If you like any of the following bands...Green Day, Weezer, Fall Out Boy, Blink 182...I've got some really bad news.
Friday mornings are supposed to be easy. Then somebody admits they didn't know what a Long John donut was, and suddenly the entire show is questioning regional food names, the identity of John himself, and whether America can ever truly heal.On this episode of The Rizzuto Show, the gang kicks things off with an unexpectedly passionate discussion about Long Johns, eclairs, and why every city insists on calling the same food something completely different. From there, things get appropriately ridiculous. In music news, Ace Frehley's legendary 1975 Gibson Les Paul sells for over half a million dollars, proving that Kiss fans remain one of the most dedicated—and financially dangerous—fan bases on Earth. The crew dives into the legacy of the iconic guitar, the musicians inspired by it, and why certain pieces of rock history carry a price tag bigger than most houses. The conversation then shifts to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, where former guitarist Josh Klinghoffer says his era with the band has basically been erased from history. The gang debates forgotten albums, band politics, and why some musicians act like entire chapters of their careers never happened.Elsewhere, Madonna surprises fans with a pop-up Pride performance in Times Square, Ted Danson opens up once again about one of the most controversial moments of his career, and Bret Michaels' daughter shares stories about growing up backstage at Poison concerts that absolutely sound like they came from another planet.Movie fans get fed as the crew breaks down reviews for the new Masters of the Universe film, debates whether nostalgia can carry a franchise forever, and discusses famous movie mistakes that accidentally became iconic scenes. Plus, Nightcrawler gets some love, The Birdcage remains a classic, and everyone learns that sometimes the best moments in cinema happen when things go completely off the rails. Then comes the emotional damage. The crew discovers what modern audiences consider "dad rock," and let's just say nobody was emotionally prepared to hear Blink-182, Linkin Park, Korn, Creed, and Fall Out Boy thrown into the same category as classic rock legends. Time comes for us all. You'll also get celebrity birthdays, weird entertainment news, upcoming events, concert talk, and the usual collection of random tangents that somehow make perfect sense inside this daily comedy show. It's another completely normal day for a group of people who somehow get paid to have these conversations.Whether you're here for rock news, celebrity gossip, movie debates, or watching grown adults struggle with the passage of time, this daily comedy show has everything you need to make your Friday slightly more productive—or significantly less productive. Thanks for making The Rizzuto Show part of your routine. If you're looking for laughs, random facts, and a healthy amount of nonsense, this daily comedy show is ready to deliver.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
The crew kicks things off with air show excitement taking over St. Louis. Between Blue Angels screaming across the sky, traffic nightmares in Chesterfield Valley, food truck plans, soccer matches, and Moon somehow scheduling approximately 47 events in a single Saturday, the weekend is already off to a chaotic start. The team also swaps stories about hidden local gems, parks they've somehow ignored for years, and the eternal struggle of trying to get anywhere during a major regional event.Steve Ewing, his wife Beth, and the tragic loss of their dog after an attack in Tower Grove Park. The gang shares thoughts on responsible pet ownership, leash laws, dog training, accountability, and the kind of people who make terrible situations even worse by running away from them. It's an emotional discussion that highlights how quickly an ordinary day can become unforgettable. What's worse—finding out your child is being bullied or finding out your child is the bully? That launches a flood of personal stories, old-school parenting advice, schoolyard fight memories, gym teachers who looked the other way, and lessons learned from growing up in a world where conflict usually worked itself out one way or another. They debate about things that were ruined once too many people discovered them. Food trucks. Craft beer. Airbnb. Festivals. Etsy. Secret parking spots. National parks. Podcasts. Nothing is safe. If you've ever loved something before it became wildly popular and slightly unbearable, you'll probably find yourself nodding along while simultaneously realizing you might be part of the problem. An Olive Garden server receives a massive $700 tip, management gets involved, fraud reviews begin, accusations start flying, Facebook explodes, and suddenly nobody knows who to believe. Along the way you'll hear tales of childhood heroes, local legends, travel headaches, restaurant pet peeves, and the type of random conversations that somehow only make sense when heard together. That's what happens when a group of friends sits down with microphones and starts following every ridiculous tangent to its natural conclusion.Rizz didn't know what a Long John donut was?Which led to a passionate discussion about Long Johns, eclairs, and why every city insists on calling the same food something completely different. From there, things get appropriately ridiculous. In music news, Ace Frehley's legendary 1975 Gibson Les Paul sells for over half a million dollars, proving that Kiss fans remain one of the most dedicated—and financially dangerous—fan bases on Earth. Time comes for us all.The gang dives headfirst into one of the most ridiculous E-Memoriums we've had in a while, featuring cheese addiction, public stupidity, psychedelic suburban dads, shattered aviation dreams, and one of the most unexpectedly wholesome surprises we've ever pulled off.Rafe kicks things off by documenting his descent into dairy madness after being forced onto a 90-day elimination diet. What started as a simple food sensitivity test has turned into a full-blown cheese withdrawal situation. We're talking Gouda cravings, cheddar desperation, and behavior that would get you escorted directly out of a Target. If you've ever loved cheese enough to question your life choices, you'll feel seen.Meanwhile, Rizz discovers there's now a Lost Boys musical on Broadway. That's right. Somewhere, a vampire is singing show tunes and Gen X dads everywhere are suddenly considering season tickets. The crew debates Broadway shows, Book of Mormon, and whether Lost Boys might be the gateway drug that finally gets middle-aged rock fans into theater. Then comes one of the week's strangest news stories as the gang revisits the infamous Hooters incident involving a customer who somehow managed to turn a chicken wing restaurant into the site of a criminal investigation. It leads to a conversation that proves common sense may officially be extinct. The laughs keep coming when Rizz recounts his Primus concert experience. What should have been a nostalgic night of music instead became a fascinating study of what happens when suburban dads try to reconnect with their youth through psychedelics while simultaneously worrying about mortgages, roofing contractors, colonoscopies, and elevated heart rates. It's less Woodstock and more West County Wellness Check. After learning he lost his chance to fly with the Blue Angels, Moon was genuinely crushed. What follows is one of the coolest surprises we've ever pulled off. With help from an incredible listener, a Blue Angels-themed Corvette Stingray appears outside the station, giving Moon the next best thing to taking flight. What starts as a joke quickly becomes a heartfelt moment involving family memories, aviation dreams, and enough horsepower to temporarily heal a broken heart.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.Man arrested for smashing bar window in south St. LouisOlive Garden Faces Backlash After Server Says $700 Tip Led to FiringAce Frehley's main Kiss guitar, the 1975 “Budokan” Gibson Les Paul, sells for over half a million dollars at auctionRam Made An AI-Generated Shirt With A Tacoma On ItVolunteer firefighter arrested for setting blazes and responding to them with his own department during 30-hour arson spreeNew York robber on the run after stealing just $605 from six banks across cityMan allegedly had 11-year-old hold flashlight during burglaryCedar Point bans guest from all Six Flags parks for life after video shows him eating chicken nuggets while riding Millennium Force roller coasterHere's why a Newark flight to Spain had to turn around over the Atlantic68-year-old woman arrested for calling 911 over Jell-O shot denial at Ocala barMan accidentally shoots himself in groin while shopping at Florida WalmartSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

"We're a little egoless. We're happy to just do the content, be a part of the lighting, or help anybody execute and create something cool." — Robb Jibson In this episode, I sit down with Robb Jibson, the founder and creative director of So Midwest, a Chicago-based production design firm. Robb has spent decades building the visual experiences that define live music for artists like Fall Out Boy, Incubus, and Panic! At The Disco. We discuss his journey from a teenager in Michigan to the center of the concert production world. Episode highlights The "Tetanus" origin story: Robb recounts his early days in a metal band called Tetanus and how an attempt to use car headlights for stage lighting led to a run-in with the law and a formative stint doing community service at the Frauenthal Theater. Touring with the Backstreet Boys: At just 19 years old, Robb landed a spot on a tour with the Backstreet Boys during the height of their popularity. The birth of So Midwest: Originally started as a tax shelter while touring with Incubus, the company name was inspired by a simple 1-inch button found at the Empty Bottle. The shift to motion graphics: Robb explains how the industry transitioned from "smoky beams of light" to complex video content and 3D animation around 2007. Working with Chicago legends: We talk about his long-standing relationships with local favorites like Alkaline Trio, The Lawrence Arms, and Chevelle. A great song title is like a snappy headline: It grabs you and pulls you in with just a few words. With so much riding on that kind of first impression, you'd think more artists would strive to come up with the best song titles possible. Yet in truth, many artists settle for ordinary and unimaginative titles all the time. That's their loss. This week the hosts of "How We Heard It" reveal some of their favorite attention-grabbing song titles. Some made them laugh, some made them cringe, and some just made them want to hear the song to find out what is going on. It turns out some are meaningless, some have double meaning and some are just bizarre. Titles that made the list vary from "The Devil Wears Panties" to "Delicious Demon," from "Angst in My Pants" to "Hot Pants Explosion" and from "Everything Reminds Me of My Dog" to "I Wanna Be Your Dog." Some of these songs were popular with the mainstream, including "The Sound of Silence," "Hotline Bling" and "Smells Like Teen Spirit"; others, like "Teenage Lobotomy," "Kiss Me Where It Smells Funny" and "The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun," cultivated a cult following. And others, like "Ashtray Heart," "Take the Skinheads Bowling" and "Tell That Girl to Shut Up," were strictly underground. Meanwhile, the artists include everyone from The Beatles and Bob Dylan to Muse and Fall Out Boy to Olivia Rodrigo and The Weeknd. With all the bland song titles out there, it's time to celebrate those that stand out.
"If Paramore and Cute Is What We Aim For only released one album, I think Cute Is What We Aim For would have gone down as a more popular band." Fred Cimato joins the podcast to set the record straight on the legacy of Cute Is What We Aim For. He discusses the "indefensible" behavior of frontman Shaant Hacikyan, the stalled 2026 reunion plans, and why he hated recording 'Rotation' with John Feldmann. Fred Cimato is finally talking. After blowing up on TikTok with the real story behind Cute Is What We Aim For, the founding bassist joins us to set the record straight on one of the most chaotic bands in Fueled By Ramen history. He opens up about the "indefensible" behavior of frontman Shaant Hacikyan, why the 2026 reunion tour is stalled, and the painful reality of watching their labelmates Paramore become superstars while his band imploded. Fred also details the disaster of recording 'Rotation' with John Feldmann ("a dog sh*t record"), why 'The Same Old Blood Rush with a New Touch' was a bigger debut than anyone admits, and the secrets behind "Curse of Curves." "Nobody has more reason to hate that guy than I do. Nobody... But, like, a lot of people have it wrong, and people add stuff onto him that he doesn't deserve." "I thought that Feldman was a terrible producer. I thought he was the worst guy ever for the job... I thought we were making a dog s*** record." JOIN THE CLUB! I think that a lot of people argue about what emo is because they're trying to protect their own identity as part of it. The Emo Social Club debuts on Idobi Radio! Brian and Lizzie discuss the Warped Tour 2026 lineup announcements and the reality of festival budgets. Brian argues that while fans want My Chemical Romance, the price tag might be impossible for the tour to sustain. The Emo Social Club has officially moved to Idobi Radio! For our debut episode, we look at the only news that matters right now: The Warped Tour 2026 lineup announcements. Brian and Lizzie debate which heavy hitters are likely to take the main stage—from the return of Fall Out Boy to the potential for a Bring Me The Horizon headline slot. Brian argues that while fans want My Chemical Romance, the price tag might be impossible for the tour to sustain. Plus, we tackle the internet's favorite argument: Gatekeeping. We look back at being "called emo" in 2005 vs. 2026, and why the term "Midwest Emo" might just be a weather pattern rather than a genre. Whether you were in the pit in 2005 or discovered the scene on TikTok, this episode covers the past, present, and future of pop punk. "I think that a lot of people argue about what emo is because they're trying to protect their own identity as part of it." "I think what happens in the Midwest is generally more influential on emo music than what happens on the coasts." "Realistically, I'm like, Warped Tour cannot afford My Chemical Romance. That is millions of dollars." JOIN THE CLUB! Alt-pop artist CARR joins Caught on the Mike for an honest conversation about storytelling, fleeting relationships, and stepping into a bold new creative era. Fresh off the release of her new single “Mud,” CARR breaks down how one unforgettable night turned into a cinematic anthem — and how moments that don't last can still leave a permanent mark. She also dives into the making of her upcoming album CARRGIRRL, out March 20 via DCD2 Records, and what this next chapter represents for her as an artist. We talk about her unconventional path into music, from late nights working at a recording studio to catching the attention of Pete Wentz and signing to his label. CARR also reflects on life on the road, touring with Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Eat World, and more, and how live performance continues to shape her songwriting. If you're into alt-pop, alternative rock, honest lyrics, and artist journeys that don't follow the usual rules, this episode is for you.
And then it's, like, the coolest thing you've ever f***ing heard.Brian and Lizzie dive into the cultural impact and musical complexity of Twenty One Pilots' 2015 masterpiece, Blurryface. They explore the album's guerrilla marketing leak, its consortium of A-list producers, and its lasting influence on the pop landscape. Was Blurryface the biggest record to emerge from the 2010s emo scene? Brian and Lizzie investigate the monumental impact of Twenty One Pilots' 2015 genre-defying album. They discuss the duo's Ohio roots, their place in Fueled by Ramen's emo history, and the album's unique production, which brought together producers from hip hop, pop, and indie rock. The hosts explore the strategic album leak, the creation of the 'Blurryface' character to personify insecurity and mental health struggles, and how the record smuggled alternative art into the mainstream. Featuring in-depth analysis of landmark tracks like the billion-stream hit "Stressed Out," the reggae-infused "Ride," and the fan-favorite "Tear In My Heart," this episode debates whether the album's pop punk adjacency and massive success cement its place as one of the best emo albums of all time. "This is very much a radio sounding record, although the music and the songwriting is not super radio friendly.""By wrapping a high concept album about depression and insecurity in glossy pop production, Twenty One Pilots smuggled alternative art into the mainstream.""I wasn't raised in the hood, but I know a thing or two about pain and darkness. And it's like, I don't think that you need to say that in a rap song." For a generation who felt like outsiders in the late 2000s, the emo scene felt like the one place where they could belong—and make sense of the chaos inside, as their favorite artists began to express the pain they held within their hearts: As Bert McCracken of The Used once said, “Music is church, therapy, and philosophy all wrapped up into one.” And that's exactly what this scene became. From the explosive confessions of “Take It Away” to Panic! at the Disco pacing the church aisles in “I Write Sins Not Tragedies,” from Hayley Williams of Paramore shouting “The truth never set me free—so I'll do it myself” to My Chemical Romance singing revenge, resurrection, and spiritual crisis across Three Cheers—emo wasn't afraid to rip open the human heart and let everything spill out. But what was quickly learned was that many who saw this as therapy could also take it to a place of no return. After 13-year-old Hannah Bond chose to delete herself, emo became Public Enemy Number 1. In 2008, the Daily Mail fired the headline heard around the globe: “Why No Child Is Safe from the Sinister Cult of Emo.” Suddenly, a culture built for struggling youth was being shown as something dark and dangerous, with fans of the genre fighting against the current of their day attempting to drift people away from the emotional music of the generation. But now it's 2025; those late-2000s outsiders have grown up—and emo is rising again. My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Taking Back Sunday, Jimmy Eat World—the bands who shaped a generation are continuing to play shows, and their fans are right back in their black eyeliner and emotional armor. What was emo really preaching? Because these weren't just break-up anthems—they were songs about identity, guilt, rebellion, spiritual confusion, and the longing for something beyond the pain. What we want to look at is the controversy, the comeback, and the worldview behind the music that became a church, therapy, and philosophy for millions. Send us a textWhat do a classroom of kid rockers, a surfing penguin, and a keyblade have to do with a modern pop-rock band? We invited Arrows In Action to walk us through the five influences that actually shaped their sound and the world around their new record, “I Think I've Been Here Before.” The through-line isn't random; it's a map of how community, big melodies, and vivid, even unlikely, references can turn into songs that feel immediate and alive. We start with School of Rock as the north star for band life—joyful, scrappy, and possible—then move through first shows and first loves: Mayday Parade in a Florida parking lot and the earnest, high-voltage writing that stuck. Fall Out Boy anchors a craft lesson: melody first, lyrics bent to fit with conviction, and a fearless approach to range and runs learned on early morning walks. The conversation swerves to Surfs Up, a surprising but perfect fit; its sun-faded soundtrack and underdog heart seeped into the album's front half, right down to a track that syncs to the film's final surf sequence. And Kingdom Hearts adds scale and stakes—cinematic intros, friendship-as-compass themes, and little glints of “video game” texture that give their arrangements lift.We dig into how the band rebuilt in 2018, moved in together, wrote relentlessly, and designed this release as two cohesive halves with their own tones. They talk intentional choices—synth colors, vocal stacks, and tempos—that keep the record tight without losing contrast. There are tour stories, a drum kit disaster turned crowd moment, closer debates, and practical advice for any band trying to “do it for real”: keep improving the music, copy what works and make it yours, persist when numbers dip, and make sure it stays fun.If you love pop-punk, emo-adjacent hooks, and big-hearted songwriting, this one's for you. Hit play, stream “I Think I've Been Here Before,” and tell us which influence you hear first. And if you enjoyed the show, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a quick review—your support helps more listeners find the music and the stories behind it.Follow My Pop Five: @mypopfive on all platforms We'll see you next time. Fall Out Boy is a band from Chicago that formed in 2001. Their first album, Take This To Your Grave, was a hit, especially in the punk rock world. When they put out their second album, though, in 2005, that was on a whole other scale. That album is called From Under the Cork Tree, and it went double platinum, and they were nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist. For this episode, I talked to the band's singer, Patrick Stump, about how they made their breakout hit from that album, the song “Sugar, We're Goin Down.” For more info, visit songexploder.net/fall-out-boy.
