On the eighty-seventh edition of Reality Bomb, Graeme Burk brings Sage Young and Max Curtis back to talk about their reactions to the 2021 New Year's Special, Revolution of the Daleks. Joy Piedmont talks to writer Talia Franks about their recent article for Nerdist about how Black characters are portrayed in the recent special, and how production decisions within Doctor Who don't consider the implications of race. Episode 13 - Still LifeThis week we focus on Big Finish Productions’ writing competition called the Paul Spragg Memorial Short Trips Opportunity 2019. It is in honor of the late Paul Spragg who was a very valued employee at the company until his death in 2014.In 2016, this contest started where fans are asked to write a single page synopsis and a single page opening of the story itself. That’s about 500 words for each page to start. The due date for this 4th year of the competition is on June 30th, 2019 so the competition is now over.As our guest on this special episode of MarkWHO42 we have Max Curtis, who entered the contest 2 years ago and became a runner-up. But even though usually only the winner gets to write their story for an audio adventure, his was so good that Big Finish hired him to complete his story and it’s being released as a subscriber special alongside June’s Main Range story “An Alien Werewolf in London”. The Short Trips adventure is called “Still Life” and features the characters of The Third Doctor and Jo Grant and in our opinion is utterly amazing and emotional. To get this audio, you must subscribe to the Main Range line at Big Finish and make sure story #252 is included, or you will have to wait a year or two until it’s separately released but listen to us... don’t wait. Go to Big Finish now... well after you listen to the episode of MarkWHO42 of course!MarkWHO42! Where Max Curtis gets you to enter the Paul Spragg Memorial Short Trips Opportunity!

“If you are doing political art, you can say goodbye to safety. Art is not about safety.” Pussy Riot activist Maria Alyokhina discusses how she’s used art to protest against authoritarianism in Russia, for which she spent nearly two years in prison. In this episode, she speaks out against the human rights abuses against LGBT citizens in Chechnya. After Scott's interview with Maria, former Moscow Times reporter Joanna Kozlowska and regular panelist Max Curtis explore the history of Russian feminist protests, from 1917 to today.
