On today's special edition of the cast, I give you a sneak peek of the When We Were Young music festival that I'll be attending next weekend out in Las Vegas, highlighting some of the many acts who will be performing their albums in its entirety including Underoath, Saves The Day, New Found Glory, Taking Back Sunday, and a whole host of others. I also talk about how this emo-leaning lineup seeks to reinvigorate the musical memories it's bound to conjure up for all the attendees who will be flocking in droves from the world over to check out. his once in a lifetime event. I also talk about the bands that I'm most excited to see out there, some of the fun activities that I'll be partaking out there including lounging by the pool and the plethora of restaurants that are abound out there in Sin City. I also play a selection of songs from some of the acts that I grew up listening to including Armor For Sleep, Jimmy Eat World, and The Starting Line.
Keith sits down with Ben Jorgensen to discuss early musical influences, the formation of Armor for Sleep, recording the debut LP "Dream to Make Believe" and some struggles the band endured during the making of the record and after its release. We also discuss the making of their follow up LP "What To Do When You Are Dead", the band's rise in notoriety after its release, signing with Warner Brothers Records, their major label experience and first hiatus in 2009, their reformation, the band's 2022 LP "The Rain Museum", mental health, physical fitness and more.

When Ben Jorgenson began to write a new record for his band Armor For Sleep, their first new music in over 10 years, his mind began to conjure a dystopian world, a post apocalyptic Earth with a museum that held pieces of the old world to remind us all of the past. It also happened that he was working through and dealing with a difficult divorce, and those troubles inevitably found their way into the narrative as he dovetailed them into a piece of music he called The Rain Museum. It's a dark and beautiful peice of work that is easily their most accomplished. Now AFS is gearing up for another tour and their fans have grown with them and refuse to let go as they pack in to every venue and sing every dark and beautiful word.

Ben from Armor for Sleep and I go back to his days on EVR and the "What To Do When You Are Dead" album, that I spent two years of my life working on. I was learning so much about the music industry and completely naive that a small indie label could compete with the majors in radio and video.
