“In the old days, families worked together, like on a farm, and that's the model we wanted to create for ourselves at EO Products.” —Brad Black Most businesses die because they chase profits instead of purpose—a raw, honest truth that cuts to the core of entrepreneurial burnout and lost passion. A lot of entrepreneurs pour their hearts and soul into a business, only to become a slave to spreadsheets and profit margins. But what if there was another way? Brad and Susan Black, co-founders of EO Products, are pioneering entrepreneurs who transformed a passionate curiosity about essential oils into a 30-year sustainable business empire. With backgrounds spanning fashion, product design, and holistic wellness, they've built a company that seamlessly integrates purpose, profitability, and principled leadership. Tune in as Justine, Susan, and Brad reveal how shared values, resilience through personal challenges, commitment to sustainable practices, and a radical approach to business can create a brand that transcends traditional profit-making models while inspiring meaningful change. Meet Susan and Brad: Susan Griffin-Black is a visionary product designer and co-founder of EO Products, with a background in fashion and a passion for natural wellness. After a transformative experience in a London apothecary, she studied aromatherapy and cosmetic chemistry, becoming an expert in essential oils. His focus on responsible decision-making and community-driven business models has been key to the company's success. In 1995, Susan and Brad co-founded EO Products, leveraging their complementary skills and shared values to create a pioneering natural personal care brand. "There's incentive to keep people sick because Big Pharmaceutical will profit off of it, and then they'll prescribe the medications and the medications to combat the side effects of their own medications. It's a vicious cycle that's very hard to escape." - Nathan Graville Peptides + MSCs "Peptides and MSCs are the future of longevity. These are two therapeutics that will get us to living into our hundreds. When you do a MSC IV, it's going to find out where in your body you need healing and it's going to go to those areas on its own. This is potentially the most powerful therapeutic that we know about in existence as it relates to longevity." - Nathan Graville Feeling Healthy Doesn't Equal Being Healthy "There's no way to know if you're healthy based on just how you feel. You can have elevated markers that are directly correlated to all-cause mortality. Which is why looking underneath the hood is so crucially important. The only way to know is by doing a routine blood work." - Nathan Graville Links From Today's Show Nathan Graville Geviti Conscious Capitalism by John Mackey + Raj Sisodia 734 Kirk Parsley MD | Sleep As Medicine: How To Sleep Like Royalty + Stop Being Sick 694 Shawn Wells | Your Ultimate Guide To Healing Mental + Physical Health NOOTOPIA (10% off with code JOSH10) Joy Kong MD Josh's Trusted Products | Up To 40% Off Shop All Products Biohacking MANNA Vitality - Save 20% with code JOSH20 HigherDOSE - 15% off with the code WELLNESSANDWISDOM PLUNGE - $150 off with discount code WELLNESSFORCE Pulsetto - Save 20% with code "JOSH" SaunaSpace - 10% off with discount code JOSH10 Ultrahuman Ring Air - 10% off with code JOSH NutriSense - 30% off with WELLNESSFORCE Wellness Test Kits Choose Joi - Save 50% on all Lab Tests with JOSH Blokes - Save 50% on all Lab Tests with JOSH FertilityWize Test by Clockwize - Save 10% with code JOSH Tiny Health Gut Tests - $20 off with discount code JOSH20 VIVOO Health Tests - Save 30% off with code JOSH SiPhox Health Blood Test - Save 15% off with code JOSH Nutrition + Gut Health Organifi - 20% off with discount code WELLNESSFORCE SEED Synbiotic - 25% off with the code 25JOSHTRENT Paleovalley - Save 15% off here! Abhay shares a conversation with Satyajit Hange, co-founding farmer of Two Brothers Organic Farms, located in Bhodani, a rural village in Maharasthra. They chatted about generational influences on his journey, grappling with the challenges of running an eco-conscious enterprise, and even the impact of his Vedic philosophy on his mission, vision, and values.(0:00 - 3:10) Introduction(3:10) Part 1 - nostalgia, typical farming day, tensions and purpose(19:29) Part 2 - combating forces, leaving the corporate world for farming, competition (35:37) Part 3 - suprises from visitors, Vedic literature and "swadharma", conversations with previous generations(49:04) ConclusionOK - so in my book and in my mind, earth day really is everyday and lately, with each successive day, it seems like when it comes to the earth and climate, retro is actually quite innovative. So I've been asking myself the following almost “time machine” question. And here it is: How would our foremothers and forefathers from a few generations ago react if they saw a slice of our current world and enviroment? I know they would be fascinated with so many improvements and major advances, but it seems that we would have a lot to learn from them to maybe urgently integrate into our practices today of how we preserve and conserve, treat the land we inhabit, and live consciously with engagement. It's certainly a question that was top of mind, as I shared a conversation with Satyajit Hange, one of the co-founding farmers of Two Brothers Organic Farms. Satyajit is a 4th generation farmer in Bhodani (भोडणी), which is about ½ way between Pune and Solapur in Maharashtra. After going away to boarding school and then starting his post-MBA career in the marketing, banking, and education sectors, Satyajit felt his purpose was meant to be elsewhere, and so he, along with his brother Ajinkya, started Two Brothers Organic Farms to make a difference in sustainable rural agriculture. Foundationally, they've been committed to 100% organic nutrition, humane indigenous animal welfare and farming practices using intercropping, heirloom seeding, and a superb focus on soil health and even bee pollination. But one of the more amazing by-products of this has been the galvanizing effect on the community with training and education not only for their own teams, but for thousands of local farmers. I particularly would also call out a spirit of activism, advocating for food labeling transparency and even the tech to monitor a traceable pathway back to the origin of each product. It's a pretty 2025 way of respecting practices that were likely quite normal back several generations ago, and while Satyajit and Two Brothers Organic Farms have come a long way from sharing delicious papayas at local fruit stands to now distributing food across the globe, when I caught up with him to chat about it all, I first wanted to know how much of his ongoing journey has been driven by that inherent nostalgia for farming life that has run so deep for many generations in his family?Learn more about Satyajit, his brother Ajinkya, and their work at twobrothersfood.com

Welcome back, today I want to talk about some ways that we as empathpreneurs and leaders can set ourselves up to thrive in a world that is feeling increasingly chaotic and unsafe for so many. As empaths are uniquely motivated by impact and mission, now more than ever, we need to be committed to thriving—not surviving. I think that leading with heart, learning how to make continued strategic decisions in the face of uncertain times in this VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity) world that we're facing is the key to creating lasting positive change. Topics Discussed: Learning to respond to our own emotions with curiosity, permission, and honesty rather than trying to hide or “fix” our feelings Why we have to learn to accept our current reality so we can get connected with our higher purpose and the difference that we want to make Why self-care and self-preservation are non-negotiable business strategies in order to connect with your intuition and creativity Breaking free from Internalized Capitalism and leaning into Conscious Capitalism instead Episode Resources: Read: Internalized Capitalism and Four Conscious Ways to Combat it Listen: The Power of Rest and Resistance for HSPs Listen: The Power of a Morning Routine The Art of Gathering by Priya Parker Connect with Catherine: Apply to join the free Unbounded community, a vibrant group of empathpreneurs who are passionate about supporting each other on our entrepreneurial journeys.
