On this episode Ryan Sharp from Coming this Summer podcast makes a guest appearance without his cohorts, is cohorts a word? Anyway Carmen talks about how on the previous pod without Ryan how he still called Ryans name. Thus phantom pains of feeling he was there but he was not. Also we talk about some bad Advent calendars, Halloween candy overload and how to get rid of it and much more.
In this strange episode Carmen and Donny talk with Ryan Sharp and Jeremy Martin from the Bean and Super Bad Show and the Coming This Summer Podcast. The difference in generations is clear in this episode starting with how each generation decides who their friends are. Back in the 80s things were clearly different including how comfortable guys were in front of each other in the locker room. Showering in schools is not common anymore and after this episode you'll know why.

In this milestone episode of Wine Crush, we are welcomed by the spirited host who is bubbling with enthusiasm as Season 7 advances to Episode 8. This episode features two distinct yet compelling winemakers: Ryan Sharp from Enso Winery and Lizzie with Lagniappe Wines (previously known for her 'Fizzy Lizzy').First in the hot seat is Ryan Sharp, hailing from Enso Winery. Ryan traces his circuitous path to winemaking, recounting his early days transitioning from graphic design to wine production, driven by his passion for hands-on, earthy work. Ryan delves into the inception of Enso Winery and shares the challenges faced in popularizing the concept of an urban winery in Southeast Portland.Ryan reveals that his fascination with wine evolved over various careers and his first projects practically lacked typical winery amenities. His story is peppered with anecdotes about DIY solutions and relentless aspiration, from drawing inspiration from traditional Burgundy practices to making his wines in Salisbury.Interestingly, Ryan's philosophy of Enzo (a Japanese term referring to a single brushstroke circle representing the moment) mirrors his approach to making wine. He explains his reluctance to produce Pinot Noir initially because of the competition but found an innovative angle by co-fermenting it with white wine grapes, creating a distinct vintage true to the moment's uniqueness.Next, we shift to Lizzie with her brand Lagniappe Wines (originally known for Fizzy Lizzy). Lizzie's journey kicks off ambitiously in New Orleans and travels through prestigious wine regions across the globe, including Burgundy and Chile. Lizzie shares her story of acquiring the travel bug, working in diverse regions, and ultimately planting roots in Oregon after a rewarding yet unexpected stop during the pandemic.Lizzie's vibrant personality shines through as she discusses sourcing fruits from adventurous regions such as the Columbia Gorge. Her whimsical yet insightful recount of her first commercial success with Fizzy Lizzy's swamp water Pet-Nat provides a captivating glimpse into her dynamic world of wine creation. Lizzie's emotional and professional trajectory illustrates the intersections of culture, tradition, community, and innovation. In closing, both Ryan and Lizzie discuss their current offerings and interaction in the community. Lizzie's recent introduction to Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Chenin Blanc, and Riesling adds an exciting dimension to her evolving portfolio. Meanwhile, Ryan's continued focus on interesting blends and urban winery ambiance in Portland offers a sophisticated yet accessible venture into the wine world.

From the beginning, church leaders criticized the Emerging Church Movement. At times painful, at other times laughable, it came from the right and the left. The critics took on what ECM leaders said and wrote, how they led churches, and even how they looked. And none were more the target of criticism than Brian McLaren, Doug Pagitt, and Nadia Bolz-Weber. In this episode, they get to hear clips of that criticism — some for the first time — and respond in real time. You'll hear what they learned, what they regret, and some never-before-told behind-the-scenes stories. ______ Emerged is a crowdfunded project. In 2011, Tripp sat down with Rachel Held Evans (1981-2019) to record some conversations for a project that never got off the ground. This never-before-heard audio provides a fascinating glimpse into what was going on in the church and the world — and in the head and heart of one of the most beloved Christian authors at the time. But it also reveals just how much has changed, and how no one in 2011 could have foreseen the political and cultural upheavals that would rock the evangelical church. Also joining us on this episode are Ryan Burge, to discuss those changes, and Nadia Bolz-Weber, to share what it was like to meet Rachel, befriend her, and lose her. ______ Music by The Cobalt Season (compliments of Ryan Sharp), Solomon's Porch (compliments of Ben Johnson) Emerged is a crowdfunded project. For all the talk about theology and postmodernism, for all the books and conferences, the heart of the Emerging Church Movement was always one thing: planting new churches. In this episode, we sit down for extended conversations with two ECM pastors: Tim Keel planted Jacob's Well in Kansas City, and he's now pastoring it toward its 25th anniversary, and Danielle Shroyer was the pastor at Journey in Dallas from 2005 to 2014. Phyllis Tickle (1934-2015) was a force of nature. She was a poet, author, publisher, teacher, professor, and so much more. She was one of the leading experts on the church in America, and her Divine Hours books introduced a generation of Christians to fixed hour prayer. And in the mid-2000s, she became a leading ally for and advocate of the Emerging Church Movement. She seemed the unlikeliest emergent – a lay Anglican in her late 60s, hanging around with a bunch of disgruntled GenX evangelical pastors – but by the time her book, The Great Emergence, came out, she had established herself as a leading voice in the movement. And there can be no doubt that her stature earned the movement great credibility in the eyes of many who would have otherwise been dubious. Phyllis spent the final decade of her life preaching emergence, and in this episode, we examine her legacy. Guests include Jon Sweeney, Brian McLaren, Nadia Bolz-Weber and Diana Butler Bass. By 2001, a lot had changed for the nascent emerging church movement: Doug Pagitt left Leadership Network to start a church, and shortly thereafter, Leadership Network shut down the Young Leaders Network. (Also, a notorious pastor in Seattle was asked to leave the group.) The “Group of 20” became the “Terra Nova Project,” before ultimately settling on the name, Emergent Village. Ecclesia Church in Houston hosted a conference on the Bible in postmodern society – it was a success, and the momentum increased. Then came book deals and the Emergent Convention, so that by 2005, the movement was at its peak. Guests in this episode include Dwight Friesen, Doug Pagitt, Brian McLaren, Brad Smith, Lilly Lewin, Mark Scandrette, Chris Seay, Michael Toy, and Mark Oestreicher. Many people point to the Re:Evaluation Forum, held at the Glorieta Conference Center in October, 1998, as the birth of the Emerging Church Movement. That gathering followed a chain of events that included the founding of Young Leaders Network in 1993, and seminal conferences at Glen Eyrie in 1996 and Mt. Hermon in 1997. And at that latter conference, Mark Driscoll made his national debut — he also had to ask for forgiveness from the audience. Ultimately, after some planning meetings, The National Re:Evaluation Forum was held and, as Chris Seay says in this episode, “There's pre-Glorieta and there's post-Glorieta.” Also, Brian McLaren arrives on the scene. Guests on this episode include Doug Pagitt, Brian McLaren, Brad Smith, Morgan Leigh McKenna, Brad Cecil, Tim Conder, Andrew Jones, and Chris Seay. While Isaiah taught many precious truths about the life and Atonement of Jesus Christ, his teachings were anything but plain and simple. But what approaches can we take to engage with complex passages of scripture? In “‘Except Some Man Should Guide Me': Studying Isaiah with Nephi and Jacob,” Ryan Sharp, professor of ancient scripture, outlines the divine role the Book of Mormon prophets play in understanding Isaiah. Nephi wrote, “For I will liken [Isaiah's] words unto my people” (2 Nephi 11:2). In this episode, Dr. Sharp outlines Nephi and Jacob's pedagogy, naming their three-step approach as the setup, the passages, and the follow-up. In addition, he explains how to apply the method in our own scripture study. In following this model, our souls may also delight in the words of Isaiah. Colts preseason opening loss lacks excellence, but that's the point. Frank Reich says Matt Ryan "sharp" - I beg to differ. Kylen Granson, Jelani Woods, and Andrew Ogletree look like a good group of tight ends. (at 9:28) Why the Colts will practice starters against the Lions but not play them on Saturday in front of paying customers is a solid question! (at 10:45) Indiana Fever season comes to a wretched end. (at 11:15) Indiana Football undecided on a starting quarterback, which brings to mind an old saying about starting quarterbacks. (at 13:03) Albert Pujols lifts Cardinals to key win over Brewers! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the-kent-sterling-show/support

When we hear the name of Samuel the Lamanite, most of us know his epic story on the wall. That, however, is part of the problem. We know the drama of his escape, but often have overlooked the depths of his doctrinal teachings and prophetic message. Are some of us like the Nephites who were admonished by Jesus for overlooking the prophecies of Samuel? In this episode professor Ryan Sharp helps us remember Samuel the Lamanite from a historical, prophetic, and doctrinal perspective.
The boys are back for Episode 10. In this episode, you'll get to know more about Ryan Sharp, our spotlight host this week, a Covid conversation hearing about experiences the crew has had these past few weeks, and an in-depth debate on the Kyle Rittenhouse case that just announced the jury verdict on all charges. Things get a bit spirited during this podcast! Enjoy...
Mr. Matthew Ryan Sharp is good people. We connected over hard work and passion a few years back and have stayed in contact and he might even call me his friend. His style and attention to detail amazes me and knowing how focused he is on it all being hand-drawn and aligned with his vision makes them even more impressive. I had the pleasure of hanging in Cincy at Rhinegeist with him and @warnick back in 2019 which seems like years ago. We ate (one of the best chicken sandwiches!!), drank and laughed. It was magical. A little over a year ago a horrific accident included lightning striking his home and causing it to burn down and lose so much of his work and possessions. Thankfully no one was hurt physically but the rebuilding process is ongoing and something that we talked about in the episode. He's honest and genuine and a huge supporter of mine. On the surface, you may judge him since he is tattoed from ass to elbow, but please don't. He's a kind and genuine soul who loves his family and friends. Enjoy this episode and get to know what my friend is all about. Don't forget to like and subscribe on Youtube. That's what all the kids say so I am working that pitch into our commentary.

First off, I deeply apologize for the delay in this episode. I took some time to myself and went on a month long road trip over summer and when I got back I went through a moving transition with my girlfriend. Things are starting to settle down now and I'm looking forward to getting back into my groove. Thank you all for your patience. It's been incredible to see consistent download numbers even in my absence, so I appreciate all of your support! This episode was a lot of fun. My guest Ryan Sharp and I had a good time talking about a band who was a staple in the scene back in the early 2000's, with one of the best pop-punk records of all time in our humble opinion. This episode we're honored to talk with the organization who essentially created Church Online. Life.Church is one of the pioneering churches out there creating a movement in digital church. Having watched the Life.Church movement grow over the years, I was almost closet fanboy in this conversation, geeking out over methods and systems that Life.Church utilizes. That being said, the thing that surprised me the most was how this megachurch, really this gigachurch, was grounded in reality of the individual. A church with dozens of physical campuses… not including over tens of thousands of people watching online across every major continent… I had imagined attending a church like Life.Church would be easy for an individual to get lost. That's the hardest part of Church Online, right? Preventing people from attending church in isolation? Ryan and Life.Church in general, have discovered that to grow Church Online you don't need nameless individuals staring at video displays… The first step to Church Online is realizing that every number, in fact, has a name.
