News: This weekend at South by Southwest, Disney had a panel called “The Future of World-Building at Disney” which gave us a ton of information about upcoming theme park attractions. One of these was the updated experience coming next year to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run. The new adventure will feature the Mandalorian and Grogu, better known as “the child” from the hit Disney+ series. This new experience will take guests to new locations for the attraction, like Cloud City, Tatooine, and the Death Star wreckage. The update will coincide with the premiere of “The Mandalorian and Grogu” movie on May 22, 2026. – https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/sxsw-2025-new-missions-smugglers-run-mandalorian/ https://www.micechat.com/410722-disney-parks-announcements-from-swsx-avengers-star-wars-a-tomorrowland-tease/ Also at South by Southwest, Disney gave new details on the Avengers Campus updates at Disneyland. The large e-ticket Avengers Infinity Defense didn't get much new information, but the Stark Flight Lab did! Robert Downey Jr., who plays Tony Stark and Iron Man, was present to talk about the upcoming attraction. The attraction will have guests in “gyro-kinetic pods” that will roll on a track before being attached to a giant robotic arm and taken through some high-speed maneuvers. Tranferring the ride vehicle from the track to the robot arm and back again has never been done before. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/sxsw-2025-robert-downey-jr-tony-stark-avengers-campus/ https://www.micechat.com/410722-disney-parks-announcements-from-swsx-avengers-star-wars-a-tomorrowland-tease/ All of this can be seen in the latest episode of “We Call it Imagineering” on the Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube channel. In the latest episode, they talk about the updates we just mentioned, as well as talk with legendary Imagineer Bob Gurr. The episode covers all kinds of ride vehicles from past, present, and into the future. There is even a great behind the curtain look at the underbelly of the Omnimover system at the Haunted Mansion! If you want to take a look at this, check out the link in the show notes. – https://youtu.be/IuQPrGLo0QM?si=Dt9qzvh4bD5xCSUZ Also at the SXSW conference, it was announced that characters from the upcoming Fantastic Four movie will be coming to Tomorrowland. This includes H.E.R.B.I.E. – the flying robot from the upcoming movie. No firm date on when they will land in Tomorrowland, but it is likely around the premiere of the movie on July 25, 2025. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/03/08/disney-announces-new-additions-coming-soon-to-tomorrowland/ https://www.micechat.com/410722-disney-parks-announcements-from-swsx-avengers-star-wars-a-tomorrowland-tease/ The Disney Parks Blog posted a Guide to the 70th Anniversary at the Disneyland Resort, with some new details for the celebration. The celebration will run May 16th, 2025 through Summer of 2026. Updates to the previous information include a ew theme song called “Celebrate Happy.” The new “World of Color Happiness!” will explore “happy” through other emotions, hosted by Joy and other emotions from Inside Out and Inside Out 2. Boyz II Men will have a rendition of “Rainbow Connection” in the show, and FITZ from Fitz and the Tantrums will debut a song for World of Color called “Makes Me Wanna Move.” The Muppets will also appear before the show. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/guide-to-the-70th-anniversary-at-disneyland-resort/ With the return of Paint the Night for the Disneyland 70th, the Frozen float that was removed to fit under the Red Car Trolley wires in Disney California Adventure will return to the parade, along with Anna, and Elsa. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/guide-to-the-70th-anniversary-at-disneyland-resort/ Over at “it's a small world,” a new light, music, and projection show called “Tapestry of Happiness” will bring an animated mosaic of Disneyland attractions, memories, and moments in a style inspired by Disney Artist Mary Blair. It will feature the “Celebrate Happy” theme song, along with nods to other Disneyland tunes. In addition to Paint the Night, which will perform in the evening, “The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade” will appear along the parade route during the day. This new cavalcade will feature characters not often seen at Disneyland like Duffy and ShellieMay. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/guide-to-the-70th-anniversary-at-disneyland-resort/ Along with the projection show on “it's a small world,” the attraction will get some new characters! Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. A few additional things came out of the Star Wars Celebration that give us the feels. A Gaya album will be dropping on May 4th. On the not-so-great news front, The Bad Batch will get a third and final season next year. We did Animal Kingdom and had so much fun, we decided to play Keep, Update, Replace: Hollywood Studios. We assess some of the most popular and, let's face it, unpopular rides in the park. And we even got your opinion on the matter using a poll on our Instagram @enchantedearspodcast. What should be done with Muppet Vision 3D, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Slinky Dog Dash, Rise of the Resistance, Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster, Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, Millennium Falcon Smuggler's Run, and the Frozen Sing Along Celebration? We think some pretty big changes need to occur to revive the tributes to movie magic while also teaching the next generation what amazing possibilities exist with a little spark…of inspiration. Some other big changes, in the form of locking restraints, might be needed if Frozen gets Angela's suggested update to keep Joe from charging the stage to meet a Disney (and cultural) icon. As always, thank you so much for listening! Have a magical week! Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. While both attractions are spectacular, we discuss their strengths and weaknesses with story, immersion, crowd flow, and ease of access.

Crowds started lining up early in the morning to be let into the park at 6am, hours before the official opening at 8am. Once 8am rolled around, guests could use the Disneyland app to join a boarding group. In just a couple of minutes, all the main boarding groups had been claimed, with the backup groups being filled just minutes after that. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/01/star-wars-rise-of-the-resistance-now-open-at-disneyland-park/ and https://www.micechat.com/248074-rise-of-the-resistance-now-open-is-the-force-strong-with-this-one/Of course with the opening of a new attraction, there is going to be a load of new merchandise, and Rise of the Resistance is no exception. From more traditional offerings like t-shirts and hats, to more unique like an attraction ride vehicle, there is something for everyone. The designs on the clothing are all pretty similar to the annual passholder exclusive design we talked about previously. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/16/disneyland-folks-check-out-the-rise-of-the-resistance-gear-heading-your-way/#more-306091 and https://www.micechat.com/248099-rise-of-the-resistance-inspired-food-and-merchandise-lands-in-galaxys-edge/Star Wars and spirit jerseys have collided at Disneyland. A new ice planet Hoth design has appeared in Star Traders in Tomorrowland, and at World of Disney in Downtown Disney. The jersey features HOTH on the back, with imperial walkers on the surface towards the bottom. The front has the Star Wars logo on the chest and the same walker design on the bottom. As with all spirit jerseys, this one is pricey at $69.99. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/17/new-star-wars-hoth-spirit-jersey-has-landed-in-disneyland/#more-307139The Millennium Falcon popcorn bucket was a great souvenir for the Resistance, but what about the First Order? Kylo Ren’s Tie Interceptor beverage holder is now available. For $18.49, you can get the beverage holder with your choice of drink, or for $1 more, you can get it with fries! The Tie Interceptor can be purchased at the Galactic Grill in Tomorrowland. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/17/join-the-dark-side-we-have-drinks-and-fries-with-kylo-rens-new-tie-interceptor-mug-in-disneyland/#more-306700The new E-Ticket attraction isn’t the only thing to come to Batuu this week. There are three pins available at Little Green Men Store Command in Tomorrowland or Westward Ho Trading Company in Frontierland. To unlock the ability to purchase these limited edition pins, the Play Disney parks app must be loaded and Bluetooth and location services must be allowed for the app. Opening the app in Batuu will give you the “Black Spire Explorer” achievement, riding Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run will unlock the “Flight of the Falcon” achievement, and riding Rise of the Resistance will unlock the “Hero of the Resistance” achievement. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/01/show-off-your-star-wars-datapad-achievements-from-the-play-disney-parks-app-with-new-themed-commemorative-pins/If you have the lucky (or unlucky, depending on your nerdiness) experience of being involved with an unexpected show exit for Rise of the Resistance, don’t fear! Disney has a procedure for this. If you are unable to complete your mission for the Resistance, you will be allowed to re-enter the attraction when it is operational again, and you will be provided with a multi-experience fastpass that will give you a free FastPass for any attraction in the park. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/17/yikes-disneylands-rise-of-the-resistance-is-breaking-down-what-happens-when-the-resistances-mission-cant-be-completed/#more-306639Lunar New Year kicked off at Disney California Adventure on Friday. Mandarin Oranges are considered symbols of good fortune and prosperity for the Chinese New Year. The cotton candy doesn’t taste too sweet, and has been described as tasting like baby aspirin. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/19/review-orange-you-glad-we-found-the-mandarin-cotton-candy-at-disneylands-lunar-new-year/#more-307423Mobile ordering is available for the Lunar New Year food and beverage booths. Skip the wasted time waiting in line and order on the Disneyland app to get food hot and fresh without the wait. Another often overlooked trick is to order food for multiple booths at a single booth. This is great for guests without mobile ordering. Basically, just pick the shortest line, order all the festival food you want, then head to the booths to pick it up! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/17/get-even-more-out-of-disney-california-adventures-lunar-new-year-celebration-with-mobile-order/#more-306924The Sip & Savor pass is back for the Lunar New Year. The pass is $42, or $39 with an annual pass discount and includes 6 tabs to be used on Lunar New Year food and beverage stands. The passes can be purchased at any of the booths, as well as Seaside Souvenirs, Kingswell, Elias & Co. – https://www.micechat.com/248081-disneyland-update-a-lucky-lunar-new-year/A sweet new deal has been cooked up at the Plaza Inn. For just $5.99, guests can pick up a Red Velvet Minnie Mouse Bundt Cake! The cake is traditional red velvet, filled with raspberry filling, topped with a vanilla glaze, red and black sprinkles, pink frosting, chocolate mouse ears, and Minnie’s signature bow. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/15/no-bundts-about-it-this-new-polka-dotted-cake-in-disneyland-is-absolutely-adorable/#more-305616Guests picking up a hotdog, or some popcorn may notice something old is new again. The popcorn bucket design from when Disneyland opened is returning to the popcorn locations around the park. In addition, a new design has come to the wrappers that are most commonly found wrapped around hot dogs. The hot dog wrapper is reminiscent of the “it’s a small world” theme, and is very colorful. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/19/news-the-hot-dog-wrappers-in-disneyland-have-an-ah-mazing-new-look/#more-307590Tortilla Jo’s in Downtown Disney has updated their snack and brunch menus with new items! Loungefly has released a designer Pixar headband in the “World of Pixar” collection. The band features the Pixar Luxo Ball design on the ears, with a leather like band, the Loungefly logo on one side, and an embroidered Luxy Junior on the other. This set of ears may be designer, but are priced just above the standard ears at $29.99. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/01/20/the-cutest-new-pixar-ears-have-rolled-into-disneyland/#more-307663

The uber-talented Sonja Christoph’s career path has been a twisty one. After graduating from film school in Miami, she worked as an assistant director on-set on Hollywood movies and TV shows. During the 2008 writer’s strike, she was inspired to take a VFX course at Gnomon School in Hollywood, where she discovered a knack for matte paintings. She went on to create environments at ILM for Tomorrowland, Doctor Strange, Agent Carter and even the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run ride at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland. Now, Sonja has crossed the Atlantic to work for Swedish Ubisoft subsidiary Massive Entertainment on video games including Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. In this podcast, recorded at Total Chaos 2019 ahead of her inspiring main-stage presentation, Sonja talks about the differences between working in VFX and video games in terms of timelines, teamwork and tools. She also discusses how games subtly direct the player, and why they’ve become such a lucrative part of modern culture. If you’ve ever thought about making the jump from movies to games — or vice-versa — this podcast is for you.
