Most people become indecisive when choosing a career in music. After all, the music industry offers a diversity of careers. You can choose between becoming a producer, composer, singer, or instrumentalist. In addition, there are different genres of music and different types of instruments (and these instruments are also classified into different subtypes). These vast options make it hard for musicians to decide on what path to choose. Fortunately, some successful musicians are willing to share their journey and experiences with others, and you will be hearing one of these stories in this podcast. In this episode of the Steve Stine Guitar Podcast, Gabriel Cyr, a professional guitar player, composer, producer, and youtube sensation(with more than 110K subscribers!), will be joining us to share his journey in the music industry. He will be talking about how he started his journey, the transitions he made, as well as his influences in music. He will also be discussing some of the difficulties he encountered. Gabriel will also share some tips for beginners in the music industry. Tune in and listen to the musician's journey in this podcast now!Highlights[02:03] How Gabriel's enthusiasm for Music started[02:41] What it looks like becoming a guitar influencer[03:04] Gabriel's Practice Routine when playing the guitar[05:00] How Gabriel’s Guitar Career Started[06:54] Gabriel's career with his band[10:08] Gabriel's other source of revenue[12:25] Tendonitis: Symptoms, Origin, and Cure [19:21] How to handle students who are struggling with frustration or depression[20:11] Gabriel's journey on YouTube[25:57] Tips for beginners in the music industry Bio: Born and raised in Quebec, Canada, Gabriel is a versatile guitar player who enjoys playing jazz, metal, and everything in between. As a teenager, he explored a few different instruments like the drums, flute, and some basic piano, but the guitar always was his favorite. Gabriel graduated from Laval University in 2017, receiving a bachelor’s degree in jazz guitar. In 2018, Gabriel won Guitarist of the Year in the contest organized by MusicRadar, Guitarist Magazine, and Total Guitar Magazine. In 2020, he released his first EP, Spectrum Exploration I, which is an instrumental rock record with jazz fusion and prog influences. Later that year, he released his second EP Spectrum Exploration II which incorporates metal influences.Working as a professional guitar player, Gabriel plays live shows with a few different bands and as a freelancer in Quebec.
