Divorce is one of the most taxing emotional experiences a person can face, but it is also one of the most significant "business transactions" of your life. In this episode of Married with a Business, we sit down with Kristina St. Cyr, a Certified Divorce Coach, to discuss how to navigate this transition with clarity, strategy, and self-care. Kristina breaks down why treating a divorce like a business move—without ignoring the heart—is the key to coming out on the other side whole. Whether you are a business owner navigating a split or a homeowner trying to figure out how to manage your assets during a transition, Kristina's insights on "The Business of Divorce" provide a roadmap through the fog. In this episode, we discuss: The Power of Mentorship: Why having a coach is essential when friends and family (who may have gone through it) can't provide the objective guidance you need. Divorce as a Business: Kristina explains how to get your "corporate" house in order by mastering your budget, knowing your assets, and identifying exactly what you need to move forward. Managing the Emotional Ledger: How to acknowledge the heavy emotions of divorce while preventing them from making your financial and legal decisions for you. Building Your Professional Team: The importance of surrounding yourself with experts, including Kristina's collaboration with professionals like Victoria Robillard at Edward Jones. The Best Version of You: Why taking time for yourself isn't selfish—it's a necessary skill for navigating high-stress relationships and the divorce process itself. Noelle Cook's The Conspiracists: Women, Extremism, and the Lure of Belonging is the first ethnography of conspirituality, and it comes via someone who was able to really embed themselves in a volatile culture and find its emotional logic. She's our guest today. Cook focuses on the travails of two middle-aged women following the January 6 Capitol riot. By spending years befriending and talking with Tammy Butry and Yvonne St. Cyr, Cook is able to document the impacts of childhood trauma and systemic neglect—as well as diverse personality quirks—that can drive folks toward QAnon.  They are starseeds. They are mama bears. They are on a divine mission to destroy the matrix and usher in the Great Awakening. For them, the algorithms were oracles, reinforcing isolation and radicalization by providing a sense of purpose to the purposeless, and visibility to the invisible. Cook has not written a book for answers, but a book filled with the next questions worth grappling with as we realize how deeply wounded some recruits to fascism are. The new book The Conspiracists: Women, Extremism, and the Lure of Belonging by Noelle Cook offers an unusually intimate look at why seemingly bizarre conspiracy worlds that involve starseeds, ascended masters, and shadowy cabals are powerfully compelling even when they damage the lives of believers. Rather than taking a detached academic approach, Cook traces how white, middle-aged women were pulled deeper into conspiratorial belief systems in the years leading up to and after January 6, through online communities, the pandemic, personal upheaval, and a New Age spiritual subculture fused with far-right politics. The book follows Cook's long, complicated relationship with two women in particular: Yvonne St. Cyr and Tammy Butry. Yvonne, from Idaho, sought structure in the Marines after a turbulent childhood, then found a home in the world of conspirituality, where politics becomes divine destiny and January 6 becomes a “spiritual war.” Tammy, from Pennsylvania, carries a history of trauma and instability, including seeing how the real-world betrayal of the “Kids for Cash” scandal harmed her children, making QAnon's “save the children” framing feel emotionally plausible. Together, their stories show how conspiracism can function as belonging, meaning, and an explanation big enough to encompass their pain. Travis and Jake talk to Noelle about how her book came together, her relationship with the two subjects, and why conspiracist movements like QAnon can appeal to women over fifty years old. Rick Geoffrion, Founder and CEO of Cyrano Therapeutics, is developing a drug to restore olfactory function due to post-viral loss of smell and taste. As a result of COVID-19, there has been a significant increase in the number of people affected by long-term smell and taste loss, with no effective pharmaceutical options previously available. Smell loss can also be an early indicator of neurodegenerative conditions, suggesting future applications of the intranasal spray that aims to directly restore function to the olfactory receptor neurons. Rick explains, "Taste and smell have a really strong connection, actually. First of all, they're two out of the five basic senses that we have as human beings. When you lose your sense of smell, people actually perceive that they've lost about 80% of their sense of taste. Now, technically, you're not losing your sense of taste. We actually just give our tongue too much credit. Our tongue is able to detect sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami. That's all it detects, and it detects them really in light monotone that are about 80% less intense if you've lost your sense of smell. In addition, if you no longer have your sense of smell, what you've really lost is the ability to detect flavor in food. So, to tell the difference between a peach, a pear, and a strawberry, maybe you'll tell that visually, but to tell it from a flavor perspective, you completely lose that ability.    "There really are no significant therapies to treat the condition right now. Essentially, if you've lost your sense of smell, a physician may recommend that you use smell training, which is essentially the regular smelling of intense essential oils, and they really haven't been shown to significantly treat or cure a chronic smell loss condition. It is thought that if your body is spontaneously recovering, say within those first few months, if you do undergo smell training, you may accelerate that recovery. But other than that, there's certainly no gold standard treatment or no significant treatments available right now, and no pharmaceuticals in the pipeline other than CYR-064, which is being developed by Cyrano." #CyranoTherapeutics #Olfactory #LongCOVID #PostViralLoss #IntranasalSpray #SmellandTaste #LongTermSmellLoss cyranotherapeutics.com Download the transcript here

The “Touchdown Jaguars Podcast!” kicks off the preseason with a comprehensive look at training camp developments and what to expect when the Jaguars face the Pittsburgh Steelers in their first preseason game at EverBank Stadium.Host James Johnson dives into the unofficial depth chart released by the team, highlighting several key position battles worth monitoring. The potential offensive line competition between veteran Ezra Cleveland and rookie Wyatt Milum at left guard promises to be one of the more intriguing storylines, with Milum set to likely get significant snaps against Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, the running backs room features a fascinating competition with Tank Bigsby appearing to lead Travis Etienne for first-team reps, though both are expected to play significant roles in Liam Coen's offense. Seventh-round pick LeQuint Allen has impressed in pass protection, potentially earning him third-down opportunities ahead of fellow rookie Bhayshul Tuten, who is battling an injury. The podcast features an exclusive interview with Jamal St. Cyr from News4Jax, who has attended all nine training camp sessions. St. Cyr provides invaluable insights on Trevor Lawrence's progression (including acing a 100-question offensive test), Travis Hunter's remarkable two-way ability, and the defensive tackle position emerging as the team's biggest concern with injuries to Arik Armstead and Maason Smith. He boldly predicts Hunter could potentially win both Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year honors based on his camp performance, noting veterans have been impressed by Hunter's mastery of both playbooks without the mental mistakes typically expected from rookies. From Josh Allen and Travon Walker's dominance on the edge to under-the-radar players making pushes for roster spots, this episode provides everything Jaguars fans need to know as preseason football arrives. "Touchdown Jaguars!" is a tribute to the prospective ownership group "Touchdown Jacksonville!" In 1991, the NFL announced plans to add two expansion teams and "Touchdown Jacksonville!" announced its bid for a team, and Jacksonville was ultimately chosen as one of five finalists. In November 1993, the NFL owners voted 26–2 in favor of awarding the 30th franchise to Jacksonville. James and Phil have been fans of the franchise ever since and have had the honor (and sometimes dishonor) of covering the team professionally since 2017. The rest as they say, is history.
