Meet Bret and Kristen: Married Disney and theme park nerds who are here to share their combined experiences working and playing at some of the nation's best theme and amusement parks.
On this episode we discuss the removal of the Covid precautions at the Orlando theme parks. Disney, Universal, SeaWorld, and more are currently in the process of editing their restrictions or straight-up removing them. Social distancing, face coverings, and more are quickly becoming a thing of the past. We share our thoughts and feelings on the issues at hand including our first-hand experiences at Disney and Universal.
On this episode Bret & Kristen discuss full attraction experiences across the theme parks. This is the culmination of our three part series on attractions queues, exits, and now the full and complete experiences. We discuss Indiana Jones, more Men In Black, and throw a few surprise tests in there too.
On this episode Bret & Kristen discuss the lack of themed exit experiences across theme park attractions. With a lack of really amazing experiences, the ones that take the time to provide a proper 'story ending' experience really shine. From Galaxy's Edge to Men in Black, Space Mountain to Mission: SPACE, we hit the major players and figure out what makes a proper exit.
On this episode Bret & Kristen deep-dive into what makes a fun, interesting, and memorable queue line for an attraction. This episode is the first in a 3 part series on attraction queues, exits, and overall experiences. We discuss everything from Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, and even random amusement parks.
On this episode we discuss what coast has the better Haunted Mansion attraction. Disneyland may have the better facade and location and stretching rooms and Haunted Mansion Holiday, but Walt Disney World has a few extra show scenes. We discuss everything from the attraction development, changes through the years, and fun little urban legends we know about the rides.
On this episode we take a look at what changes the pandemic has had on the theme park industry. We discuss what changes we really enjoy (people not breathing down your neck while in a queue!), what ones we don't enjoy, and changes that we feel will stick around long after this is all over. Disney, Universal, SeaWorld, and more are on the table for this discussion.
On this episode we take a look at memorable attractions in terms of their personality. What attractions have a great personality? What attractions would you want to kick to the curb at a party? We discuss Soarin, Test Track, The Incredible Hulk, and much more! NOTE: We know audio got kinda screwy with this one, the incorrect microphone was being utilized. The next few episodes will have this quality. We felt the discussion was too good to discard and tried making it sound more bearable. Thanks for bearing with us til the bear end!
On this episode we discuss what coast has the better Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Kristen takes her home west coast, Bret takes east coast, and the battle rages on longer than being stuck in Bombardment Bay. NOTE: We know audio got kinda screwy with this one, the incorrect microphone was being utilized. The next few episodes will have this quality. We felt the discussion was too good to discard and tried making it sound more bearable. Thanks for bearing with us til the bear end!
In this episode we discuss the 20th anniversary of the Disney California Adventure Park! Kristen has firsthand experience visiting the elusive DCA 1.0 weirdness, and Bret doesn't have any experience at the park since before Cars Land opened. We deep-dive on what's changed, what's been kept the same, and some of our favorite pieces of this weird park. NOTE: We know audio got kinda screwy with this one, the incorrect microphone was being utilized. The next few episodes will have this quality. We felt the discussion was too good to discard and tried making it sound more bearable. Thanks for bearing with us til the bear end!
In this episode Kristen and Bret discuss exactly what makes an attraction or a show untouchable, or irreplaceable. What kind of rides wouldn't be build nowadays? What kind of rides need severe updating? With recent news about Jungle Cruise being changed we deep-dive into that topic as well.
On this episode we discuss exactly what makes a theme park entrance unique, memorable, and most importantly special. From Disney to Universal, regional parks to the big hitters, what works and what doesn't. We deep-dive on the important aspects of what we feel makes a perfect entrance to these themed environments.
On this episode we draw lines in the sand and discuss what's the better ride in a galaxy far, far away. Do you enjoy Millennium Falcon Smuggler's Run more, or Star Wars Rise of the Resistance? While both attractions are spectacular, we discuss their strengths and weaknesses with story, immersion, crowd flow, and ease of access.
A simple question: If you could travel to ANY point in Epcot's history, be it in the past or the future, where would you want to travel to and why? We discuss this high-res question at length with extremely varied responses in this latest episode. Let us know on social media your answer to this question, we'd love to hear everyone's take!
On this first episode Kristen and Bret discuss their upbringings and how visiting the Disney parks at an early age impacted their lives. Kristen comes from the far away land known as Disneyland, born and raised on the west coast with frequent visits to the happiest place on earth. Bret originates from the east coast, making yearly trips to Walt Disney World. Both vacations were wildly different and have molded how they visit the theme parks currently.
On this introduction episode we do just that: Introduce ourselves and begin to discuss our vast history with Orlando and the themed entertainment industry.
