In this episode of Excess Returns, Graeme Forster of Orbis joins us to discuss two major research papers: Six Courageous Questions for 2026 and Sunrise on Venus. We explore how long-running global trends may be reversing, what that means for U.S. dominance, the future of international and emerging markets, the risks and opportunities created by AI and massive CapEx spending, the dollar's shifting role, and how investors should think about valuation, humility, and navigating a world where the economic “water” is changing. This conversation is packed with global macro insight, long-term investing lessons, and practical frameworks for building more resilient portfolios. Topics Covered:• Why long-term market “water” becomes invisible to investors• Self-reinforcing global cycles and how China's WTO entry reshaped the world• Signs the 25-year U.S. outperformance cycle may be breaking• How tariffs, political shifts, and corporate reforms change the global landscape• Why international and emerging markets may now offer better expected returns• Why U.S. large caps are not the entire story of American exceptionalism• How to think about valuation, margins, and discounted cash flow models across markets• The AI boom, bubbles, capital cycles, and asymmetric outcomes• How AI CapEx constraints influence winners and losers• The shifting role of the U.S. dollar and why market shocks may behave differently• Maslow's hierarchy, needs vs. wants, and the return of state-driven capital investment• Deglobalization, reshoring, and the national-security lens for investing• How to evaluate China and Taiwan inside emerging markets• Why humility is an investor's greatest edgeTimestamps:00:00 Introduction01:02 Why Orbis wrote Six Courageous Questions for 202603:44 The David Foster Wallace “water” analogy and investing06:12 How a 25-year self-reinforcing cycle powered U.S. outperformance10:12 Signs the cycle may be breaking12:00 Corporate reform and opportunity in Asia13:55 Why active share, benchmarking, and incentives distort investor behavior17:31 Decomposing S&P 500 returns: margins, valuations, fundamentals20:20 Expected returns inside and outside the U.S.22:34 Why international stocks offer richer opportunity sets24:25 Currency implications and weakening dollar dynamics26:18 American exceptionalism beyond the top 10 mega caps28:49 Where Orbis is finding value today30:25 Biotech, healthcare, and post-COVID dislocation31:05 How Orbis thinks about valuation in an intangible-heavy world32:09 Is AI a bubble or the beginning of something bigger?34:30 Game theory of AI CapEx and right-tail outcomes36:00 CapEx cycles, history, and who benefits38:00 Indirect AI beneficiaries and the SK Square example40:35 Maslow's hierarchy and the shift from wants to needs42:32 Deglobalization, national security, and domestic reinvestment44:00 Capital returning to home markets and strategic industries46:00 Can anything reverse these structural trends?48:00 Balancing bottom-up investing with macro awareness49:45 The deeper risk in emerging markets: owning vs. avoiding51:00 Valuation still matters for long-term returns52:29 Corporate behavior, dividends, and re-rating cycles53:52 How Orbis views China vs. bottom-up opportunity55:34 Why great investors must be right 90–95% of the time in decision quality58:00 One lesson Graeme would teach the average investor

The blood-brain barrier (BBB), while essential for protecting the brain from toxins, has long been one of the greatest obstacles in treating brain diseases, particularly aggressive cancers like glioblastoma. Most chemotherapy drugs simply cannot reach the brain in effective concentrations, leaving patients with limited treatment options and poor outcomes. In this episode of Curing with Sound, we speak with Graeme Woodworth, MD, Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, whose work is transforming the landscape of brain tumor treatment through the use of focused ultrasound–mediated BBB opening. Dr. Woodworth discusses the role of microbubbles, his efforts to develop a real-time monitoring and dosing strategy for BBB opening, and the exciting results from his multicenter glioblastoma clinical trial. Discussion highlights: Glioblastoma Clinical Trial: Results published in Lancet Oncology report, for the first time, a possible survival benefit among newly diagnosed glioblastoma (GBM) patients treated with focused ultrasound + temozolomide (or TMZ, a chemotherapy drug). Researchers used focused ultrasound to noninvasively open the BBB in GBM patients before administering TMZ. When compared with a matched control group, a 40% increase in overall survival was observed. Published Findings for Measuring and Predicting BBB Opening: Researchers established a real-time, ultrasound-based “dose” measurement—using acoustic emissions from microbubble oscillations—to accurately predict when focused ultrasound will open the blood-brain barrier in glioblastoma patients. They discovered a non-linear dose–response range where blood-brain barrier opening is maximized, enabling safer, more precise, and more effective treatment monitoring. Karen Coleman-Ostrov, age 65, spent much of her adult life trapped in the exhausting cycle of dieting. She was a lifelong dieter who tried over a dozen different diet programs and protocols, each promising weight loss but ultimately leading to frustration. Some diets caused her to gain weight or slow down her metabolism, while others required tedious food measuring or strict deprivation. Though she often lost weight temporarily, none of these plans were sustainable long-term, and she would always regain what she lost.In August 2020, Karen had a pivotal moment when she saw a stunning, youthful photo of her sister-in-law, Dedra Campbell, on Facebook. Karen initially thought it was a much older photo because Dedra looked so slim and vibrant. When she learned it was recent, Karen immediately called her to uncover her secret. Dedra shared that her success came from practising intermittent fasting, a concept that initially worried Karen because it sounded like deprivation and constant hunger. Yet, out of curiosity and hope, Karen bought the book, “Fast.Feast.Repeat.” by Gin Stephens and decided to give fasting a try—starting with a clean 18/6 fast.To her surprise, Karen found fasting easier than expected. The first fast sparked a change that would transform her life.At the time, Karen weighed 175 pounds (fluctuating often between that and 182 pounds) at 5'5”. Over the coming months, Karen faced challenges like a slowed metabolism caused by years of yo-yo dieting, the effects of menopause, and managing type 2 diabetes. Less than a year into fasting, Karen joined The Fasting Highway and also ordered and read the book. Karen found encouragement from Graeme and fellow fasters, which was crucial as she learned to trust the process and understand that her weight-loss journey was uniquely hers—meaning she shouldn't compare her progress to others'. Karen lost weight gradually but steadily. After about two years, she dropped from 175 pounds to 160, and then a few months later to 149—a weight she hadn't seen in more than 20 years! Eventually, Karen's body settled around 142 pounds, a healthy and comfortable place for her. Her highest weight was 208 pounds, at which point she struggled with daily tasks such as bending over to tie her shoes, suffering from sleep apnea, and being out of breath after going up stairs or walking long distances.Today, Karen's health and mobility have vastly improved. She no longer has sleep apnea and can climb challenging staircases, like the 185 steps of the Gibbs Hill Lighthouse in Bermuda and the 294 steps of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, with ease. Maintaining her weight is effortless now with a flexible intermittent fasting routine, usually fasting 18/6 or OMAD on weekdays, and enjoying longer eating windows on weekends to socialise and eat out.Karen's favourite part about fasting is the control it gives her over food—not feeling controlled by it. When asked why she continues fasting after reaching and surpassing her goal weight, Karen's answer is simple: Intermittent fasting is not a diet or a fad—it's a sustainable lifestyle. This lifestyle has allowed her to lose weight for the last time and live confidently in her body every day.Come and Join Our Patreon Community. My name is Dianne LeBlanc. I am 67 years old. And, living in Canada, I have been married to the same wonderful man for 48 years. We have 2 adult children, ages 46 and 44, and 2 wonderful grandkids, ages 14 and 13. I did not have a weight problem growing up, but like many, after having my children, I started gaining weight. I joined WW when I was around 30 years old and soon became a lifetime member. The first time I joined I probably had 15 pounds to lose. I gained it all back and more in no time and struggled, always. I tried many different diets over the years, but none were sustainable. Fast forward to December 31st 2024, 2 months after my retirement, I was at my highest weight, probably close to 170, but I'm not sure, because I was no longer weighing. I'm 5'1'' tall, and size 12 was too small. I was very disappointed in myself and thought that I was just going to get bigger. I could see myself turning into my mother, who has been miserable all her life because of her weight. I'm down over 30 pounds and 4 pant sizes since January 1st of this year. I'm not sure if I have much more to lose, but I'm counting on my body to let me know.Come and Join Our Patreon Community. AusQuest (ASX: AQD) believes it has a major porphyry discovery on its hands in Peru. It's already returned some fascinating drilling results with mineralisation intersected over huge widths. Managing Director Graeme Drew believes it's yet to find the “eye” of the porphyry system and that's what the current drilling programme is about. If he's correct, the company's market cap of A$56 million could do just about anything. Guest Bio Graeme Drew is the Managing Director of AusQuest Limited. Mr Drew has over 40 years' experience in the exploration industry in Australia and overseas. Prior to co-founding Ausquest Limited, he was an Exploration Manager for CRAE and Rio Tinto Exploration Pty Ltd in Western Australia and Eastern Australia. He has extensive experience in the search for, and evaluation of, base and precious metals including nickel, copper, gold, uranium, zinc and diamonds. This supports the interpretation of a significant porphyry system still in its early stages of delineation. Location Provides Material Cost Advantages – Unlike many Andean porphyry deposits situated in remote high-altitude terrain, Cangallo sits near the Peruvian coast at relatively low elevation. This improves logistics, reduces potential infrastructure hurdles and enhances long-term development optionality. Eye of the System Still to Be Found – Geological indicators suggest current drilling is positioned on the edge or upper levels of the porphyry system. The ongoing RC and diamond programs are designed to vector toward the higher-grade core, which could materially change the project's scale and economics. Early-Stage Drilling Indicates Consistent Mineralisation – Intercepts to date show consistent copper grades across large widths, with oxide mineralisation from surface and sulphides appearing at depth. The presence of tonalite dykes carrying higher grades provides encouragement that the main intrusive centre is nearby. Significant Re-Rating Potential – With a current market capitalisation of A$56 million, AusQuest remains lightly valued relative to the potential scale of a major porphyry discovery. As drilling advances and assays confirm grade trends toward the interpreted core, the company could enter a transformational phase.

Many clinics deliver exceptional patient care, yet still struggle to attract new patients. Why? Because patients can't “see” your value unless your brand communicates it clearly. In this episode, Beyond Your Logo: How to Become the ‘Only' Choice in Your Niche With Your Brand, we sit down with Graeme Gladman, Founder of BrandQuest, to explore how a well-defined brand story becomes your most powerful patient-acquisition tool. Graeme brings more than 30 years of expertise in brand strategy, creative direction, and marketing leadership, having developed brand stories for over 200 businesses. Today, he explains why so many medical practices unintentionally blend into the “same, same, same” online landscape and what it takes to stand out in a meaningful and strategic way. In this episode, Graeme shares insights on: Why most medical clinic brands look and sound identical • The critical difference between branding and marketing • How patients actually choose their medical practice • Why your ‘WHY Story' creates stronger loyalty than your services • The most common branding mistakes clinics make • How authentic differentiation turns a practice into the first—and only—choice • What the “Brand Within” is and how BrandQuest uncovers it • Actionable steps to reveal your clinic's unique identity and narrative • How strong branding increases referrals, trust, and long-term practice growth If you're committed to growing your practice, elevating your reputation, and attracting patients who align with your values, this episode is essential. BONUS: Free 15-Minute Consultation With Graeme Graeme is offering listeners a free 15-minute brand clarity consultation to help you identify gaps, ask questions, and understand how your clinic can stand out more effectively.
Hello! Nice to connect with fellow Intermittent Fasters from around the world. My name is Hope, and I welcome you to join me in reflecting on my new journey of committing to losing weight for the last time. I live in Maine with my supportive and loving husband and best friend, Kevin, near the beach, alongside our dogs, Bea and Lou. I joined the Fasting Highways Patreon community in May of 2025 and am not looking back. From being placed on a diet as a preteen through adulthood, of going through nursing school, getting married and having 3 children, getting divorced, having anadult child diagnosed with a mental health issue, & working through Covid as a RN,,,,, I continued to yo-yo up and down with weight fluctuations and trying various diets (cabbage soup diet, weight watchers, slim fast, South Beach, lowcarb, Adkins, faith based intuitive eating plan, etc.) only repeating the same patterns. Gain weight, try another diet, lose some weight, regain, plus some. Sound familiar? Self-reflecting on how I got to this place, I have realised that I turned to food in unhealthy ways to manage my stress &suppress unwanted feelings, mainly overeating sugary foods, and had unrealistic expectations around weight loss. It is about the journey now and being patient with myself, to create a healthier lifestyle while staying plugged into alike-minded community for support & encouragement, while being consistent. The journey so far has brought freedom from food noise, a mindset shift, & has evolved into so much more than a 25-pound weight loss. I'm just getting started! God commands His people to live truthfully, protecting one another's reputation and relationships. False witness destroys trust and divides communities. The ninth word leads us to preserving the Body of Christ by carefully and justly guarding how we speak about one another.

What if the work you do every day could help 15-25 families consider adoption with just a $1,500 Christmas card budget? In this episode, Graeme Watt, co-founder and leader of Anthem Creative, shares his remarkable journey from outdoor adventure guide to nonprofit founder to running a thriving creative agency that serves organizations pursuing human flourishing. Through pivotal relationships with two mentors - Tom Ko, his "fundraising Yoda," and Michael Gibney, his business mentor of 15 years - Graeme discovered how to build businesses that amplify good in the world. From Googling "how to start a nonprofit" at age 26 to celebrating 10 years running a full-service agency with his brother, Graeme reveals how the right relationships at the right time, combined with unwavering optimism and clear vision, can transform not just your business trajectory but your entire life's work. His agency operates with a simple filter: "Will this amplify human flourishing?" This principle guides everything from client selection to team building, creating a business that treats every project as an opportunity to make the world better. Graeme reflects on how mentorship shaped his leadership, why passion is the single greatest competitive advantage in hiring, and how one adoption agency campaign proved that creative work can genuinely change lives - one family at a time. Can Scotland really become independent by May 2027? At the latest Pensioners for Indy meeting, guest speaker Graeme McCormick laid out his nine-step roadmap to Scottish independence — and sparked a lively, thought-provoking debate. Some in the audience argued that Scotland is a colony. Others insisted that Scots are sovereign. Can both views be true? Graeme says no — and challenges us to think deeply about what independence actually means. The British state claims Scotland is in a voluntary union, yet can't explain how we might voluntarily leave that union. So which is it — a union or a trap? Tune in for a fascinating and fiery discussion about sovereignty, legality, and Scotland's future in (or out of) the UK.
Graeme Wall, the Conservation Director of the Rushworth Field and Game Branch of Field and Game Australia, is an enigma. We first learned about Graeme and his branch last year and celebrated all the things they do for conservation because they love to duck hunt. During Robbie's tour down under, he managed to stop in and see Graeme in Rushworth. Graeme joined Robbie on the podcast to discuss his tiny little town of just 1,000 people in the middle of nowhere—Victoria, Australia—and his role as the spear tip of conservation in his community. The two discuss Rushworth's rural success in conservation, all recorded on location in the middle of an Australian wetland in the middle of nowhere (check out the YouTube video). A brutally honest look at grief, addiction, and finding a way back to life. After almost four years and 130 episodes of Outcast World, the mic finally turns towards its own creator. This week, the show takes a personal turn as The Divorce Social host Samantha Baines — known from BBC Radio London, The One Show, The Crown and Call The Midwife — interviews Outcast World's Graeme Smith, an award-winning broadcaster and podcaster, about a story he's never shared publicly before.Recorded in late 2023, the conversation explores the loss of his partner after a decade together to a traumatic drugs death, and his own struggle with mental health and addiction. In 2012, Graeme ended up in rehab on a mental health ward after a total breakdown. And not the nice private rehab you see celebrities go to, but the gritty kind that usually cleans up drug users straight from prison. He had lost his job, his mind, his home and all his self worth. But within the dark time on the rehab wards of a mental health trust specialist detox unit, The Chapman-Baker Unit, in North Manchester he felt like her was remade. His self worth realised again after putting the pieces together, with nothing, not even the laces in his shoes after a suicide attempt earlier in his rehab stay. Then not long after, came the death of his ex fiancé, Darren Williams, to drugs at just 35 years old on a night out in London in February 2015 under circumstances that will never truly make sense. A healthy 35 year old man just died at a party with friends. Tearing apart the lives of so many people forever. It's a raw and honest look at grief, love, and starting over — from someone who's spent years helping others tell their stories, now sitting on the other side of the mic.---THIS IS OUTCAST WORLD ---Like and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts and please leave a review. In this episode, we check in with Erika from episode 212, recorded in February 2024. Erika is 45 years old and lives in Pennsylvania, USA, with her family and pets, working in the beauty industry.Bio In March of 2022, Erika decided it was time for a change —and that's when her journey with intermittent fasting began. In just the first year, she lost nearly 90 pounds, going from her highest weight of 249 to feeling her best in the 160s. She says that's where her body felt strong, balanced, and free.Fasting didn't just change her weight — it transformed her mindset, energy, and confidence. Erika had hoped that fasting might also heal her Achilles tendonitis and heel spur, but in late 2024, she needed surgery. What could have been a setback became another part of her story. Her recovery was quick and inspiring — her doctors were amazed — and today she focuses on gentle movement, stretching, yoga, and light walking to stay active. Not long after her last podcast, life got even busier — and sweeter. Her youngest daughter moved in with her three-month-old baby, and just a month later, Erika discovered that her eldest daughter was also expecting. It's been a year filled with love, laughter, and big family moments.Through it all, Erika stayed grounded in fasting. Sure, she's had some longer eating windows and maybe a few too many sweets — but she knows exactly how to reset. And now, her daughter Kiana has joined the journey too, losing over 70 pounds through fasting after weaning her baby.Erika shares her story and encouragement on Instagram at @Pause and Fast, reminding everyone that wellness doesn't have to be complicated or expensive — it just takes consistency, curiosity, and a whole lot of self-love.To connect with Erika https://www.instagram.com/pause_and_fast/Fasting isFree (@pause.and.fast) | TikTokComing soon: The Pause and Fast Podcast on Spotify. In the latest episode in our series on belief, we’re looking at the CCP’s faith in Artificial Intelligence. China has embraced AI like no other nation, laying out a plan for AI that would see 70 percent adoption across six sectors - including governance – within the next two years. This aggressive approach is driven by commercial imperatives, the desire to shape international standards, and the hope that AI will solve the Party’s biggest worry: social stability. To explore China’s AI dreams, Louisa and Graeme are joined by China Media Project’s Alex Colville, who also writes the China Chatbot newsletter on Lingua Sinica, and Daria Impiombato, a senior analyst at the Mercator Institute for China Studies. Rigby's Encyclopaedia of the Herring: Adventures with the King of Fishes (Hurst, 2025) by Graeme Rigby contains almost everything you didn't know you needed to know about Atlantic herrings. (Pacific and Baltic varieties are in there too.) Herrings make the world bigger: with spawnings seen from space, a trillion individuals make this one of the tastiest and most abundant vertebrates on Earth. From ‘A Beginning' to ‘Zuiderzee', count the wars fought over herrings; don't forget Scotland vs the Holy Roman Empire. The herring's high-pitched farts were logged as Soviet submarines, and one herring joke featured in a Jonson play, four Shakespeare plays and the glorious, suppressed fantasia Nashes Lenten Stuffe. Herrings mock taxonomists; physically change with sea temperature and salinity; stuff predators full to bursting, then swim away. The Great Sardine Litigation? The true history of kippers? Bloaters? Reds? Chopped herring? Shuba? All this and more. Between sustainable fishery genetics, sixteenth-century Bavaria's ‘Herrings, herrings, stinking herrings', and Van Gogh's ear, every entry is a story, a comic journey, an adventure. Some even come with recipes. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. Keith McDonald is back for his fifth appearance on The Fasting Highway with his good friend Graeme Currie. At 45, Keith is a father of two daughters and has experienced a profound transformation—physically, emotionally, and mentally. His journey began at 317 pounds in 2015, and by 2019, he had lost 28 pounds, reaching 289 pounds when he discovered the benefits of fasting. Through dedication and deep self-reflection, he dropped to 173 lbs by 2021.But the journey wasn't without challenges. Keith became obsessed with weight loss, and the extreme drop led to years of sciatica and physical pain. That turning point led him to strength training 2.5 years ago, where he rebuilt hisbody, resolved his back issues, and added nearly 30 lbs of muscle—all while maintaining his clothing size. He also underwent skin surgery to complete his transformation. In this episode, Keith opens up about the real-life tribulations of maintenance, the emotional toll of transformation, and how fasting remains a foundational part of his life—not just for weight, but for wellness, resilience, and purposeOur Patreon Community Please consider joining the Fasting Highway Patreon community. In this conversation, Phil and Graeme Hill discuss the importance of inclusivity in outdoor activities, particularly for individuals with disabilities and neurodivergent conditions. They explore the barriers that prevent participation, the need for a focus on abilities rather than disabilities, and the role of instructors and administrators in creating accessible environments. Graeme shares insights from his extensive experience in the field, emphasizing the importance of adapting programming and equipment to meet the needs of all participants. The discussion also touches on changing attitudes towards disability, financial considerations, and the future of inclusive outdoor activities. Inclusivity in outdoor activities is essential for everyone. Focus on abilities rather than disabilities to empower participants. Barriers to participation often come from misconceptions and risk aversion. Instructors need training to support neurodivergent individuals effectively. Changing attitudes towards disability is crucial for progress. Financial arguments against inclusivity can be weak if not researched. The journey to participation is as important as the activity itself. Technical adaptations can enhance accessibility without expensive equipment. Promoting positive imagery of diverse participants is vital. The future of outdoor activities should be fully inclusive for all abilities. Loved this episode, Tonya has had an amazing journey. Enjoy this encore episode as we take a short holiday break , We will be back next week with all new episodes. Tonya Kortekaas lives in Pontiac, Michigan, with her husband, Michael, of 11 years. She is the mother of three adult sons and a “bonus” mom to Michael's three children.Tonya spent most of her adult life as a stay-at-home mom of 3 growing boys and self-employed as a portrait photographer. She felt that her most important mission in life was to raise her children and give them all the care and love they deserved. She has been good at putting her family before her own needs, but the costs of that have been not caring for her mind and body as she should. As her children have become adults and she has had more time to work on herself, she has entered into the full timeworking world and currently works for Oakland University. She enjoys outdoor walks, kayaking, biking, watercolour painting and coffee in her free time. Tonya has struggled with her weight since her early 20s. She realizes that emotional eating and overindulging in sweets have been her issues. She has tried countless diets, which have allowed her to lose weight but eventually gain it all back and more over the years. At her annual physical exam in March of 2022, she was confronted with the highestweight of her lifetime at 349 lbs. and a BMI of 51. Her blood pressure was soaring to a dangerous high, and her blood tests showed she was pre-diabetic. She knew at that moment it was time for a significant change. Shewas sick of living life with this ongoing weight struggle and longed deeply to be a “normal” "-sized person. Little did she know that change was going to lead her to an intermittent fasting lifestyle and complete freedom from her struggles with eating. She's lost 155 lbs over 26 months of her weight loss journey. Since being on the podcast in February of 2023, episode 161, Tonya has discovered the benefits of a carnivore lifestyle and hasnoticed numerous health benefits by cutting the sugar and processed foods out of her life. Meet Graeme Cowie of Daryana's Backyardand Cowie's Cows - where dogs live their best ranch life!
On September 10, 2025, conservative activist Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, appeared to have been fatally shot in the neck during an event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, allegedly by 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson. The shot, we are told, was fired from a rooftop 142 yards away. The public narrative — spread by the FBI, TPUSA, and the mainstream media — is riddled with dubious details: Robinson's unexplained hours on campus, multiple clothing changes, undetected rooftop assembly and firing, a 15-foot jump escape, ditching a reassembled rifle with his DNA, incriminating texts and notes (one destroyed), and surrender after a 33-hour manhunt facilitated by his parents and a Republican activist, yet no confession. Skeptics online have highlighted improbabilities like Robinson's lack of marksmanship expertise, a massive security stand down at the UVU event, missing CCTV footage, possible evidence tampering by Kirk's team, and odd security guard movements moments before the shot — all suggesting the possibility that things aren't quite as they are being portrayed by authorities. Joined by longtime friend of the podcast, Kit Klarenberg, we look at all that plus the evidence of Kirk's evolving politics in the months leading up to his demise, including recent criticisms of Israeli influence and Zionist donors, and we consider the extraordinary media-fueled political division that followed the as-yet unexplained events at UVU.To find out more about the people and music featured in today's episode, visit the Assassinations Podcast website, www.AssassinationsPodcast.com While there, you can check out our Bookstore, where we recommend some great episode-related reading material, or shop our Merch Store to nab a logo tee or tote bag. I'm Elaine, and I'm 59 years old. I've been fasting for 6 years now, and it still remains the easiest and most effective way of keeping weight off for me. I'm not one of these people who have been able to lose the initial weight, and never put another pound on - I have had several hiccups along the way, where medication, illness or stress has allowed my weight to rise, and required me to fall back to fasting to get it off again. But it's always there. So reliable for me, and I know I'm lucky that my body always responds to IF very quickly. I lost my job last year, and that was a very stressful period. Then Julian and I decided to sell our house, but after nine months, it hadn't sold, and both of our stress levels were off the scale. In June of this year, we decided to rent out our house and buy a boat in the Midlands of the UK. Even that was stressful - leaving a five-bedroom house for a two-bedroom boat was extraordinarily difficult, but, as always, we got through it. My weight was up and down like a yo-yo, but now I'm out walking again (my only exercise!), and we're living a relaxed, happy life on the boat. Winter is about to come, and we think that will be difficult, but I don't mind difficult things under my control; I just hate when other people drive me down a stressful path! My advice for fasters remains the same from the first time I spoke on Graeme's podcast - don't compare yourself to others because comparison is the thief of joy, we are all individuals, and everyone of us will have a different reactionto something someone else is doing, and live your life - IF shouldn't take the joy from your life, it should add to it because now you look and feel fantastic!!To help Elaine with her amazing charity walk on the Camino, please follow the link below. The search for a suspect in Charlie Kirk's death continues. The FBI released some grainy photos of a person of interest wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap — all in black — in the hope it might trigger tips or other information from the public. The FBI also said it recovered a bolt-action rifle that may have been used in the shooting. With no suspect in custody, no motive has been established either. And let's be incredibly clear: as of this moment, we still do not know why someone shot and killed Charlie Kirk. We spoke with Graeme Wood, Atlantic staff writer, about the growing trend of political violence in America. And in headlines, Senate Republicans go nuclear to push through Trump's nominees, the U.K. fires its ambassador to the U.S. over his links to Jeffrey Epstein, and the Department of Education ends grant funding for minority-serving colleges.Show Notes:Check out Graeme's piece – https://tinyurl.com/3p6ed8cjCall Congress – 202-224-3121Subscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/3kk4nyz8What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcastFollow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday
