Come hangout with host Melody as she has everyday conversations about her experiences with uni, faith, relationships and all things life in REAL time. A mic just happens to be there. Without sugarcoating, she'll offer a fresh perspective in hopes to help Gen Z face and overcome the raw realities of growing up in this generation. She doesn't have all the answers because, just like the rest of us, she's still in the process of learning this thing we call "life".
Hey all! On this week's episode, I am joined by Ivie Clarke as she shares with us her experience as a newly grad. Ivie discusses her experience with undergrad, the importance of taking a gap year and her new life as a graduate. We further discuss the importance of "finding yourself" and not falling into the pressures of society's definition of success. We've reached the end of season 2! On today's season finale, we talk about being kids and believing our parents could do no wrong. As we've gotten older, we've realized that they're just people and it's okay to notice how we're often different from them. Sometimes we seek validation from our parents and we can get discouraged when they don't see things our way. We know that at the end of the day our parents want the best for us, but what's best is different in their eyes. Whether we have differing opinions on marriage, kids, or education, we are always grateful for them. *From Lisha: Hey guys, this is my last episode with NFR and I am eternally grateful for the memories I've been able to create, the conversations we've had, and the opportunity to share myself with all of you! I'll still be supporting and keeping up with NFR and I cannot wait to see where it goes. Thank you all. Much love! We've had our fair share of social media debates and we see it pretty much everyday. Whether it's defending your favourite celebrity or cancelling someone's existence, sometimes it's just not your fight. In this episode, we talk about the toxicity of cancel culture, entitlement, learning how to mind our business, and separating the art from the artist (or at least trying to). Speaking of artists, we also talk about who we're listening to, old school vs. new school music, what makes a performer, and artists who deserve their flowers. It's been almost a year since the start of the pandemic and things seem to be getting more hectic in more ways than one. You can imagine that our thoughts are all over the place, like this episode. On today's episode, we get into the mind of a guy, Kesiri, and ask all the questions that most girls would want to hear. Have you ever wondered what crushes are like for guys? Do guys date to marry? Is sex the end all be all? It was nice to hear a healthy point of view, especially compared to our past experiences (they're a little crazy). To wrap things up, we discuss what each of us considers to be romance and whether it's dead, or alive and well. For our sake, we hope it's alive. Never settle for less! This episode really blessed us and we enjoyed hearing our guest, Michaella, give her profound insight. We are in no way condemning anyone during this episode, we are also guilty of some of the things we talk about. Our hope is not to scare you, but to enlighten you. On today's episode, we discuss and dissect topics such as astrology, blasphemy, and idols. We know some people are afraid of the word Christianity, but we want to emphasize that your faith is about your personal relationship with God. We can't tell you how to feel or dictate your life, we just wanted to share our truths. Does social media have more of an influence than we think? Like many of you, we have a love-hate relationship with social media. We love being able to connect with people, but it's easy to compare yourself and to basically be told that you're not good enough. Today, we talk with special guest Hilda Oni about the pressure to pursue entrepreneurship, to have a “perfect” figure, and to be a millionaire by the age of 25. Oh, and don't forget the 9-5 slander. Happy New Year NFRMY! Welcome to season 2. We know 2020 was a rough one and we wanted to check in as the year came to a close. On our season finale, we talk with writer, performer, and all around creative Chattrisse. We're both in our early 20s and we wanted insight from someone with a bit more experience on finding the right career for you, financial literacy, navigating dating and more. We always feel as though we have to achieve certain things by a certain age and talking with Chattrisse made us feel understood and more confident about what lies ahead. Our conversation ends with Chattrisse giving advice to her 20 year old self. We hope throughout our first season, you've had the chance to laugh with us, reflect on certain things, and gain insight. Take a look at the media, what do you notice? Who's there? Who's not? And why? Often times, black women are underappreciated and quite frankly attacked. Sometimes, even from our own. In this episode, we talk with special guest Abbie about what we've noticed and some of our experiences with colourism, self-acceptance, and more. Ever heard the phrase “you're pretty for a darkskin girl?”, “good hair”, or ever heard a black man say “I'm getting tired of black girls?” Yeah, we have too and we're tired. We're aware that we couldn't touch on all aspects of these topics, we only have so much time. DISCLAIMER: We are not referring to ALL black men in discussions about black women being disrespected. We've all worked hard to achieve what we currently have. However, sometimes it's hard for us to let go of what was never ours in the first place. You guessed it, we're talking about money. As Christians, we are reminded and we owe everything to Him. In today's episode, we discuss tithing, offering and our personal journey with tipping. We know how easy it is to be stingy with money and we wanted to share with you how we're overcoming this. We hope we're not alone in this because we felt ashamed recording this episode. On today's more mellowed episode, we give you a glimpse into the life of two introverts. Growing up we both experienced ups and downs within friendships. To those experiencing the same thing we wanted to let you know that it's okay to not have many friends. In fact, quality relationships are more important than the number of friends you have. Are you tired of getting your time wasted? Are tired of going with the flow? Do you want to date with purpose? Have you asked yourself what you're doing wrong? It appears that in today's world we accept the bare minimum and date aimlessly.
