The Tropical MBA Podcast - Entrepreneurship, Travel, and Lifestyle
Last week, we spoke to Mark Brenwall about why he left his job in San Francisco to move to Asia and start WOD Nation, an Amazon FBA business that sells CrossFit products. Today's podcast is the conclusion of that interview and in it, we speak specifically about Mark's entrepreneurial "code". In this conversation, Mark shares some of his unorthodox business philosophies, as well as some specific insights into the Amazon FBA platform, and why he almost decided to sell his business last year.

Mark Brenwall is the founder of WOD Nation, an Amazon FBA business that sells CrossFit products. A few years ago, Mark joined us for one of our favorite conversations we've had on this podcast in an episode called "The Power of Under Optimization". That episode was all about Mark's unconventional business approach, which prioritizes lifestyle and happiness over aggressive growth. Today's episode is the first in a two-part series where we revisit Mark's story. In this first part, we explore some of the personal and professional circumstances that led Mark to leave a seemingly great life in the United States for the unknown.
Mark talks with Coran about why he initially decided to sell his business but after going through the sale process, decided to not sell his business and what he is doing instead. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

http://www.tropicalmba.com/underoptimization/ A few years ago, I was at a mastermind in the Philippines and the people that were involved were a pretty intense group. At that event one entrepreneur stood out that was a little bit different than the rest of us. For must of us, we are always in the hustle mindset and we will do anything that it takes to grow our business. Mark Brenwall is almost the polar opposite. Lifestyle is very important to Mark and he abides by a strong set of personal rules about what he will and won't do for his business. In the two and a half years since Mark has become an entrepreneur, he has built a business called Wod Nation that currently nets him $20,000 a month in profit, and he did it all without compromising his beliefs. I invited Mark onto the show this week to share both his inspiring story and his unique approach to business.
Mark Brenwall and I talk about his transition from buying and selling websites to building an eCommerce brand from scratch.
Is selling on Amazon becoming as easy as selling on eBay? I used to think becoming a big brand and selling physical products on Amazon.com would be reserved for huge companies. But this week Ben Brandes shows us how easy it is to find profitable products on Amazon, contact manufactures and build your own brand. Ben is the guy who gave Mark Brenwall of Episode 37 the idea to start manufacturing his own jump ropes, and gives away some new great ideas during this week's podcast. It has never been this easy to become an entrepreneur and start your own online business as it is now. View the show notes with all of the links at http://www.TravelLikeaBossPodcast.com
Creating a facebook fan page, getting over 124,000 likes, and branding your own product to be sold through Amazon.com. This is the future. In this episode we discuss how Mark grew his fb fan page, tested the market selling products he bought off of eBay, and eventually created a better version of that product under his own brand name. He has recently launched into the Amazon.com warehouses which means he's able to live in Chaing Mai, travel the world, and have his products fulfilled by Amazon. This is a meaty episode, so get your pen and paper ready. See photos and links on the show notes here: http://www.travellikeabosspodcast.com/episode-list--show-notes
In episode 52, Joe and I sit down with Mark Brenwall to discuss how he's built a lifestyle business in buying and selling websites in less than 10 months and how it allows him the freedom and opportunity to travel the world and work on things he loves.
