6:05- What does it mean to live a fear driven life and why do Miranda and Ben feel this is how they have lived their lives   30:35- Are we coaches because we prefer to point someone else toward the challenge they need to take on instead of us moving through challenges ourselves? i.e. The problem with 25 year old life coaches.    34:45- Fear defined   35:15- Why there is hope for change

    The Comfort Zone

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 22, 2019 39:34

Miranda sits down with Ben to discuss a conversation she had recently with an athlete of hers regarding an opportunity that was available to him but that required him to jump out into the seemingly unknown.  That brought the conversation to comfort zones and when being comfortable may be ok versus when being comfortable prevents us from achieving our best life.    :55- Why are we talking about comfort zones?  3:40- But what's the problem? Routine offers an opportunity to avoid decision fatigue and creates great opportunity for impact (Wilnic's "Discipline equals freedom" for example) so why would growing into my routine be a bad thing? 15:50- Growth requires stress/struggle/pain 23:00- The people around you matter. Sometimes you know exactly what needs to be done but it takes a friendly nudge from someone who knows you well to get you moving.  28:45- What are the steps we can take? 35:50- Be proud of your journey regardless. You are awesome!

What is wrong with us? 14:40- The saddest 500m Row ever rowed. A :37 second difference in pace achieved in just :90. Does that mean I suck? 20:06- What are the consequences of negative self talk?  21:45- We prevent ourselves from fulfilling our potential. Ben talks about why this is so heartbreaking when he sees it in others and, of course, himself. Everyone deserves hope that things can change.  24:55- What can we do to get ahead of this type of self imposed negativity?
