is not genetic. It is epigenetic and driven by lifestyle choices. • Seed oils are the biggest trigger of cellular inflammation and mitochondrial damage. • These inflammatory fats remain in the body for years. The half-life of linoleic acid is 680 days. • One french fry cooked in vegetable oil can create aldehydes equivalent to 25 cigarette drags. • Weight gain is a symptom, not the root cause. You do not lose weight to get healthy. You get healthy first, then weight loss follows. • Thoughts influence metabolism. Negativity increases inflammation while gratitude supports healing. • Self-image shapes behavior. You cannot outperform the identity stored in your subconscious. • Purpose and clear goals improve longevity. People live longer when they have something meaningful to pursue. • Vitamin G (gratitude) reduces cortisol, blood pressure, blood sugar, and strengthens the immune system. Takeaways • Remove seed oils to reduce inflammation and restore hormonal signaling. • Upgrade thought patterns and self-image to break self-sabotage cycles. • Purpose and gratitude are two of the most powerful metabolic tools available.
Bryan Kohberger has just been ordered to pay for another part of the aftermath he created — this time, roughly $3,000 for two victims' urns, on top of the more than $30,000 restitution outlined in his agreement. On the surface, it feels like a moment of overdue accountability in a case where nothing has moved fast enough, clean enough, or confidently enough. But as always in the Kohberger saga… the fine print tells a very different story. In this episode of Hidden Killers, Tony Brueski dives into the judge's ruling — not just what it means for restitution, but what it quietly unlocks. Because the judge didn't just say “pay up.” He said Kohberger can get a job in prison or ask for donations to raise the money. Let that sink in. When the court says “donations,” that opens the door to an entire ecosystem of online supporters, fringe communities, contrarians, and high-profile-case obsessives who will absolutely try to send him money. And legally? They can. As long as it goes toward restitution. But here's the real problem: What happens once the restitution is paid off? That's where things get uncomfortable. Because any money that comes in after his debt is satisfied becomes fair game under prison regulations. Commissary. Comfort. Influence. Power. Even long-term financial positioning. And then there's the big, ugly question most people don't want to touch: Can he someday legally profit from his story? “Son of Sam” laws were gutted years ago. The restrictions people assume exist… often don't. Third-party deals, “creative packaging,” and legally gray revenue channels have helped other high-profile offenders monetize their notoriety. And with this ruling, Kohberger now has the first ingredient he needs — a pathway for money to flow toward him legally. Tony breaks down what's fair, what's dangerous, and what the system just opened the door to. Accountability is one thing. What comes after it? That's the part nobody's ready for. #HiddenKillers #BryanKohberger #IdahoCase #TrueCrimeNews #JusticeSystem #CrimeAnalysis #LegalBreakdown #TonyBrueski #CrimeUpdates #CourtRulings Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? California officials knew about underground embers a week before the Palisades fire but failed to properly monitor them—then lied about their involvement in court documents. Is anyone surprised? We've got state representatives showing up at 4 AM to direct firefighters, then claiming they had "no responsibility" while fighting a lawsuit from 3,000 residents. Meanwhile, Mayor Karen Bass was vacationing in Ghana despite promising no international trips, water reservoirs were empty, and fire hydrants ran dry. But sure, let's trust these same leaders who made filming so expensive that Mel Gibson's crew flew to Bulgaria because it was cheaper than shooting in Hollywood. The state that's number one in homelessness, poverty, and gas prices wants us to believe this disaster isn't their fault? What could go wrong when Gavin Newsom runs for president in 2028 on this stellar track record? Are Californians finally waking up to decades of failed leadership, or will they keep voting for the same policies that turned their state into an unaffordable bureaucratic nightmare? Like and subscribe if you're tired of politicians dodging accountability while taxpayers pay the price.

This is a short, catch-up episode of the Front Porch Book Club. Nancy admits that she ran out of time finding a guest for Crazy Rich Asians. Kevin Kwan was unavailable (!) as were a number of the experts Nancy contacted. Instead, we catch-up on what is going on in our lives. Linny tells Nancy all about her latest paid extra gig, a feature film, based on a documentary about a Washington, D.C. man who begins a boxing club for youth in his neighborhood. Nancy's recent win was a partner who said she was fun to play tennis with and cooking a successful French progressive dinner to benefit her performing arts center, the Lied. Linny and Nancy talk about gratitude, in this time of Thanksgiving. Nancy is grateful for Linny and loves their time on the podcast, as is Linny. She also mentions family, friends, faith, country, and the Hallmark Channel! Linny saw Nuremberg the afternoon of our recording. She highly recommends it. She thought the extras did a very good job 10/10 stars. Russel Crowe gets a 9/10. Linny muses that the Academy Awards should have a category for the best extras. Linny's son will not be home for Christmas, so she is deciding she will be grateful for Christmas but she is looking for ideas that will create a happy Christmas without her child. If you have ideas, let us know!!

A Night At The Opera". __________ Über diese Songs vom Album "A Night At The Opera" sprechen wir im Podcast (03:11) – "'39" (11:20) – "Death On Two Legs"(21:10) – "I'm In Love With My Car"(28:44) – "You're My Best Friend"(36:00) – "Love Of My Life"(39:04) – "Good Company"(49:06) – "Bohemian Rhapsody" __________ Alle Shownotes und weiterführenden Links zur Folge "A Night At The Opera" findet ihr hier: https://1.ard.de/queen-a-night-at-the-opera __________ Ihr wollt mehr Podcasts wie diesen? Most financial advisors still cling to the outdated "4% rule" — the idea that you can safely withdraw 4% a year from your retirement portfolio and never run out of money. But what happens when someone tells you to pull 8–10% instead? Total disaster. I ran the numbers using real Monte Carlo simulations. A 10% withdrawal rate only has a 3.3% chance of success. That means 97 out of 100 retirees would run out of money before they die. The math doesn't lie — but Wall Street might. The truth is, there is a smarter way. A system that lets you pull 2–3x more income, tax-free, and with safety and liquidity built in. Stop gambling your retirement on "hope and growth." Start building it on strategy and certainty.

“She lied about everything.” That's what former Massachusetts Deputy Police Chief Robert Devine told the state's oversight commission when he was asked about Sandra Birchmore — a 23-year-old woman found dead in her Canton, Massachusetts apartment in 2021. But behind that phrase lies one of the most disturbing stories of police corruption, grooming, and betrayal in modern American law enforcement. Sandra Birchmore joined the Stoughton Police Explorers program as a teenager — a mentorship group designed to inspire young people interested in policing. Instead, it became her trap. Federal prosecutors say she was groomed and manipulated by Stoughton officers for years, including Detective Matthew Farwell, who now stands accused of murdering her. In August 2024, Farwell was indicted for strangling Birchmore and staging her death to look like suicide — allegedly to stop her from exposing his misconduct. At the time, Sandra was pregnant and believed Farwell was the father. Later, DNA testing proved otherwise, but it didn't erase the years of manipulation and control that led up to her death. As the federal case builds, another disturbing layer has surfaced: senior officers — including Robert Devine, who once oversaw the Explorer program — have been accused of misconduct and cover-ups. Instead of accountability, Devine offered deflection, telling investigators that Birchmore “lied about everything.” In this episode, Tony Brueski tears into that defense — and the system that enables it. What does it mean when those sworn to protect instead prey on the vulnerable? What happens when “credibility” becomes a weapon, and victims of grooming are discredited by the very people who created their trauma? This isn't just about one department or one victim. Across the country, similar police Explorer programs have been exposed for systemic abuse — from Kentucky to Texas, from Florida to Utah. The same pattern repeats: powerful men, teenage recruits, secret communication, and departments more interested in damage control than justice. Sandra's story is a warning — and an indictment of every institution that confuses authority with immunity. She didn't “lie about everything.” She told the truth about the wrong people.

A woman told a pretty crazy lie and it got her way more respect at her job!
Girlfriend, if you've fallen in your recovery - if you've had a setback, slipped back into old behaviors, or feel like you're not where you "should" be - this episode is for you. This morning, Lindsey was walking her 7-year-old son Blake to school when he fell hard while skipping in Crocs. Through his tears, he looked up and said, "I guess I shouldn't skip so fast to school." And in that moment, Lindsey realized something profound: Sometimes the fall is required. Not because we want to hurt, but because without the fall, we wouldn't learn any other way. In this vulnerable episode, Lindsey shares her own painful fall in recovery - when she was lying to her treatment team, telling everyone she was "doing the things" while secretly still restricting out of fear. Her results weren't matching her actions, and she felt defeated. But that fall? It became her turning point. Drawing from her figure skating background (landing her first double loop took countless falls), Lindsey reveals why falls aren't failures - they're required education. She addresses the shame that comes with relapsing, gives you permission to be right where you are, and shows you how to get back up without beating yourself up. If you've been too afraid to risk falling or too ashamed to get back up, this episode will change everything. In This Episode, You'll Hear: Blake's Fall: The Morning Walk to School How her 7-year-old fell hard while skipping in Crocs The mama moment of dusting him off and helping him up His profound realization: "I guess I shouldn't skip so fast" Why she knew he needed that fall to learn The parallel to recovery that changed her perspective Lindsey's Recovery Fall: The Painful Truth When she was lying to her treatment team about doing "the things" The internal defeat of results not matching actions One side wanting weight gain, the other side feeling betrayed and terrified Beating herself up for not being "further along" The turning point: getting real and honest with herself Why that fall propelled her forward more than smooth sailing ever could The Figure Skating Metaphor: Landing the Double Loop Falling over and over trying to land her first double loop jump How each fall taught her something new (angle, timing, fear, adjustment) Why it became her favorite jump BECAUSE of the falls, not in spite of them The parallel: recovery is learning a jump you've never done before The Shame of Falling in Recovery Why Blake was embarrassed when he fell (other kids watching, teacher saw) The truth: shame isn't about the fall, it's what you make it mean about you Your fall doesn't mean you're a failure, weak, or not worth the effort It just means you're learning Why Lindsey eventually saw her falls as necessary How falls are setups for breakthroughs, not just setbacks You Are Right Where You Need to Be Not where you want to be, but where you need to be You can't skip ahead or bypass the lesson The truth: you can't change what you won't acknowledge You can't heal what you won't feel You can't grow without falling The fall isn't the end of your story - it's the beginning of your breakthrough Key Takeaways: ✨ Sometimes the fall is required - without it, we wouldn't learn any other way ✨ Falls aren't failures, they're required education - each one teaches you something ✨ Shame isn't about the fall - it's about what you're making the fall mean about you ✨ You are right where you need to be - not where you want to be, but exactly where you need to be to learn and grow ✨ You can't change what you won't acknowledge - getting honest is the first step to getting back up ✨ The fall is setup for your breakthrough - not a setback, but preparation for progress ✨ Recovery is learning a jump you've never done before - of course you're going to fall multiple times ✨ Staying stuck is its own kind of fall - it's just slower, more painful, and doesn't teach you anything ✨ You don't have to get up alone - reach out for help, let someone stoop down to your level Powerful Quotes from This Episode: "Sometimes the fall is required. Not because I want you to hurt, but because without the fall, we wouldn't learn any other way" "I guess I shouldn't skip so fast to school" - Blake, age 7 "I was telling everyone I was doing the things, but in reality I wasn't because I was scared" "The results weren't matching my actions and I felt so defeated internally" "One side of me wanted weight gain because I knew I needed it. The other side felt betrayed and terrified" "That fall was my turning point. Once I got real and honest with myself, I could finally do something about it" "I fell SO many times trying to land that double loop. It became my favorite jump not in spite of the falls, but BECAUSE of them" "The falls weren't failures. The falls were required education" "The shame isn't about the fall. The shame is about what you're making the fall mean about you" "Your fall doesn't mean you're a failure. It just means you're learning" "I eventually saw my falls as necessary. I don't think I would have made the progress I made without falling multiple times" "The falls weren't setbacks. They were setups for my breakthrough" "You are right where you need to be. Not where you want to be, but where you need to be" "You can't change what you won't acknowledge. You can't heal what you won't feel. You can't grow without falling" "The fall isn't the end of your story. It's the beginning of your breakthrough" "Recovery isn't about never falling. Recovery is about learning to get back up" "Staying stuck is its own kind of fall. It's just slower, more painful, and doesn't teach you anything" How to Get Back Up After You Fall: Step 1: Stop Beating Yourself Up Stop making the fall mean something about your worth. The fall is data. It's information. It's feedback. It's not a judgment on who you are. Step 2: Get Honest Really honest. With yourself first, then with your treatment team, support system, and your people. Say: "I fell. Here's where I am. Here's what I need." Step 3: Reach Out for Help Just like Lindsey stooped down to Blake's level to dust him off - you don't have to get up alone. In fact, you shouldn't. Let someone help you back up. Step 4: Take the Lesson Forward Blake learned not to skip so fast. What are YOU learning from this fall? What does this fall need to teach you that you couldn't have learned any other way? Step 5: Keep Moving Forward Maybe a little slower. Maybe a little more carefully. Maybe with more honesty this time. But keep going. Because recovery isn't about never falling - it's about learning to get back up. Questions to Reflect On: About Your Falls: Where have you fallen recently in your recovery? What is that fall trying to teach you? Are you making the fall mean something about your worth? Have you gotten honest about where you really are? About Growth: What fall might you need to RISK in order to grow? What must you go through in order to evolve? Are you staying stuck because you're too afraid to risk falling? What lesson can't you learn any other way except through falling? Specific Scenarios: Maybe you've restricted when you said you wouldn't - what is that teaching you about your fear? Maybe you've isolated when you said you'd reach out - what is that teaching you about shame? Maybe you've lied to your treatment team - what is that teaching you about control? The Risk Question: Do you need to risk eating a fear food and falling into discomfort? Do you need to risk being honest and falling into vulnerability? Do you need to risk resting and falling into fear of losing control? Who This Episode Is For: This episode is essential listening if you: Have fallen or relapsed in your ED recovery recently Are lying to your treatment team about what you're really doing Feel ashamed about "falling again" in your recovery Beat yourself up for not being "further along" Think you're a failure because you keep slipping back Are too afraid to risk falling, so you stay stuck Feel defeated because your results don't match your stated actions Need permission to be imperfect in recovery Want to understand why falls are necessary, not shameful Are ready to get honest and finally change Have kids and relate to the parenting/learning moments Are a mom who sees your own journey in your child's lessons Important Truths About Falls in Recovery: Falls Are Not Failures: They're required education. Each fall teaches you something you couldn't learn any other way. The Length of Your Struggle Doesn't Matter: Whether this is your first fall or your hundredth, you can still get back up and keep going. Results Not Matching Actions Is a Sign: It means you're not being fully honest - with yourself or others. That realization IS the breakthrough. You Can't Skip the Lesson: Just like Blake couldn't skip learning to slow down without falling, you can't bypass the lessons recovery requires. Honesty Is the Turning Point: Once you get real about where you are, you can finally do something about it. Blake's Lesson Applied to Your Recovery: Blake was skipping too fast → You might be rushing recovery, trying to do it perfectly Lindsey kept warning him to be careful → Your body, treatment team, loved ones have been giving you signals He fell hard and got hurt → You've had a setback, relapse, or painful realization He reached out for help → You don't have to get up alone - reach out Lindsey stooped to his level → The right support meets you where you are, doesn't shame you She dusted him off → You can clean yourself up and start fresh He learned the lesson → "I shouldn't skip so fast" = awareness leads to change He got back up and kept going to school → You get back up and keep moving toward recovery The Figure Skating Lesson: Just like Lindsey fell countless times before landing her first double loop jump - and it became her favorite jump BECAUSE of all the falls - your recovery falls are teaching you: What angle is wrong (what approach isn't working) What timing is off (maybe you're not ready for this step yet) What fear you're holding onto (what's really keeping you stuck) What adjustment you need to make (how to do it differently next time) And eventually, when you land it, recovery will become your favorite part of your story. Not in spite of the falls, but because of them. Permission Slip: You have permission to: Fall and not be a failure Be right where you are, even if it's on the ground Get honest about lying or hiding Reach out for help getting back up Learn slowly, one fall at a time Be imperfect in your recovery journey Risk falling in order to grow Stop beating yourself up Start fresh today, right now Ready to Get Back Up? In today's Five Question Friday (FQF) video, we look at these five questions:1. Have we been lied to about our Social Security break-even age?2. Is it ok to restart the 4% rule if the market goes up in early retirement?3. I am nervous about the run up in AI stocks . . . Could it be a good idea to consider diversifying from VTI to an “equal-weighted index fund like Invesco S&P Equal Weight ETF or others like it?4. I'm 64 and I would like to begin annual Roth conversions from my traditional IRA's. Can you review the rules surrounding these conversions in one's retirement years? I would like to know how soon I can withdraw converted funds and their associated earnings penalty free and tax free.5. You've mentioned in the past that you transitioned from a six-fund portfolio to a simpler three-fund setup. I'm curious — was that change mainly about reducing complexity and streamlining your investments, or did it reflect a stage of investment maturity and confidence in a more minimalist approach?Join the Newsletter.
