The Sherpas Podcast has been around since 2017, and we've had the privilege of interviewing dozens of amazing youth pastors and legends over the years. So it was nice to have the tables turn toward us for a change. We were invited to be guests on the Momentum Ministry Partners Podcast with Eric Miller. Brock couldn't make it, but Shannon and Steve had a great conversation about why we love youth ministry, youth pastors, and students. We thought we'd share it here just for fun. Alex grew up loving and cherishing his local church family. As he grew in relationship to Christ, he sensed God was calling him to serve the global Church. In this episode, we discuss Alex's first steps serving his local church and then his first steps serving the Church around the world. With a summer in Birmingham serving at Oikos church and then a summer praying in new nations GEM is pursuing, we break down the lessons Alex learned. We then talk about the faith it requires to allow God's mission to be the focus of the church. “It is not so much the case that God has a mission for his church in the world, as that God has a church for his mission in the world. Mission was not made for the church; the church was made for mission – God's mission."― Christopher J.H. The Uniqueness of Christian SufferingSpring Lake Church – Bellevue CampusApril 6–8, 2025Teacher: Arlen ChastainIn this powerful message from Romans 8:18–28, Pastor Arlen Chastain explores the deep tension between present suffering and future glory. Suffering is universal—but Christian suffering is unique. Why? Because it is anchored in three unshakable truths:The Promise of Redemption Gives HopeThe Presence of the Holy Spirit Gives StrengthThe Purpose of God Gives ConfidenceWhether you're groaning under the weight of hardship or walking with someone who is, this sermon will remind you that God is at work in all things for the good of those who love Him.

Kristian Morris, aka Kmo, has spent multiple summers serving with Greater Europe Mission. Over time, Kmo noticed a trend not just with GEM, but with mission agencies as a whole...less than 3% of global workers are ethnic minorities. This empowered Kmo to learn the "why?" behind this statistic, myths facing ethnic minorities going on mission, and what we as believers can do about it. Listen to learn more about Kmo's powerful testimony, his music, and his perspective on how God can leverage our ethnic backgrounds for the Kingdom of Christ worldwide. Doug and Lisa Mitts have a heart for everyone to be one with Christ. Both developed a heart for the persecuted and restricted church in Eastern Europe during communism. They have been serving in Europe ever since. In this episode, we discuss the power of "knowing the Spirit", sharing our faith, and why it's necessary for believers to practice sharing the gospel. This conversation is packed with practical advice on how to engage with the lost. It will leave you encouraged and empowered to take a step of faith toward the uncomfortable and the unknown. We begin in Acts 27 where we see Paul's journey to Rome starting with a storm brewing in the Mediterranean Sea. An ill-advised decision to leave a port on the Island of Crete to find a safer harbor where they can spend the winter endangers 276 lives. A severe storm blows in threatening the safety of the ship and of every passenger. An angel appeared before Saul one night assuring him of safety of the ship and of every passenger. Paul told everyone saying, “Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.” From Acts 27 we look at Matthew 14 and learn lessons from the disciples as they face their own storm on the Sea of Galilee.
