BEING vs. BECOMING: "Defined By The Story We Tell Our Self." A drum BEATS inside of all of us. Some hear it. And answer that call. Some don't. StoryAthlete is for the 5% of the population who feels called to "Become..." something more. StoryAthlete is on a mission to Grow businesses. Fight depressio…
Ryan Fletcher - Grow businesses. Fight depression. Destroy the Lesser Self
Welcome to the Isolation Economy. In the span of one week, everything changed. What is happening right now, with the COVID-19 pandemic, is unprecedented. Few people know what is really going on. All questions, no answers. We're told to isolate ourselves. The government has mandated the closure of schools, restaurants, bars, recreational facilities, which include gyms and health clubs. Tens of millions of people have had their ability-to-provide, stripped from them. So what do we do? How do we respond?
This is how 'Fat Ryan' became a slave to his Heroic Self. We play the Game to change our Life. To transform our business. To defeat our Lesser Self. To create happiness and fulfillment. To build and document our legacy. But most of all, we play the Game because the challenge of the Game itself, the 1% Journey, being vs. becoming, creates a never-ending continuum of growth and sustained Flow. Learning to write a better Life-Story is an unparalleled skill.
(EDP) is a protocol to gain an extreme advantage over business and life-competitors. When you start building entire companies in six months. And start writing books every 90-Days. And start to architect new products and sales funnels almost weekly. Not to mention, front-end products that drive multiple back-end revenue channels. And lose weight. And achieve fitness. And strengthen your relationships. And, your singular output is equivalent to 4 or 5 employees, your competitive advantage is unmatched.
The secret playbook to creating content. Life is the plot. You are the Character. The plot exists to break the Character. To test the Character. To challenge the Character. To force the Character to change and grow. As a victim, you can wait for Life to do this to you. Or, as a StoryAthlete, living the Challenge-Based Life, you can choose to make your life hard and use the Journey of Pain to your advantage. To inspire, capture attention, and multiply profits.
Every political strategist on earth aims to create the narrative. Why do entrepreneurs, on behalf of their product, service, and Character, not do the same? It makes no sense. Further, there are two kinds of attention: Automatic Attention vs. Controlled Attention. Most marketers spend 90% of their time fighting to get the first kind of attention. Then spend only 10% of their time to earn the right to hold and keep it. Once you learn to flip that, as StoryAthletes have, everything changes.
To purchase attention, Story is the currency required. But we aren't writing novels. We aren't Stephen King or James Patterson. Leave the Harry Potter stuff, massive plots and crafting complex narratives, to JK Rowling. The fastest way to connect with an audience is by writing 300 words. These assets are then leveraged to serve dozens of mission objectives to drive the business or cause forward. Further, 359 words. How sitcom-based content turns the audience into customers, into evangelists.
No tactic or strategy can save a poorly designed business model. Once you go down the wrong rabbit hole, regarding product-design or concept, trying to escape that deficit, pretty much destroys you. Plenty of entrepreneurs know this truth. Design it right. Build it once. Pivot when needed. Design it wrong? Struggle forever. So, let's talk model. Or, more importantly, let's talk objective.
Our reputation, good or bad, gets created in minutes. Not weeks, months or years. That reputation then spreads at the speed of social media. Ten years ago, Conscious Capitalism wasn't a phrase anyone knew. Sinek wasn't writing about the companies, best positioned for the long-game, are those passionately fighting for a Just Cause. Times have changed. Entrepreneurs are affected. Those who adapt, win. Those who don't, die. A Just Cause is the ultimate advantage.
The old methods of business no longer work. Times have changed. Most entrepreneurs are taught a system that focuses on marketing and sales. This leads to two (compounding) fatal outcomes. Commoditized products and services. And ineffective, sensationalized marketing. This ends in the intense need to sell, sell, sell. Where Relationship-equity is the after-thought. Leading the business to extreme foundational weakness. To change this, StoryAthletes deploy the two foundational tenets of a Profitable Impact Business to transform people and communities, while achieving superior financial security. Listen in.
Lesser Self vs. Heroic Self. If you defeat this one enemy, everything you want in life can be had. This Enemy, the Lesser Self that lives inside of all of us, is the cause of "Someday Syndrome." It is responsible for every problem in our life. Broken business. Fat. Out fo shape. Poor income. Neglected relationships. Everything is everybody else's fault. No. Not true. And once we defeat this Enemy, the Lesser Self, everything changes for us. Transformation happens. We tell our stories. We become the light to others in the Dark.
StoryAthlete hosts two masterminds for the Community each year. This is my opening talk from the Fall 2019 Event. It covers the 3 things that destroy a business, and the 10 things to build a Category King. Through ImpactClub®, the parent company to StoryAthlete, $2+ million has been donated to local charities. Building a business is not just about profit. It is also about impact.
To understand the future, you need to understand the origin. You and I are not like others. What works for them, doesn't work for us. What scares them, doesn't scare us. How they live their life, isn't how we live ours. When it comes to success, happiness, and achievement, our chosen methods are the opposite. They do not understand us. Therefore, they cannot help us. Work-Life Balance is a failed model. For us, Work-Life Integration is the only path forward.
