What is war really like for the people who have lived through it? In this episode of the Mulligan Brothers Interviews Podcast, military veterans from the Special Air Service, United States Navy SEALs, Force Recon, Gurkhas, and other elite units share firsthand stories of combat, survival, fear, sacrifice, and the true reality of life at war. From Iraq and Afghanistan to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Westgate shopping mall attack in Nairobi, these veterans talk about the moments that changed them forever. Ambushes, close calls, hostage situations, firefights, loss, and the harsh realization that even the most highly trained soldiers are never fully in control. This episode is not about glorifying war. It is about understanding the human cost behind it. The guests reflect on what it feels like to face death, how training takes over when everything goes wrong, and the role of faith, instinct, and mindset in survival. They also share how combat changes the way you see life, purpose, brotherhood, and service long after the battlefield is behind you. If you want a raw and honest look at war from the people who have stood inside it, this episode offers a rare window into the minds of elite military veterans. Topics include: • The reality of combat and war • SAS, Navy SEAL, Force Recon, and Gurkha experiences • Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, and Nairobi • Ambushes, firefights, and survival stories • Fear, pressure, and close calls in combat • Brotherhood, sacrifice, and military service • Faith, purpose, and life after war Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode, we delve into the remarkable experiences of Danny, a retired military veteran who spent years exploring the rugged backcountry surrounding Carson, Washington, deep within the forests of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Drawn to the wilderness for hiking, fishing, and searching for historic mining sites, Danny recounts a trip in the summer of 2004 that led to events he never expected to witness. While navigating remote logging roads and creeks in the mountains of Skamania County, Danny describes strange activity that unfolded over the course of a single trip into the forest. A quiet night in camp turned unsettling after something large made its presence known in the darkness. The following day brought another discovery along an abandoned road that suggested something massive had recently passed through the area.Later that afternoon, deep along a secluded forest road, Danny found himself standing only a short distance away from something he initially believed was part of the landscape itself. As the moment unfolded, he realized he was looking at something entirely different.Danny shares the details of that encounter, the environment where it happened, and what stood out most about the creature he observed. Join us as we explore Danny's experience in the remote wilderness of Washington and the moment that left a lasting impression on how he views the forests of the Pacific Northwest.

How to Hire a GM or Operator for Your Home Service Business (and Avoid a $100K Hiring Mistake)Scaling past $10M can expose a brutal truth: the leadership team that got you here might not be the team that gets you to $25M+. Joe Pags covers the latest developments surrounding Iran after strong comments from Pete Hegseth about U.S. and allied control in the region's airspace. What does that actually mean from a military standpoint—and how serious is the situation becoming? Pags walks through the implications and what Americans should be paying attention to. Then retired USAF Colonel and combat veteran Rob Maness joins the show for a deep, informative breakdown of the potential military strategy involving Iran. Why is this moment different from the past? This conversation with Doug Katz went deeper than expected, but it was SO good! Doug is a retired Military Veteran who has used his disability as inspiration to create adaptive items. He just started selling the Nulu adaptive knife last summer - it's inspired by the Inuit Ulu, but adjusted to accommodate his and others' disability. Talking with Doug, I learned that there are Adaptive Libraries across the country, so that someone can try an item before buying. The conversation got deep when we went into whether a disability is really a disability, which may have gone a little off topic, but I felt like it was too important a thread to not pull on, and I'm glad we did. This is a topic that I've thought a lot about, but haven't really had the chance to vocalize, and I imagine Doug is always ready to go into it.I love Doug's entrepreneurial spirit and his inventor mind - and how he's working to extend independence for people. Here's Doug's website for Nulu Knives: https://nuluknives.com/He's on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/d.m.katzHe's on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/DOUGLASMKATZ/If you loved this ability convo and would like Doug to speak, here's his speaker link: https://dougkatz8.wixsite.com/douglasmkatzSend me a message!Support the showLike this episode? America's manufacturing sector continues to face a critical skilled labor shortage—but one highly capable talent pool often goes overlooked: military veterans. In this episode of Advanced Manufacturing Now, host Rachel Thomas, editor at SME Media, is joined by Michael McConnell, senior editor at SME Media, to discuss his upcoming February feature in Manufacturing Engineering & Technology magazine.
Hello to you listening in Suffolk, Virginia!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more for an important story) for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. Each one of us - if we're determined - finds a way to compost the regrets, poor decisions, failures, shames and blames that are part and parcel of living life into something almost beyond description: personal transformation. My long time friend, podcasting colleague, disabled military vet, and avid hiker, Keith McNally, is a man finding his path to transformation. His goal? Thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail beginning on March 29, 2026, crossing 14 states on the East Coast and finishing 2,197 miles 5 months later. Some of the challenges include constant rough terrain with difficult footing, a series of steep grades, climbs and descents, as well as river crossings balanced on logs, extreme weather, insects, and rock scrambles using hands for climbing. The elevation profile of the AT over its length is akin to summiting Mount Everest from sea level and back approximately 16 times. So yes, physical fitness is a must to take on the AT; but it is mental fortitude and the ability to adapt to unforseen challenges that is key to finishing the hike.Keith's journey will be a test of perseverance, a tribute to the beauty of the natural world, and an opportunity for personal growth. Even more importantly, Keith is setting the groundwork for a non-profit foundation to help military veterans find their own Trails to Transformation. This first hike is just the beginning. But here's something else. Keith is not walking alone. He has also been steadfastly training an indefatigable Aussie cattle dog he named Ashley after rescuing her from a shelter. Click HERE to watch a short video entitled: Introduction to Ashley - Trail Partner and Training CompanionAs you can imagine, an expedition like this one does not come cheap. I know money is dear. And, here I am asking you to please reach deep into your pocket to give what you are able to Keith & Ashley's GoFundMe project. On the GoFundMe site you'll find all the details as well as a punch list of expenses so you can see where your contributions will go. Click HERE to access Keith's GoFundMe, add what you can, and invite others to be part of the mission. I did! Over-regulation is not the solution to what ails the American banking system. Rigorous, responsible supervision is. The initial report on the 2023 debacle by former Vice Chairman for Supervision, Michael Barr, was an exercise in obfuscation and sophistry. The American people deserve supervisors who are not asleep at the wheel, and the incoming Chairman of the Federal Reserve should undertake a thorough investigation of the systemic and oversight failures that led to that disaster. Source: nypost.com If there was every anything about Trump, it would have been released before he reached the bottom of the escalator in 2015, the Comey FBI would have leaked it, and the Dems would have brought it up at some point while Biden was in office. But none of that happened. Why? Because Epstein leads to the Dems, and people like myself have been trying to warn the world about it for 10+ years. https://twitter.com/WarClandestine/status/2002408563193368834?s=20 and it worked brilliantly. Could you imagine if in Trump's first term he released all this stuff about Epstein? The public would not have believed it, and the Dems/MSM would have claimed it was all politically motivated and fabricated by Trump. The only way this Epstein disclosure was going to work, was to get the public to beg for it. So that's what Trump did. https://twitter.com/MikeBenzCyber/status/2002450017647301084?s=20 https://twitter.com/WarClandestine/status/2002530633394934144?s=20 partner with Wolfe via the TerraMar project, which is also connected to the Clintons and the Clinton Foundation. What is Nathan Wolfe known for? Searching for bat coronaviruses in Ukraine via USAID Project PREDICT, via his biolab company, Metabiota, which was funded via Rosemont Seneca, which is partially owned by Hunter Biden. Russia accused Wolfe and his biolab company of creating genome-specific biological weapons in Ukraine. This situation has been addressed by RFK Jr. and Tulsi multiple times, and has been a major topic at the UN for over 3 years now. So Epstein had an interest in eugenics and he had financial/social connections to virologists who were making genome-specific biological weapons via USAID grants in Ukraine. Nathan Wolfe even directly thanked Epstein in his 2011 book “The Viral Storm: The Dawn of the New Pandemic Age” where Wolfe predicted the COVID pandemic 8 years before it happened… So what am I getting at? I think Epstein had plans to engage in ethnic cleansing/population control/genocide via biological weapon, and I think he had something to do with Covid. Epstein is at the epicenter of the Deep State empire. He was essentially a real life James Bond villain. The timing could not be worse. He and Hillary are in the middle of trying to fight subpoenas to testify in person to the House Oversight Committee on the Epstein matter and what they might know. They want to submit sworn statements. Republican Committee Chair James Comer (KY-1) wants to be able to question and cross-examine them in person. However, eastern Ukraine citizens, those currently living in the Donbas region, who are supportive of Russia, will not be permitted to vote. This creates a rather bizarre official hypocrisy within the Zelenskyy regime. The official position of Zelenskyy is that Eastern Ukraine will never be accepted as a part of the Russian federation. Zelenskyy has recently noted, with EU leadership support, that his government will never recognize Eastern Ukraine as part of the Russian federation. However, this same region, approximately 20% of Ukraine, will not be permitted to participate in his controlled election. Essentially, any Ukraine resident who does not support Zelenskyy will not be permitted to vote in any election, if any election is ever permitted. Kennedy and now additionally honors President Donald J. Trump, who has brought America back and saved the Trump-Kennedy Center. The Board's action is permissible under the statute and no legislation is necessary. The Board’s action does nothing to change the statutory title. Instead, the Board has–in line with longstanding Executive Branch practice–designated a new name. For example, The Office of the Federal Chief Information Officer, within the Office of Management & Budget, is designated by statute as the “Office of Electronic Government.” But it's long gone by the name “Office of the Federal Chief Information Officer” in official, public, and internal communications. Similarly, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is designated by statute as the “Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection.” But since the beginning, the agency has long gone by the name Consumer Financial Protection Bureau or CFPB in all official communications, correspondence with the Hill, titles and signage on its buildings. The “United States Institute of Peace” was established by statute but was renamed by the Department of State as the “Donald J. Trump United States Institute of Peace.” The Department of War was established as the “Department of Defense” by statute in 1947. Earlier this year, President Trump authorized the use of the name “Department of War” and the name is now etched on the Pentagon's building and in official correspondence and public communications. It is entirely fitting for the Board of Trustees to vote to add President Trump to the title so that this Center is now named The Donald J. Trump And The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts. President Trump has provided superb leadership at every level to save the Kennedy Center from financial ruin and wokeness, and to bring our national treasure to new heights! In Round 101 of the Tactical Transition Tips on the Transition Drill Podcast, there comes a point in a military or first responder career when the job that once felt right begins to feel different. You may still be committed, still disciplined, and still performing, but something in you has changed. The identity you built through years of service no longer aligns with the person you have become. Many veterans and first responders feel this shift quietly. It shows up as internal friction, a loss of energy, or a subtle awareness that the role no longer matches your values or emotional needs. This episode explores the emotional reality behind that moment. It focuses on identity, direction, and the slow evolution that happens in these careers. Transition is not about quitting. It is about understanding who you are becoming and how your future can reflect that growth.Using grounded insight, this episode walks you through the experience of misalignment and how to use that awareness as a tool for transition preparation, no matter where you are in your career.Transition Group Breakdown• Close Range Group (transition within 1 year):Tip: Alignment with Future Identity, Not a Perfect Job TitleExplanation: When transition is close, clarity matters more than panic, and emotional steadiness helps you move intentionally into the next chapter.• Medium Range Group (transition in 3 to 5 years):Tip: Begin Mapping 3 LanesExplanation: This period gives you time to build skills, education, and identity outside the uniform so your options expand instead of collapse.• Long Range Group (transition a decade or more away):Tip: Protect Your Identity from Becoming One-Dimensional.Explanation: Early habits in health, identity, and personal development protect you from becoming defined by a single role later in life. This episode helps you understand that misalignment is not failure. It is information. And when you listen to it early, transition becomes a choice, not a crisis. The best podcast for military veterans, police officers, firefighters, and first responders preparing for veteran transition and life after service. In this episode of The Jason Cavness Experience, Jason sits down with Curt Maier. A U.S. Military Veteran, nuclear submarine reactor operator, engineer, and now M&A focused business leader who buys, builds, and transforms companies using a systems-driven mindset forged under extreme pressure. Curt shares what it was really like working on nuclear submarine reactors, how the Navy shaped his discipline and problem-solving, and why the engineering habits he learned underwater still guide every business decision he makes today. Jason and Curt dive into the lessons from nuclear operations that apply directly to leadership, M&A strategy, business turnarounds, systems thinking, and running companies in the real world. Curt explains how he evaluates businesses, what founders usually get wrong, and why Veterans often make exceptional operators and acquirers. This episode blends military intensity, engineering precision, and entrepreneurial execution a rare combination and an incredibly valuable one. Topics Discussed: • What it's actually like to serve aboard nuclear submarines • The mindset required to operate and maintain nuclear reactors • How nuclear engineering habits translate directly into business leadership • The transition from military engineering to entrepreneurship • How Curt evaluates companies for acquisition • What most business buyers overlook during due diligence • Systems thinking: the common link between reactors and businesses • Why Veterans excel at M&A, operations, and turnarounds • Curt's career path from submariner → engineer → founder → acquirer • The realities of buying and fixing businesses • Lessons from high-stakes decision-making • The future of engineering, leadership, and Veteran entrepreneurship • Curtis' advice for Veterans considering acquisition entrepreneurship Support CavnessHR Help Build the Future of Small Business HR CavnessHR is creating an AI-native HR system built specifically for small businesses with 49 or fewer employees combining automation with a dedicated HR Business Partner. I did! A very successful Businessman, former Secretary of Revenue of Pennsylvania, and now, as U.S. Congressman, Dan has strongly served his Community with a career “loaded up” with accolades and wins. In Congress, he is working hard to Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Champion American Energy DOMINANCE, Keep our now very Secure Border, SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Strengthen our Military/Veterans, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment. Dan Meuser has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” Congressman Meuser also discusses his experience working alongside Mikie Sherill in the House of Representatives—she's no moderate: “I don't really associate with her that much because—what's the point? Jeffries said no—and then quickly changed the subject.
The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Show (11/03/2025): 3:05pm- Polling data suggests that enthusiasm for Jack Ciattarelli's campaign to be the next governor of New Jersey is at a whopping 91%! Is there similar enthusiasm for Mikie Sherrill? It doesn't seem like it. Over the weekend, former President Barack Obama attended a campaign rally for Sherrill drawing only 3,000 people. Rich notes that a comparable number of Ciattarelli supporters gathered at the Wildwood boardwalk last month—even though there wasn't a former president boosting turnout. 3:30pm- KC Crosbie—Co-Chair of the Republican National Committee—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to preview Election Day in New Jersey. Crosbie believes that if Republican voters get out and vote, Jack Ciattarelli will be the next governor of NJ. 3:40pm- During a discussion with progressive podcaster Brian Tyler Cohen, Bill Maher said of Zohran Mamdani's likely mayoral win: "He definitely has the power and influence to elect JD Vance, or whoever is the Republican candidate next time. It is a walking commercial for the Republican Party, nationally." 3:50pm- New York Governor Kathy Hochul suggested that Zohran Mamdani cannot fund his agenda because she won't agree to massive tax increases. 4:00pm- Congressman Dan Meuser—Representative for Pennsylvania's 9th Congressional District—joins The Rich Zeoli Show and reacts to President Donald Trump's big endorsement on Truth Social. She's constantly criticizing Joe Biden, accusing him of making the 2024 election all about himself, and cursing up a storm! Is she attempting to be authentic and likable? It seems to be failing. 6:00pm- California Governor Gavin Newsom continues to defend Joe Biden's performance as president, George Clooney defends his outsized role in replacing Biden as the 2024 Democratic presidential candidate, and former CIA Director John Brennan loses his mind after being confronted about his inaccurate claim that the Hunter Biden laptop was merely Russian disinformation. 6:15pm- Tonight, President Donald Trump is holding a “tele-rally” for Jack Ciattarelli. 6:30pm Penn State Basketball!
