or over two decades Mike Hill has been a road warrior traversing the challenging terrain of extreme music, renegade journalism and end times documentarianism. Hill is known for fronting the metal band Tombs, who have released records on Metal Blade and Relapse Records, with 2011's Path of Totality getting the tap for Decibel Magazine's Record of the Year. The band has toured extensively and have performed at notable festivals such as Roadburn, Maryland Death Fest, Roskilde Festival, Ieper Fest and most recently Ozzfest Meets Knotfest. His written work has been published in Noisey, Revolver, Bandcamp Daily and Decibel. Hill is also a DJ at Gimme Radio, a streaming metal channel curated by notable artists in the genre, including Megadeth's Dave Mustaine, Lamb of God's Randy Blythe and Dillinger Escape Plan's Ben Weinman. The Everything Went Black Podcast is a reflection of Mike Hill’s own psyche addressing the creative, intellectual and physical aspects of the human experience. For those out there that choose to live apart from flock, who embrace individuality, Everything Went Black should be a regular part of your world. The complexity of modern man is oft time under-served and under-estimated. As Miyamoto Musashi wrote “to know the way broadly, is to see it in all things”. Why not embrace all aspects of life and celebrate the Savage Life of a self-realized individual?

"We're very excited man", enthused Max Cavallera on Soulfly's upcoming album, Ritual, set to be unleashed on October 19. "It's our 11th album and it's got some really cool things on it. It's a little bit of a return to the tribal grooves with some recording with the Navajo Indians and a lot of fast and aggressive stuff also. It's a jam packed record full of excitement and I'm very happy. So far we've got three songs out there, "Evil Empowered", "Ritual" and "Dead Behind the Eyes" but I can't wait for people to hear the whole thing."In the full interview Max discussed the album in-depth, running through a selection of songs from the album including his collaboration with Lamb of God's Randy Blythe, the title and it's significance, the return of more tribal elements, the importance of having his son Zyon play on drums, where he gets his anger and aggression still, an Australian tour and more.

What do you do when two great bands have albums out on the same day? You get them both on the podcast for a double co-host special edition and that's what the plan is this week with Nikki Brumen of Pagan and Dez Fafara of DevilDriver. Firstly, the heavy/black metal Pagan from Melbourne are about to release their debut album Black Wash and so far we've heard nothing but great things from the band of misfits. In the time we were first introduced to them at Big Sound 2017, they've blown up across the country playing shows all over the joint and even securing an East Coast support slot on Rise Against's Wolves Tour. Being a women in the heavy music industry can be hard, but Nikki's "no holds barred" and "no-fucks-given" attitude towards topics such as gender imbalance and bigotry will certainly result in her leaving her mark and becoming a voice/force to be reckoned with. If you haven't listened to Pagan before today, guarantee you'll follow them up following this podcast. Dez Fafara on the other hand needs no introducion, but for the uninitated, he's been a key member of the heavy music industry fronting the bands Coal Chamber (RIP) and DevilDriver who are releasing their new album Outlaws 'til The End: Vol. 1 on Friday July 6th. The approach with this new album at first raised a few eyebrows, because the band have tackled country songs like 'Copperhead Road', 'Ghost Riders in the Sky' and Willie Nelson's 'Whiskey River' but with a heavy metal twist. All the songs have been given a heavier, faster and better makeover and even feature some special guests including Johnny Cash's son John Carter Cash, his wife Ana Christina, Lamb of God's Randy Blythe and Mark Morton, Burton C. Bell, Brock Lindow and many more. The heavy metaller turned country man more than happily explains his reasons for taking on this interesting approach and the stories behind the recording process, including Johnny Cash's love for heavy metal. There's also new music from A Breach of Silence, Temtris, Daybreak and Hellions, throwbacks from Sensaii, Heaven The Axe, Anthrax and Killswitch Engage + heaps more... #WoSUATW #Pagan #NikkiBrumen #BlackMetal #HeavyMetal #DezFafara #DevilDriver #BlackWash #OutlawsTilTheEnd #OutlawsTilTheEndVol1 #LambOfGod #JohnnyCash #ABreachOfSilence #Daybreak #AustralianBands #Hardcore #Sensaii #Temtris #HeavenTheAxe #Anthrax #ScottIsn #KillswitchEngage #KSE #Hellions #Podcast #MusicPodcast #WallOfsoundAU
