This episode of Down to the Beat is kicked off with a conversation about Racco and Fixxx's most recent experience on edibles, they are vastly different. We then move into a conversation and review of a collaborative album called 'Two Heavy', released by Motswana artists BiscuitHead and Oddly Risque. Before we get into the review we do touch on some very sad yet monumental news, this is Fixxx's second last ever episode of Down to the Beat before he returns home to the mother land for a couple of months. During this time we will be filling his role with another great host, so do not fear. We finally cap the episode off with some talks about Mac Miller's former drug dealer going to jail with two other people for their involvement in his death and LL Cool J and Jay Z being inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.
This week's episode of Down to the Beat is kicked off with our segment "Homegrown Hits" where Fixxx talks about his boy Maléven's newest EP, "The New Gabz City 1". We then move into or segment "Let's Talk" where we chop it up about passing on the metaphorical torch, the wear and tear the music business has on artists and finally about our thoughts on this year's Grammy nominations.
This week's episode of Down to the Beat is kicked off with a reflection on injustices going on in Nigeria and Nova Scotia. The episode then moves on to talk about the recent music festival in Ottawa, Cranium Festival. After that a conversation about Kanye's presidential campaign has Fixxx left with needing a break from him. "Let's Talk" is finished off with a debate on Microsoft vs. Apple and the episode is capped off with a "Hot Take" on the death of radio.
This week we're separated by about 1500km and still pumping out a good podcast for all you, starting with Fixxx taking over 'Behind the Beat' to show love to all the producers out there. But first John and Fixxx rip through a 'Behind the Beat' segment featuring some big time names like the legendary Dr. Dre, before getting into 'Let's Talk'. Gabe Bower sits in for this segment to talk about the music industry from several angles such as where its been, where it's heading, the mixing of genres, the dark side of over-saturation along with its benefits and more. Gabe is a creator, tour manager and booking agent for the band 'Skeleton Club', originally from the Maritimes but now residing in Montreal. After our chat with Gabe we move into some Hot Takes to send you into the weekend.
This week DTTB brings you Hot Takes like we are never going to hear Eternal Atake, followed with our segment 'Let's Talk' where we discuss Travis Scott selling cereal and people are buying it. Lastly we do our 'Blast From the Past' where John and Fixxx talk some old school albums and tracks we need to revisit.
