John Bush returns to Signals From Mars for Episode 460 to discuss Armored Saint in 2026, the new album Emotion Factory Reset, Punching The Sky, Dave Prichard, Jeff Duncan, Bob Nalbandian, Anthrax-era songs, Category 7, Metal Blade Records, touring, videos, songwriting, and the legacy of one of heavy metal's most respected voices.Victor and John dig into how Armored Saint balances classic heavy metal, hard rock, groove, melody, hooks, and modern production without losing the identity that has defined the band since March Of The Saint, Delirious Nomad, Raising Fear, Symbol Of Salvation, La Raza, Win Hands Down, Punching The Sky, and now Emotion Factory Reset. The conversation also explores the impact of Dave Prichard on Armored Saint's DNA, why Jeff Duncan deserves full recognition as part of the band's history, how technology changed music videos and recording, John revisiting his Anthrax material with Category 7, and what fans can expect from Armored Saint live in 2026.If you are a fan of John Bush, Armored Saint, Anthrax, Category 7, Metal Blade Records, classic heavy metal, hard rock interviews, metal podcasts, or deep conversations about music history, this episode is for you.Thank you to my Patrons for all of their supportSteven SailerSteve HoekerJeremy WeltmanMike JonesBrad DahlMark StriglGabriel RuizChris VaglioMetal DanJohan EderströmEd FergusonAnthony MackeyToni EspinSean RichmondYou can become a Patron for as little as $2 a month. It's always great to talk with John Bush, especially when his band Armored Saint drops a new album! Emotion Factory Reset dropped last week, and, as the kids would say, it's a banger! He tells me about certain songs on the album. One that was very emotional and personal from a family point of view. I did ask him about a couple that seemed to be aimed at a particular person. He also spoke about the reason the album is fairly short, clocking in at about 48 minutes. We talked about his career and if he'd change anything over the past 42 years. They have another monstrous tour coming up this fall with the guys from Metal Church. We discussed that and what else is coming up in 2026, including another gig where he will play his Anthrax era songs. Brim and Mr. Greer are back at it again. Apart from all the usual shenanigans, the gang chats about everything in pop culture with all the trimmings including Universal Studios ditching the Lost Continent, Jaws and Ghostbusters potentially returning to Universal, and the underground Disney Props Black Market documentary. They discuss the indoor theme park being built in Atlanta, Georgia, Killer Klowns Monster High dolls coming soon, and Matthew Lillard tagged for Plastic Man. The crew also chats about where Luke Skywalker's lightsaber came from, the random and now iconic sound at the beginning of The Police's Roxanne, and how for a fee – you can stay overnight at the place where Harry Potter was filmed. The cast talks about Anthrax's new music, and the game Operation Epic Furious: Strait to Hell. They talk about Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano on Netflix, Undertaker being ranked as the best wrestler of all time, and Stephen Colbert's final week being the end of Late Night era of television. The crew chats about entertainment news, opinions and other cool stuff and things. Enjoy.Wherever you listen to podcasts & www.thegrindhouseradio.comhttps://linktr.ee/thegrindhouseradio

“I wonder how many modern bands still do it?” Maybe the song is named after the band and referenced in the chorus. Maybe the song is named after the band but there's no reference to the band's name anywhere in the lyrics. Or maybe it's a song with a completely different title than the band name BUT the band name IS mentioned somewhere in the lyrics. “They mostly do it during their early years…” Whatever the case may be, A METAL BAND'S TITLE TRACK ultimately becomes the cornerstone of a band's sound and their overall mission statement and objective (especially when they're young and just starting out). “Taylor Swift doesn't have a song called ‘Taylor Swift'…and The Beatles don't have a song called ‘The Beatles'…” Whether it's about building a mood, declaring some philosophical ethos, or making a proud, self-referential namecheck for fans to latch on and lock in to, A METAL BAND'S TITLE TRACK sets the tone and lets the listener know what can be expected whenever they hear it. Discover what it means to be a “hill jack”, understand why the good people of “Missourah” enjoy sipping on “Kentuckah” bourbon while floating down the “Mississippah” river, and find out how “Three Dudes…” are about to fundamentally transform metal award shows forever when you JOIN US as we investigate the importance of A METAL BAND'S TITLE TRACK. This week I'm joined by Justin Greaves and Belinda Kordic to discuss the making of the latest Crippled Black Phoenix offering, Sceaduhelm. We dive deep into the album's influences and the inspiration behind many of its tracks. Along the way, we also explore Justin and Belinda's individual musical journeys — from Justin growing up around his father's record store, which helped shape his remarkably broad musical palette, to Belinda's evolution from extreme metal screamer into one of the most stirring and distinctive vocalists in heavy music today. On the Weekly News Rant, Sheriff Mike Scondotto returns by popular demand to help round up the latest singles for judgment and mull over the metal issues of the day. We give our first impressions of new tracks by Anthrax, Madball, Forsmán and others, while also answering some of your questions. PLUS: two servings of Unsanctioned Filth courtesy of Christbane with a track from their upcoming record, Antichrist, alongside the bleak death metal stylings of UK extremists Aeffect. ¿“polvo”?“Karma is a bitch”. Otra vez.Con las participaciones de:Mío: El Huevo FelizGustavo “El Carnepuerco” CáezGiancarlo “La Maldad” Martinez Deborah “Radioactive Girl” MateoCarlos “Voodoo Ranger” Solá Gustavito “El Gusti” Cáez Alberto “Súper Servo” ReyesConsigue ya la mercancía oficial de SE RASCÓ ASÍ visitando nuestro Güanime Store:

LIVING WRECKAGE, featuring members of Anthrax and Shadows Fall, have released their crushing new single “Righteous Side Of Sanity.” The lyric video for the single made it's debut on Metal Injection yesterday!“Righteous Side Of Sanity”, the first single from the band to feature vocalist Sage KingPremiere Lyric Video on Metal Injection!Single to be Featured on SOUND SYSTEM, from the Creative Forces Behind GUITAR HERO, ROCK BAND, ROCKSMITH, AND MORE 10/16/2026Currently working with acclaimed producer Zeuss, the band is taking its time to craft the follow-up album set for release in 2026. Unlike the rushed pace of the debut, the new sessions are deliberate and uncompromising, with every riff, harmony, and lyric scrutinized until it reaches its full potential. Experimenting with darker tunings, intricate vocal layering, and more adventurous songwriting, Living Wreckage is expanding its sound without abandoning its roots. The result is heavier, moodier, and more emotionally resonant, tackling themes of grief, addiction, and betrayal while still keeping the spirit of rock's cathartic release alive.Founded by guitarist Jon Donais (Anthrax, Shadows Fall), bassist Matt Bachand (Shadows Fall, Act of Defiance), guitarist Matt LeBreton (Downpour), and drummer Jon Morency (Let Us Prey), the group built its foundation on a lifelong passion for the golden age of rock and metal. Ces derniers dévoilent la pépite indie pop "Too Much Too Fast Too Soon", annonciatrice d'un onzième disque. The Metal Breakdown Daily: Tuesday, May 12, 2026 Today on the Metal Breakdown, we dive into the "what if" that could have changed music history. Tool guitarist Adam Jones reveals that the band was originally tapped to open the Las Vegas Sphere in 2023, but "Game of Thrones-style band politics" forced them to walk away. We break down the latest on those ongoing residency talks and why the next Tool studio album is the key to it all. Plus, the wait is finally over for Anthrax fans. The thrash legends have officially announced their first new music in a decade. We have the release date for the lead single "It's For The Kids," the tracklist for their new LP Cursum Perficio, and the chilling connection between the album's title and Marilyn Monroe. Finally, we head Down Under as Lamb of God, Trivium, and Bleed From Within announce a massive co-headlining Australian tour for October. We've got all the dates and pre-sale info you need to secure your spot. In Today's Episode: [00:20] Why Tool passed on opening the Sphere (and the "politics" involved). [01:15] Anthrax: New single "It's For The Kids" and album details. [02:10] Lamb of God & Trivium: Australian Tour Dates 2026. Well well well, Mr Hucknall, we meet again. Simply Red's 1995 album 'Life' was a big seller and had a massive number one single on it but kind of feels like it doesn't get remembered much when people look back. We certainly didn't know anything much about it going into this episode and to be honest we kind of wish it had stayed that way. But we do have probably the biggest albums and singles sections that we've ever done, loads of bands that we get to talk about like Smashing Pumpkins, Incubus, Anthrax and obviously Cliff Richard. Plus we get to add a song to our "much-loved" Give Me Some Reggae! playlist where we add terrible reggae songs from albums we're covering that are in no way reggae albums which is always the sign of a good episode. As always please do give us a follow on our social media platforms and why not go and give us a nice rating or comment over on Spotify now that you're able to while you're checking out this episode's companion playlist (which contains ALL of the songs we talk about on this one) and our ongoing and sprawling playlist of songs from each album that we do an episode on. And if you want to donate to our PayPal account for the price of a pint or a cup of coffee that is always appreciated as well obviously. Cheers!

“You like to hear how they have progressed or digressed…or either…or gressed…” This episode is a lot like looking at pictures of family when everyone is much younger and then looking at recent pictures of family and realizing that after enough time, a LOT changes. Just as people grow and age and (hopefully) evolve over time, no artist should currently be EXACTLY as they were when they first started, as there should be an obvious evolution and progression of their style and sound over multiple albums and decades, from their very FIRST to their very LAST. “I'm liking how this is going…we could do this for hours…” Prepare yourself for THE FIRST AND THE LAST, a snapshot in time from the killer opener on the very first album to the killer closer on the very last (or in some cases, most recent) album; basically it's the very first from the very first paired with the very last from the very last. “The word of the episode, ladies and gentlemen, is…” By the time you've finished this episode, you will no doubt have “the word of the episode” carved deep into your subconscious, so much so that you'll wonder where you put that lock blade buck knife your cousin gave you for Christmas. Realize that “sometimes you gotta check your oil” and a large majority of us “don't think John Cougar knows how to eat a chili dog”. For April's episode we discuss our favourite songs of 1987, including a lot of goth, some sparkly pop, industrial, thrash metal, hip hop, indie, and even a bond theme. We've each chosen our 10 favourite songs of the year and sent them over to Colin's wife Helen, who put the playlists together and distributed them so we were each given a playlist of the 20 songs from the other two hosts, along with our own 10. We then ranked the playlists in order of preference and sent them back to Helen, who totalled up the points and worked out the order. She also joined us on the episode to read out the countdown, which we found out as we recorded so all reactions are genuine. Now, admittedly, in parts we're a little bit brutal to some of the songs in the list as we're three separate people with differing music tastes, but please remember that to be in this episode at all the songs have to have been in one of our top 10's of that year.Bands featured in this episode include (In alphabetical order, no spoilers here!) - a-ha, Anthrax, Rick Astley, Big Black, Black, Butthole Surfers, The Cure, Dead Can Dance, Death, Def Leppard, Dinosaur Jr, Faith No More, Fleetwood Mac, Front Line Assembly, Guns N Roses, Lubricated Goat, Negativland, The Pastels, Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Pixies, Pop Will Eat Itself, Prince, Public Enemy, R.E.M., Sisters Of Mercy, Skinny Puppy, The Smiths, U2, Suzanne Vega, & The Wedding Present.Find all songs in alphabetical order here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7H6ir9yRUIOmg1hrAhKtwu?si=423f30e293904a4fFind our We Dig Music Pollwinners Party playlist (featuring all of the winning songs up until now) here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/45zfDHo8zm6VqrvoEQSt3z?si=Ivt0oMj6SmitimvumYfFrQIf you want to listen to megalength playlists of all the songs we've individually picked since we started doing best of the year episodes (which need updating but I plan on doing them over the next few months or so), you can listen to Colin's here – https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5x3Vy5Jry2IxG9JNOtabRT?si=HhcVKRCtRhWCK1KucyrDdgIan's here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2H0hnxe6WX50QNQdlfRH5T?si=XmEjnRqISNqDwi30p1uLqAand Tracey's here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2p3K0n8dKhjHb2nKBSYnKi?si=7a-cyDvSSuugdV1m5md9NwThe playlist of 20 songs from the other two hosts was scored as usual, our favourite song got 20 points, counting down incrementally to our least favourite which got 1 point. The scoring of our own list of 10 is now slightly more complicated in order to give a truer level of points to our own favourites. So rather than them only being able to score as many points as our 10th favourite in the other list, the points in our own list were distributed as follows -1st place - 20 points2nd place - 18 points3rd place – 16 points4th place – 14 points5th place – 12 points6th place – 9 points7th place – 7 points8th place – 5 points9th place – 3 points10th place -1 pointHosts - Ian Clarke, Colin Jackson-Brown & Tracey BGuest starring Helen Jackson-Brown.Playlist compiling/distributing – Helen Jackson-BrownRecorded/Edited/Mixed/Original Music by Colin Jackson-Brown for We Dig PodcastsThanks to Peter Latimer for help with the scoring system.Part of the We Dig Podcasts network along with Free With This Months Issue & Pick A Disc.Bluesky - https://bsky.app/profile/wedigmusic.bsky.socialInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/wedigmusicpcast/Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/wedigpusicpcast/Find our other episodes & podcasts at www.wedigpodcasts.com
It is with heavy hearts that we deliver this week's episode honoring the passing of another guitar hero giant whose riffs were mighty enough to support Lemmy: Phil Campbell. He was a guitarist who rarely got mentioned in the circles of recognized guitar greats, but his playing on 16 Motörhead albums provides all the badass-guitarist validation needed. Best known as Lemmy's right-hand guy, he also released 3 fantastic albums with his 3 sons as Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons. We pay tribute to this amazing Welsh guitarist and celebrate his entire discography! Rest in power, Phil! New to InObscuria? Typically, what we do is exhume obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. Rest In Peace, Phil. Your pure musicality and amazing songs will live forever in our hearts! Songs this week include: Persian Risk – “Ridin' High” from Ridin' High - Single (1983) Motörhead – “Deaf Forever” from Orgasmatron (1986) Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons – “Take Aim” from Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons - EP(2016) Phil Campbell – “Rocking Chair (feat. This week on Geekwire, we dig into Vinnie Vincent's latest bout of absurdity as he puts a $2 million price tag on his new album, while Ace Frehley's legendary 1975 Les Paul heads to auction with a hefty expected sale price. This week, we went out to the Firehouse backyard and dug up a time capsule from the decade when your two humble hosts met and decided to form their first band together: the sometimes amazing, sometimes confusing 1990s. The capsule revealed a collection of tunes spanning rock, punk, and metal. Robert was forced to test his endurance of the macabre and provided feedback that only Captain Content could. And all for your listening pleasure! What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show, Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection: an artist, album, or collection of tunes of rock, punk, and metal. This week, we talk exclusively about the 1990s and all things: grunge, alternative, goth, punk, hard rock, and everything in between. We hope that we turn you on to something new. Songs this week include: Sugartooth – “Frisbee” from The Sounds Of Solid (1996) The Mission U.K. – “Deliverance” from Carved In Sand (1990) Poster Children – “Junior Citizen” from Junior Citizen (1995) The Men – “Chuch Of Logic, Sin, & Love” from The Men (1992) Thee Hypnotics - “Heavy Liquid” from The Very Crystal Speed Machine (1993) Mind Over Four – “Funny Pocket” from Halfway Down (1993) Overwhelming Colorfast – “Arrows” from Overwhelming Colorfast (1992) Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts! Though they were one of the first so-called “grunge” bands to sign to a major label, Alice in Chains were something of an outlier in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s Seattle scene. They didn't fall directly into the punk camp, or the hair metal camp, and even the true metalheads thought they weren't hardcore enough. This became painfully evident when the band opened a tour for Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax, and were hazed, spat on, and booed. Alice's lead singer, Layne Staley, could take the criticism. He had a prankster's spirit, not to mention a rock ‘n roll attitude that paired well with his killer rock ‘n roll voice. But newfound fame was overwhelming, as was the destructive addiction to heroin Layne developed to deal with it all. Soon Layne Staley found himself lost in a jungle of his own making, not unlike the jungle that he sang so convincingly about in one of Alice in Chains' most endearing songs.
