The Bald and the Beautiful with Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamo
If you thought oatmeal recipes couldn't be sensual, you'd be dead wrong. Dim the lights, burn that bergamot arousal candle from your cousin's bachelorette party, and bring 1 cup of steel-cut oats to a slow, smoldering simmer in 4 cups of creamy, luscious whole milk. Add just a pinch of sea salt, and let the ingredients relax into a luscious, velvet-thick porridge so opulent it's no wonder this recipe won the World Porridge Making Championship. Once you achieve the ideal level of viscosity, stir in 2 tablespoons of sweet brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of hot melted butter, a dash of vanilla, and a deliciously decadent pour of heavy cream. Finish with toasted walnuts, a molten ribbon of sticky honey, and bejeweled raspberries whose tart sparkle will slice through all that thick seduction like Trixie and Katya waxing poetic about proper air conditioning. Serve it molten, fragrant, and make sure to eat it slowly, because this is not some bleak porridge from Oliver Twist, Deborah; it's a flirtatious, butter-kissed, spoon-clutching bowl of hot breakfast filth. Clock in, because this week's episode is all about coworker drama. The girls jump right into your submissions, with nurses getting on each other's nerves, one man getting caught (again!?) drinking breast milk, and some tyrannical teacher's assistant deciding they're suddenly in charge of the entire classroom. We all know going into work can be rough, but after hearing these stories, you might just start thanking your lucky stars for your own job situation.!!! In this episode of The Sacred Speaks, host Dr. John W Price sits down with mythologist and storyteller Dr. John Bucher, Executive Director of the Joseph Campbell Foundation, to explore how story functions as a living force that shapes our lives, culture, and sense of meaning. They trace John's early "graduate degree in storytelling" in a small Texas video store, move through themes like the quest to come home, reconciliation with the father, and the "magical orphan," and show how our favorite films reveal the deep mythic patterns we're unconsciously living. The conversation dives into archetypes, subtext, AI as a new cultural story, the loss of shared myths in a hyper-individualized media landscape, and the possibility of a "collective heroic journey" where groups answer a shared call of desperation rather than a single hero saving the day. John also offers very practical tools for "telling a better story" in our own lives, from changing our information diet to small daily rituals that reorient us toward hope, connection, and agency. Key Takeaways: John Bucher: Telling A Better Story Stories and myths are the "operating system" of the human mind, shaping how we make sense of everything from traffic to transcendence. What truly draws us into stories is not plot but theme, like coming home or reconciling with the father. Our favorite movies quietly reveal our core genres, themes, and unresolved psychological material. We are losing shared cultural stories, which contributes to loneliness and fragmentation. Finding a "better story" starts locally: in our media diet, daily practices, and small collective actions. Joy isn't something you chase. It's something you notice, when you finally stop, put down your phone, and look around. In this episode, Peter Fenger sits down with Hiroko Yoda, a Tokyo-born cultural historian, writer, and journalist who has spent decades making Japanese spirituality, folklore, and tradition feel alive and accessible for Western audiences. A certified Shinto cultural historian and former Miko shrine dancer, Hiroko has authored and co-authored numerous books exploring Japan's rich spiritual heritage, and co-founded AltJapan Co., Ltd., a creative bridge helping Japanese storytellers in video games, anime, manga, and film share their work with the world. Her latest book, “Eight Million Ways to Happiness: Wisdom for Inspiration and Healing from the Heart of Japan”, is at once a memoir, a travel log, and a cultural deep dive. Drawing on the Shinto concept of kami, the countless unseen presences said to inhabit everything from mountains and oceans to the words we speak, Hiroko invites readers to loosen their grip on rigid ideas of belief and discover spirituality as something far more flexible, practical, and personal. Part grief journey, part cultural history, the book shows how small rituals, reverence for nature, and a spirit of play can make us feel less alone, even in the hardest seasons of life. Today, we explore what it means to live as though everything has a spirit, and why that simple shift in perspective might be one of the most powerful tools we have. In this episode of MiCannaCast, we sit down with Jake Greba— founder of Midnight Roots, longtime legacy cultivator, edible pioneer, and music producer Bass Owl — for a deep, wide-ranging conversation about cannabis culture, genetics, medicine, creativity, and the journey from underground roots to the modern legal market.Jake shares powerful personal stories about growing up in a cannabis family, using the plant to help loved ones through serious medical conditions, navigating the pre-legal era, and building a respected brand rooted in authenticity rather than hype.We also dive into strain selection philosophy, terpene appreciation, why THC percentage doesn't equal quality, the dilution of genetics in today's market, and how cannabis connects to memory, ritual, and community.Beyond cannabis, the conversation explores Jake's parallel life in music — touring, producing bass music, and the creative mindset that links art and cultivation. If you care about legacy cannabis culture, real genetics, meaningful consumption, or the intersection of creativity and plant medicine, this episode delivers one of the deepest conversations we've had on the show.

What happens when ancient demonology, modern paranormal research, and biblical theology collide? In Necronetics Part 2, the Nephilim Death Squad welcomes back Nathaniel Gillis, researcher and author known for his deep work on demonology, supernatural phenomena, and the intersection of theology with the paranormal. This conversation continues the exploration of necronetics—the study of how ancient spiritual entities, death rituals, and occult traditions intersect with modern paranormal encounters.Raven, TopLobsta, and Nathaniel dive into the darker side of spiritual phenomena, discussing historical demonology, spiritual warfare, paranormal manifestations, and the ways ancient beliefs continue to shape modern supernatural encounters. The discussion moves between theology, anthropology, and paranormal research while examining how biblical frameworks interact with contemporary reports of the supernatural.Blending serious research with Nephilim Death Squad's signature humor and curiosity, this episode explores questions many researchers and theologians are asking today: are ancient spiritual entities still influencing the modern world?
On June 20, 2001, 36-year-old Andrea Yates did the unthinkable when she drowned her five children in the bathtub of her family home. For decades, that was all anyone knew. We called her crazy, evil, unforgivable. We couldn't imagine how it could have happened. But the backstory is horrifying and centers around the "teachings" of a radical street preacher, who psychologically tortured and tormented his followers into believing they and their children were unsavable and doomed to spend eternity in hell. Parents had until "the age of accountability" - only twelve years old - to save their kids from eternal torment and damnation. We hate this guy, fam. And as you come to understand the power he had over Andrea, you start to understand the why behind her actions.FAM! In this episode of What's My Thesis?, host Javier Proenza speaks with Los Angeles–based Chicano artist Raul Baltazar about the cultural and historical foundations of his practice. The conversation explores Mexican and Mexican American identity through migration, colonial history, and cultural syncretism, including reflections on La Malinche, the blending of Indigenous and Catholic cosmologies, and the preservation of ceremonial knowledge. Baltazar also addresses the generational lineage of Chicano artists in Los Angeles, the tension between community-based practices and art institutions, and the role of devotion, memory, and cultural continuity within contemporary artistic work.

This soft bedtime practice is inspired by Kriat Sh'ma al haMitah — the Jewish tradition of reciting the Sh'ma before sleep. As the day ends, you'll be gently guided to set down whatever the day held — finished or unfinished — and settle into stillness. Through simple breath, a moment of reflection, and words from an ancient, beloved prayer, the practice cultivates forgiveness, protection, and a quiet sense of surrender. No particular beliefs or spiritual background required — just a willingness to end the day with intention, and to rest.

Send a textThis week on Hash Church we welcome TJ Arnovick, founder of The Original Resinator and Industry Processing Solutions, alongside Stephanie Arnovick, Rustin Porter, Eric Ward, and Harrison Stern for a deep dive into the evolution of mechanical resin separation and modern solventless workflows.Known for developing one of the most versatile dry and live sift cold refinement platforms in the space, TJ and the Resinator team have focused on process first innovation, exploring everything from Cryo-Trim®, Cryo-Sieve®, Nitro-Sift™, and Crop-to-Cure® methodologies to hybrid workflows that bridge dry sift, live sift, iceless bubble, freeze drying, rosin, and hydrocarbon preparation. The conversation also highlights the HiLyph edition freeze dryers and their expanding role in Crop-to-Cure® workflows, showing how freeze drying cannabis is reshaping terpene preservation, post harvest strategy, and the way modern hashmakers approach quality from harvest to refinement.Rather than focusing on products alone, this discussion explores the origin stories, culture, and engineering intent behind ultra cold processing, biomass reduction strategies, sift to hydrocarbon pathways, sift to rosin refinement, and the growing role of temperature controlled separation in preserving terpene integrity.Joining the panel are key collaborators and voices in the resin community, including Eric Ward, creator of the original Holy Water, Harrison Stern of Hash Engineer, and additional guests from the processing and freeze drying world. Together the group explores how legacy hash culture and modern engineering continue to intersect as resin separation evolves. If you are serious about heads, process, and the future of solventless refinement, this is an episode you will not want to miss.At Hash Church, we talk a lot about ritual, respect for the plant, and elevating the experience. That's exactly why we're proud to be supported by Puffco.Puffco continues to set the standard for modern consumption with tools built for people who truly care about flavor, temperature, and intentional use. From the Puffco Peak Pro with the 3D XL Bowl — delivering consistent heat, bigger hits, and unmatched terp expression —to the Proxy, redefining modular, ritual-based consumption, and the Pivot, bringing true Puffco performance into a compact, everyday format…These aren't gadgets. They're purpose-built tools for hash and solventless. We're genuinely grateful for Puffco's continued support of Hash Church, our guests, and our community. The war with Iran was predictable on the basis of the commentary flowing from the mouths of religious bigots for years. The Secret Teachings radio and Ground Zero collude for a friday simulcast with special guests Sean Hazlett and David Oates. Iran has been repeatedly accused of religious fanaticism, oppressing women, terrorism, and possessing WMD. Yet all of these things are expressed, allowed, carried out, or possessed by the United States and Israel. When Marco Rubio, President Trump, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and the lot talk about the apocalypse, evil, and crusades, you can be ensured that the administration of peace did not come to bring an end to hostilities, but a sword to start them.*The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. What if the clarity you've been searching for isn't in your mindset—but in your heart? In this conversation with Kimberly Snyder, we explore heart coherence, emotional regulation, intuition, and why so many high-achieving women are stuck in the “propelled heart” phase of constant doing. Kimberly shares the five stages of the heart + how stress, ambition, trauma, and ego keep us disconnected from our true power. We talk about nervous system rewiring, hormonal balance, and how dropping from the mind into the heart can change your relationships, health, and magnetism. From manifesting her husband in six weeks to building a wellness empire while raising two kids, Kimberly reveals how living from the heart creates ease, intuition, and alignment. If you're tired of forcing, hustling, or overthinking your next move—this episode will feel like a reset. We also talk about: The five heart stages: dark heart, propelled heart, steady heart, devoted heart, and clear heart Heart coherence and its impact on cortisol, DHEA, hormones, and longevity Why “manifestation culture” often keeps women in the mind instead of the heart Healing grief + how tragedy can open your heart Ego vs. authenticity in relationships The difference between emotional reactivity + true heart connection Nervous system regulation through heart-focused breathing Intuition vs. overthinking How partnership accelerates spiritual growth Magnetism, energy fields, and how your heart affects others Redefining success beyond hustle + achievement Why ordinary moments can feel extraordinary when you're embodied Resources: Website: mysolluna.com Book: The Hidden Power of the Five Hearts: Empower Your Thoughts, Balance Your Emotions, and Unlock Vibrant Health and Abundance Order our book, Almost 30: A Definitive Guide To A Life You Love For The Next Decade and Beyond, here: https://bit.ly/Almost30Book. Episode 3934: Kristen Manieri reimagines gratitude as a shared, tangible act by committing to write 365 handwritten thank you notes in one year. Through this simple but powerful practice, she discovers deeper connection, heightened awareness, and a more meaningful way to acknowledge the people who shape her daily life. Her experience invites us to move gratitude off the page of a private journal and into the hands of others, where its impact multiplies. Read along with the original article(s) here: https://www.gottman.com/blog/stop-creating-gratitude-lists-and-do-this-instead/ Quotes to ponder: "The act of writing a thank you note is so different from typing an email or tapping in a text. It's slower, more thoughtful, and more heartfelt." "No act is ever too small to deserve acknowledgment." In this episode of 7 Minute Stories, Aaron has a strange ritual he's a little embarrassed to admit. It happens quietly at the end of every season. A small moment that most people would overlook, but one he's come to treat with surprising care. At first it seems odd. Maybe even a little obsessive. But the deeper you go, the more it begins to feel familiar. Because beneath the surface is something deeply human...

February is over — love is out, and self-sabotage is in. This week, the girls are diving into the art of ruining your own life for absolutely no reason. And we're not talking about basic bad time management — we mean ignoring the love of your life just because, ghosting a potential employer after landing your dream job, and suddenly deciding to “work on yourself” by not replying to friends for three months. Tune in this week to commiserate and maybe walk away feeling slightly less called out — or at least knowing you're not the only one sabotaging your own happiness.!!! AI isn't just helping you write emails—it's shaping beauty standards, influencing elections, replacing jobs, generating music, and possibly rewriting reality itself. In this unfiltered conversation, Lindsey + Krista explore the cultural, spiritual, and economic implications of artificial intelligence. From AI influencers to blackmailing bots, autonomous coding, artificial womb technology, and the manifesto to replace human labor, this episode dives into the race toward AGI and what it means for humanity. Together, K+L explore whether AI is inevitable—or simply a narrative we've accepted. This episode is all about discernment. It's about staying human, protecting your creativity, strengthening your intuition, and deciding how you want to engage with technology in a world that feels increasingly synthetic. If you've felt fascinated, disturbed, or unsure about AI—this is for you. We also talk about: AI-generated porn + its impact on relationships The potential for emotional + relational attachment to AI technology How AI could shape the future of content creation, writing, and artistic voice Balancing AI for efficiency while protecting original thought + creativity How younger generations may grow up with AI as a constant companion or support system The economic tension between productivity gains + potential job displacement Why discernment + emotional intelligence may become more valuable skills in the AI era Resources: Instagram: @lindseysimcik Instagram: @itskrista Website: https://itskrista.com/ Order our book, Almost 30: A Definitive Guide To A Life You Love For The Next Decade and Beyond, here: https://bit.ly/Almost30Book. Matt Smallbone is the pastor of Church of the City's downtown campus here in Nashville, and we're continuing with a bit of a theme today as we talk again this week about The Lord's Prayer. Every time we talk about it during this prayer series though, I feel like there's something new to see and something deeper to understand. It's wild how a prayer so familiar, so memorized, so repeated, can still surprise us. Matt has written a brand new book called The Prayer Experiment that comes out in April and you're going to love. We're unpacking all of this over on spirituallystronger.com too, so please come join us as we process together over there! . . . . Thank you to our sponsors! In this episode of Over 50 & Flourishing, I sit down with Susan Holmes McKagan for a conversation about reinvention, courage, and playing the long game. After a successful career as a 90s supermodel, Susan pivoted in her late 40s and enrolled in Harvard Graduate School to deepen and refine her craft as a writer. She shares what inspired that decision, what it felt like to be older than many of her classmates, and how the academic rigor sharpened her writing and strengthened her discipline. We also talk about her nearly 27-year marriage to Duff McKagan of Guns N Roses. How they met on a blind date, what keeps their relationship strong, and what it was really like raising two daughters while navigating life on tour. Susan offers an honest look at the pros and challenges of being married in the rock and roll world and why longevity in love, just like career, requires intention and growth. In this episode, we discuss:Why Susan chose to go to Harvard Graduate School in her 40s after a successful modeling careerWhat it felt like to be the outlier in the classroomHow her writing sharpened and evolved after graduate schoolHow she met Duff McKagan and built a lasting marriage in rock and rollWhat tour life was like while raising a familyThe importance of taking leaps of faith at any ageWhy following your passion matters more than playing it safeHow benefiting from the long game leads to lasting successFor more on Susan Holmes McKagan, follow her on:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susanholmesmckagan/?hl=en Twitter/X: https://x.com/SuHolmesMcKagan Susan's book, The Velvet Rose: https://a.co/d/0cZfZwW8 Three Chords & The Truth: https://duffmckagan.com/radio-show/ Thanks to my Sponsors:Ritual: Save 25% on your first month at Ritual.com/OVER50 Hers: If you want clearer insight into your health, go to https://ForHers.com and schedule your labsAudible: Go to Audible.com/BigAgeSeries to start listening todayHoneylove: Save 20% off Honeylove at Honeylove.com/OVER50 Manukora: Head to Manukora.com/FLOURISHING to save up to 31% plus $25 worth of free giftsBloom Nutrition: Go to bloomnu.com and use code OVER50 for 20% off your first order.
