In this excellent episode, Nancy and Jose are joined in the studio by Monica Ball, the Board President of Uplift San Diego. As a community member, Monica is extremely passionate about creating change and improving the lives of those around her by filling gaps. Through UPLIFT San Diego (which stands for Urban People Living in Faith and Trust), Monica has been able to help countless families. Why you might ask, is housing stability so important for students? Through her time working with UPLIFT San Diego, Monica has found a heavy correlation between housing stability and school achievement. Housing stability provides students with the extra support they need to thrive in the learning environment. The Ghost Town of Little Mountain ParkMysteries abound in our crazy, creepy, beautiful City of Winnipeg. One of the quietest mysteries is that of a Settlement previously known as Mount Royal. Today this location is more commonly known as Little Mountain Park aka Little Mountain Off-Leash Dog Park, situated off Inkster, North of Winnipeg. Our Audio Curators Jas and Sher have heard about strange locations before but tackle this location that would also be considered a Ghost Town to a Settlement that existed over 100 years ago and thrived with dozens of families living, working and ultimately dying. There seems to be something ‘off’ to many who visit especially near the legendary Cottonwood tree that is so special, it has heritage designation but it’s also known as the ‘Hanging’ Tree. As well Jas and Sher welcome guests to the PodLounge this week – Janet & Shelley! For more information on Little Mountain Park please visit their website http://www.lmppoa.ca The article from which the history was used for this episode is credited to webmasters Kevin & Leslie Nakonechny, Lloyd Johnston and Monica Ball.
