In another lost season, Commanders Head Coach Ron Rivera announced that defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio and defensive backs coach Jack Del Rio have been fired after the Commanders were embarrassed in a nationally televised Thanksgiving Day game to the rival Dallas Cowboys. This is it! The episode of Bloodfest that got us kicked off of Tiktok (the clock app, as the kids call it)! That's right, we're too hot for tiktok. This is the episode where we learn what murderous, wisecracking turkeys have to do with G.W.F. Hegel and Karl Marx! It's Thanksgiving! So of course we talk about Thankskilling! #Bloodfestthepodcast #bloodfest #thankskilling #thanksgiving #horror #podcast #movies #horrormovies #marx #hegel #funny #dumb Likes, subs, shares appreciated!     Thankskilling Notes:   Hegel: all historical invents and personages appear twice.   To which Marx added, in the Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte, the first time as tragedy, the second as farce.   In Das Capital, Marx spoke of “character masks”. People wear a “mask” or persona that is required by their place in society – Marx is speaking specifically to the functions of capitalism, but this thinking applies to all societal functions and spaces. In Thankskilling, every character is a clichéd and worn out trope. We have the JOCK, the PARTY GUY, the SLUT, the GOOD GIRL, the NERD. These caricatures exist is shallow films because they exist in the real world, even if they are less binding there. We can see the college kids in TK as strongly correlated to the high school students in The Breakfast Club. It is note able that a large number of teenagers have seen themselves represented in John Hughes's treacly output, suggesting that we, at least, believe ourselves to be some form of those tropes.    It seems too obvious that no person is simply and completely the JOCK or the SLUT or any other of these categories. People, even very young people, are much too complicated to fit cleanly on a chart – we exist in liminal spaces, in between groups. And yet, we play those roles or a reaction to those roles. Think here of the STONER or the PUNK demanding that they are unique, and not one of the tropes. Is not the STONER merely another mask that he must wear to fit his place in society?   TURKEY – not a turkey. The turkey is a mask worn by a spirit summoned by indigenous people to exact vengeance on colonizers. Point is driven more firmly (and more dumbly) home when the mask that is the turkey dons a mask made of the skin from the sheriff's face.     It seems funny to us that nobody notices that this a a turkey wearing a human face as a mask. But, I posit that no one can see that  because it is no different than the masks that they are wearing.     The film's ending hints that it doesn't have to be like this. Nietzsche, in The Gay Science, notes that in America one can play any role – in fact, can forget that they are even playing a role. They can choose their own mask.  We understand this when we see that the turkey is not truly dead, but is instead wearing a new mask. Instead of the crude hand puppet we have seen, he is now embodied in a real (if dead, gutted and cooked) turkey, yet still able to fulfil his role as avenger.

This week the guys kick off episode 190 with biggest surprise from week 10, between the Bengals and the Bills who's most likely to miss out on making the playoffs, Staley recaps ANOTHER ugly w for his Steelers, is this style of play sustainable or are they playing with fire, Stoner breaks down his Lions epic win against the Chargers with Riley Patterson kicking a last second FG to seal it, but is he concerned at all with the Defense after giving up 90 points over the last three weeks, and then wrap the show with week 10 of the Staley and Stoner Six. 

Our guests today are Jason Stoner and Stephen Rogers, who are well-known locally for their exceptional foodie and presentation skills! Jason and Stephen devise the menu, theme, and special tablescape (a blend of table and landscaping) in the weeks preceding each event; Jason captures the process with meticulous photography to heighten the sense of appreciation for each meal prepared with love. Jason is the chef and creator of the menu; Stephen is the master of planning the ambiance and theme of the evening and takes great care to select the perfect silverware, napkins, plates, drinkware, etc. The couple have hosted a Sunday Dinner at 6 p.m. once each month for the past few years that began in 2017 when they hosted a special birthday supper for their family. It was such a hit their children insisted on making the dinner a weekly celebration. Over time, the event morphed into a monthly affair that is closely followed by foodies. The waiting list of people hoping to attend speaks for itself. Thousands of people watch on social media to see what unique creation and decor these two will come up with! Only a few guests are selected each month so nabbing an invitation is a fete, to say the least! Jason and Stephen have never repeated a menu or theme. As an example, November 2023's Sunday Dinner centered on a TexMex menu, featuring beef enchiladas on homemade tortillas and sour cream sauce, with assorted sides, all freshly prepared. The evening's theme was Dia de los Muerxos, which originated in Mexico and is a days-long celebration in honor of family members who have passed away. The playlist was Tejano Classics on Spotify. The event was hosted in honor of Emmalyn Grace Quebedeaux, a young child who was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma cancer. The lucky Sunday Dinner guests won the privilege of attending via a raffle in support of Moving Mountains for Emmy, a go fund me fundraiser in support of the little one's medical treatments. Her inspiration was still present whenJason and Stephen's house sat under two feet of water after the 2016 flood; they realized that in rebuilding and reconstructing their home life, they wanted to use all of the beautiful things they had been keeping in the cabinets. They now utilize beautiful family china and glassware that they inherited from loved ones such as Stephen's grandmother. And as Jason says, "We eat with our eyes first, so we always try to plate the meal over the top." Jason always tries to source food items locally whenever possible, and he mentioned his love of City Girl's Farm's edible flowers, microgreens, and herbs, as well as Coastal Plains Meat Company for their outstanding selections. Jason Stoner and Stephen Rogers have a choreographed effort they employ when hosting their monthly Sunday Dinner. Stephen meets the guests, gets them a cocktail and whisks them out of the kitchen so that Jason can complete the last minute cooking. They discuss ahead of time the flow they need for the evening to be a success. The team love what they do and hope to bring the Sunday Dinner to a new level with an anticipated YouTube show that documents the monthly event from start to finish. Jason Stoner is well-known locally as being one of the principals behind Foodies of Lafayette alongside Heidi McDonald. Foodies of Lafayette spotlights area restaurants and culinary experiences in a positive way and will not allow negative feedback to destroy their aim of promoting local treasures. The site currently has over 60,400 active followers on Facebook and is growing exponentially each month.

At 93 years of age, Dick Stoner was a pioneer in performing magic at trade shows and a magic shop owner since the 1940's. It is because of people like Dick that other magicians have been successful trade show performers. Certainly many of us are figuratively standing on his shoulders. But not only that, Dick has owned and operated Stoners Funstore in Fort Wayne, Indiana, since 1949. There are few brick and mortar shops that have been around that long. Min Jin Lee could be considered an exemplar of the old adage “slow and steady wins the race.” The author's bestselling 2017 novel Pachinko—a National Book Award finalist and New York Times bestseller that was adapted into a television series for Apple TV+ in 2022—took 30 years to write from its inception as a short story. Her debut novel, Free Food for Millionaires (2007), took five years. United stoners of the world. This was my motto from my first company called Cannabis in Amsterdam a simple statement but true to this day. Before getting to Matt Simms, Nathan & Stoner give updates on injuries for both the Washington Commanders and New York Giants heading into Sunday's game at Met Life stadium in New Jersey. They also talk about Stoner's Power Rankings and how he moved the Philadelphia Eagles all the way to #8 on his list.  Is this justified? The New York Giants can't stop the run.  They average giving up 147.5 yards per game on the ground.  While the narrative is out there that Washington's O-line can't run block, they actually average 4.3 yards per carry which is 11th in the league.  The problem is they don't run enough.  They average about 21 carries per game which is 30th in the league.  They need to run more. On the other side of the ball, the Giants O-line is decimated by injuries.  They are starting guys from the practice squads of other teams and guys who literally were on their couch last week.  So the front 4 or 5 of Washington needs to dominate and stop Saquon Barkley.  Tyrod Taylor is not going to beat you. We look at who missed practice today and Kendall Fuller did not practice for the 2nd day in a row.  That's a concern.  We also addressed the trade rumor of Chase Young.  The trade deadline is just a couple weeks away. Lastly, Stoner has a film session to look at how well Khaleke Hudson played against Atlanta and is pushing for more playing time.
