Welcome to Return To The Underground, with your host, Kyle Rutchland. Each week I will be sitting down with a different guest (typically someone from the entertainment industry) and we will dive into a deep discussion about an artist that we’re both very fond of. From unknown/undiscovered bands to major label acts, we will be discussing a lot of great music. I got my start in the industry as the bassist for the Los Angeles pop-punk outfit, Green Light Theory. Following our break up in 2016, I then started started my own multimedia concept band, Havoc Faction. You may also know my work as the motion graphic artist @Living_Album_Art, the page that brings iconic album artwork to life. What's up, Undergrounders! I'm super excited to share this brand new episode with you. July 20th will always be hard day for everyone who's an LP fan. I'm glad I was able to have this awesome guest to commiserate with. Matt aka MNERVA is a drummer turned hip-hop artist who infuses rock into his sound. Matt claims Linkin Park as one of his biggest influences and favorite bands, and boy does he prove it. I had a great time discussing this iconic band. There is so much to talk about when it comes to LP and we wish we had time to discuss more, maybe we'll have to do a Part 2 in the future. Until then I hope you enjoy this episode.Follow Matt - @I_Am_MNERVA on all Platforms Blurry Face The Musical - https://www.iheartradio.ca/news/twenty-one-pilots-fan-scraps-blurryface-the-musical-1.10568603Follow Kyle - @Living_Album_Art, @Kyle_RutchlandContinue the discussion, inquire about being a guest, or to sponsor the episode: KPRdriver@gmail.com

Jesea has such a cool and unique way of promoting trending music as well as up and coming artists, be sure to check out his social media sites and give him a follow! Welcome back to a new episode of Return To The Underground. I apologize for the lull between episodes, I've been out of town for a lot of April and have been mainly focussed on my new music. In case you missed it, a song I was featured on was released April 9th (Whyel - Dead To Me ft. Havoc Faction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIdWjTYd-2A) and I'm releasing a new Havoc Faction song titled 'Crossfire' on April 30th, so look out for that. This week's episode is a fun one. I sat down with Matt Skajem aka dESPAIN (formerly of Out With The Old and Best Kept Secret) and we chatted about his start in music and how much Panic! affected him at a young age and inspired his interest in becoming a musician. Enjoy our discussion of P!ATD and their rise to fame and how much more depth this band has than I originally knew. Stay tuned at the end of the episode to catch Matt's newest single Wake Me Up!Follow Matt - @xdespainxMystic Monsters - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axnTXMgPFi0Out With The Old - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIxGXnoqi_EBest Kept Secret - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4dyUo6pUYgdESPAIN - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olTOOpo5Czc Follow Kyle - @Kyle_Rutchland and @Living_Album_Art
What's up Undergrounders, I'm back with a new episode that I'm really psyched to share with you all. I sat down with my buddy Billy Sweet and talked about the legendary band, Sum 41! Billy was such a great guest, this guy just had me cracking up the whole time haha. We both had a lot of fun reminiscing on how Sum 41 made such a huge impact on, not only us, but the scene and music as a whole. So, break out your Dickies, and your Spiked hair styling gel and enjoy our convo about everyone's favorite Canadian punk band. What's up Undergrounders! I finally brought some female energy to the podcast, I know it was very much needed. My awesome guest this week is the lovely Sierra Rose, lead singer of Jersey's own With Sails Ahead. if you love catchy progressive post-hardcore you'll love this band. I was stoked Sierra chose such a great underground band for this episode. For those of you who don't know Lower Definition, I highly suggest checking out their short but awesome discography and then returning to listen. For those of you who totally remember these San Diego locals, you're in for a treat. Be sure to follow Sierra and her band:@WithSailsAhead@SierraPlusUltraFollow Kyle:@Living_Album_Art@Kyle_RutchlandIf you'd like to be a guest or sponsor an episode you can contact me at KPRdriver@gmail.com
Hey Undergrounders, here is my first episode of 2021! I've gotten quite a few requests to do Circa Survive and I luckily was able to get the perfect guest for this episode. David is the frontman of Orange County's hometown heroes, Takers Leavers. This of course is a longer episode with a lot to unpack, but would you expect anything less for a band like Circa? I recently got a new setup and am learning this new mic, so I apologize for any sound issues, but regardless I hope you enjoy this episode. Hope you all are hanging in there and finding as much happiness as possible during these crazy times. I know I've had my fair share of ups and downs, but connecting with all of you through music helps me a lot. I'm always here and open to any sort of discussion so feel free to reach out via email or social media DM's. I finally got to editing this special episode I did with my friend Michael Bevins. He's a producer/mixer/engineer based out of St. Louis, Missouri. He's been in the game for a while and has done some great work. I picked his brain about the production side of music, like what makes a great mix or what goes into mastering. We also talked about some of our favorite and least favorite mixes from bands that we love. If you'd like to hire Michael for mixing, mastering, or producing feel free to reach out at https://www.mbivens.comAdd Michael on Facebook and get your demos critiqued https://www.facebook.com/mbivensIf you'd like to be a guest on my podcast, you can email me at KPRdriver@gmail.com
I've received a lot of requests for a My Chem episode and I luckily found the right guest to do it with. I sat down with my first international guest, Alfie Roberts, bassist of U.K.'s gothic pop-punk band, Vampire Money. They just released Cemetery School, their newest EP and Alfie was very excited to talk about it as well as the huge influence MCR has on him and the band. With My Chemical Romance being who they are, there was a lot to unpack in this episode. If there's any info or fun facts we may have missed about the band, the songs, the albums or the members, feel free to shoot me an email or a DM on my social media sites and I'll be sure to share it. First off, I deeply apologize for the delay in this episode. I took some time to myself and went on a month long road trip over summer and when I got back I went through a moving transition with my girlfriend. Things are starting to settle down now and I'm looking forward to getting back into my groove. Thank you all for your patience. It's been incredible to see consistent download numbers even in my absence, so I appreciate all of your support! This episode was a lot of fun. My guest Ryan Sharp and I had a good time talking about a band who was a staple in the scene back in the early 2000's, with one of the best pop-punk records of all time in our humble opinion. Welcome back, Undergrounders! I'm so excited to finally share this episode with you! My guest this week is Ian Scene. You may know him from his podcasts Ian's Untitled Scene Show as well as Ian Hates Music and Movies. I've been a fan of Ian's podcasts for a little while now, so I was ecstatic that he agreed to be a guest on my show! We dug in deep on one of the scene's best Post-Hardcore bands, From First To Last. I absolutely love this episode! I loved talking about this band because there's so many great topics and they have a very interesting and abnormal career, and Ian was the perfect person to talk about them with. I truly hope you enjoy this episode. I really feel like I'm finding my footing now and like I've mentioned before, I think this podcast is going to keep getting better and better. I've linked Ian's websites below so you can check his content. Thank you all for your continued support! Follow Ian - @RealiansceneSubscribe to Ian’s shows - http://www.ianhates.com/
Happy Friday, everyone! So this episode is a little different. I thought it would be fun to offer some "topic" episodes on my show. This week's guest is Vic Alva, the host of Emo Night Pomona and co host of Emo Night Brooklyn. We discuss some of our favorite 90's Emo bands, 2000's emo bands and the rise of the emo night events, I have more topic episodes to come along with more great band discussions. What's up, undergrounders! This week's episode is a really good one. I got to sit down with my buddy Tim, who's an awesome guitarist who's payed in a few great bands from the SoCal scene, and we talked about one of the greatest band's to ever come out of the SoCal local scene, Thrice! I'll be totally honest, this episode didn't quite have as much structure as previous or upcoming episodes have (I developed my structure a lot more in future episodes) so this is a very free flowing discussion. I highly enjoyed it and I hope you do to. Also, keep in mind that I actually recorded this episode at the end of 2019, so we didn't get to discuss how amazing the Vheissu tour was, which was incredible btw. That was the last time I saw Thrice (February of 2020). It was actually the lost concert I got to attend before quarantine. This episode was also going to be used as promotion for the Thrice Tribute Compilation that I've recently released. Tim was on that comp as well, he covered In Your Hands which you can listen to at the end of the episode and the whole album will be linked below. Thanks for listening and enjoy this special episode. Welcome back, undergrounders! Sorry for the delay on this episode, I was having some issues with the audio, I'm still learning how to make this sound good, so the quality should only be getting better. I appreciate your patience. This week's episode features the frontman of another great band from the SoCal rock scene, Hideouts. Dan and I sat down and talked bout how Hideouts formed, his experience on The Voice, and of course our obsession with the criminally underrated band, Acceptance. As always, feel free to join the discussion, after listening to the episode send me a DM on social media, leave a comment on my post about this episode, or shoot me an email. This week I sit down with my good friend Alex, frontman for the epic pop-punk band, Crash Overcast. Join us as we discuss the one of the most well known bands from the scene, Fall Out Boy. We dove pretty deep in this episode, so I hope you walk away with some insight about the band that you have not had before listening. As always, thank you for returning to the underground. Welcome to the very first episode of Return To The Underground. In this episode I'm joined by the talented Sean Hansen, guitarist and vocalist of True North. We dive into the one and only, Armor For Sleep. We're so excited that they are back to play What To Do When You're Dead in its entirety live for its 15 year anniversary. We discuss when and how we discovered this iconic scene band, the band's beginnings, the concept of What To Do When You're Dead, the band's unfortunate demise, and of course the unreleased demo EP that only the true fans know about. We hope you enjoy our conversation and maybe even learn a something you didn't know about the band.
