At the beginning of His public ministry, Jesus entered the synagogue in Nazareth and read from Isaiah's prophecy, declaring that He had come to proclaim good news, bind up the brokenhearted, set captives free, and announce the Lord's favor. In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reflects on Isaiah's promise that the Messiah would give His people “a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.” This garment of praise is not something we are born wearing—it is a gift we must choose to put on. Praise does no good hanging in the closet of theory. It must be wrapped around the heart through gratitude, worship, and daily surrender to Christ. Dr. Youssef reminds us that true praise flows like a river from a heart that remembers God's goodness. Though God has given us countless reasons to praise Him, we must still participate. We must choose the praise-filled life, rejecting despair and fixing our eyes on Jesus. In Christ, sadness can be exchanged for gladness, despair for praise, sorrow for healing, and discouragement for hope. As we praise the name of Jesus, the cloud of discouragement begins to lift, and God supplies strength for the weary. Those who hope in Him will soar on wings like eagles, run and not grow weary, and walk and not faint. Prayer: Lord, thank You for providing me with the garment of praise through Christ Jesus. There is nothing wrong with bringing your needs and petitions before God. But in today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reminds believers that when prayer does not begin with worship and adoration, we miss the transforming power of time spent in God's presence. Dr. Youssef shares four blessings of the praise-filled life. First, praise reveals our true spiritual condition, because Jesus said the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. When we praise God for His salvation, we are declaring our trust in the Gospel and our confidence that we belong to Him. Second, praise reinforces our personal destiny. When we focus only on earthly troubles, we lose sight of our royal position as co-heirs with Christ. But when we bless the Lord daily for who He is and what He has done, our hearts are lifted from present problems to eternal glory. Third, praise reestablishes God's reign in our hearts. Psalm 22 tells us that God is enthroned on the praises of His people. When we praise His name, character, and attributes, we proclaim, “You are my sovereign authority. You are my King.” Finally, praise reinforces our relationship with the Lord. Worship turns our eyes away from self-centeredness and back to the greatness of God's grace. As we dwell on His strength, mercy, and unchanging love, we grow in humility, joy, and usefulness for His Kingdom. Pray with me. In this message, Mike explores one of the most striking moments in Jesus' final hours with his disciples -- his deliberate choice to redefine their relationship from servants to friends. Drawing from John 15, the sermon unpacks what it means that Jesus, the Lord of all creation, extended the title of "friend" to his followers. Mike challenges the congregation to move beyond a purely transactional or performance-based faith and into the deep, loyal, and sacrificial friendship that Jesus modeled through his death. Using the biblical definition of love from 1 Corinthians 13 as the foundation, the sermon argues that true friendship with Jesus requires choosing his value system over the world's, holding fast to conviction while remaining relationally engaged with those who do not yet know him.Read John 15:12-17Jesus does not merely tolerate your presence -- he chooses you. In John 15, he draws a striking line between servants and friends, and then deliberately places you on the friend side of that line. A servant follows orders without understanding the master's heart. A friend is brought into confidence, trusted with purpose, and loved with loyalty. This was not a casual invitation. It was spoken on the eve of the cross, which means it cost something. Sit with this today: the God who spoke the universe into existence looked at you and said, you are my friend. Jacob has spent much of his life running from the consequences of his choices and grasping for the future he wants. On the night before he must face Esau, Jacob is left alone beside the Jabbok River, where he wrestles with God until daybreak. Jacob cannot overpower or outmaneuver God. Wounded and unable to rely upon his old strength, he can only remain in the struggle and hold on. There, God asks Jacob to name himself honestly and then gives him a new name before reconciliation is complete. Jacob leaves Peniel without an explanation, but with a blessing, a limp, and the assurance that his past does not determine who he is becoming. This sermon reflects on the courage to stop running, remain with God through uncertainty, and take the next faithful step before we feel fully ready. Like Jacob, we may not be able to control what waits on the other side of the river, but we can trust that God's grace has already met us in the night.

What is the ultimate purpose of being adopted as a child of God? In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef explains that while salvation, forgiveness, justification, and cleansing are all glorious gifts of grace, they point toward an even greater promise: the inheritance of the glory of God for the glory of God. Romans 8 declares that believers are children of God, heirs of God, and co-heirs with Christ. Everything Jesus Christ receives by divine right, believers receive by divine grace. For the adopted child of God, eternal inheritance is not wishful thinking—it is guaranteed by the Spirit and secured by the finished work of Christ. Dr. Youssef also points to Paul's bold declaration: “to die is gain.” For the believer, physical death is not defeat but entrance into the presence of God and the fullness of the Father's estate. The suffering, loss, rejection, disappointment, shattered dreams, and pain we experience now cannot compare with the glory that will one day be revealed in us. Whatever is making you groan today, God is not wasting it. The Spirit of God is sealing your adoption, guaranteeing your inheritance, and turning your groaning into glory. Discover the latest economic update. Second-quarter GDP grew at a slower-than-expected annual rate of 1.5%, but much of the weakness came from temporary factors like lower inventories and reduced government spending rather than a broad slowdown in the private economy. Consumer spending remained strong, inflation continued to ease on a monthly basis, and private-sector demand was robust. While the Federal Reserve is still waiting for inflation to move closer to its 2% target before cutting rates, the underlying economic picture remains healthier than the headline GDP number suggests. Key Takeaways GDP grew 1.5% in the second quarter, below expectations. Consumer spending accelerated to 2.1%, showing continued economic resilience. Final sales to private domestic purchasers rose a strong 3.9%, highlighting solid underlying demand. Core PCE inflation eased to 0.1% for the month but remains 3.3% year-over-year, above the Fed's target. The Fed is likely to remain patient on interest rates until inflation shows more sustained improvement. God's love for His children is deeper than we can fully comprehend. In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reminds believers that God not only redeemed us for eternity, but He also walks with us through every season of life—comforting, protecting, delivering, and sustaining us. Before the foundation of the world, God knew His people by name. He orchestrated every detail of our lives, opened our eyes to His great salvation, and gave us the Holy Spirit to teach us, guide us, and remind us of Christ's words. Yet when trouble comes, many pray as though God must be persuaded to care, failing to remember the depth of His love already displayed at the cross. Dr. Youssef warns that too many believers live beneath their spiritual privileges. Instead of standing on God's promises, they surrender to fear, anxiety, and discouragement. But the child of God has access to the limitless resources of heaven. We are not powerless, and we are never alone. When trials come, the Holy Spirit strengthens us, the Word of God guides us, and the presence of Christ surrounds us. Our hope is not rooted in human ability or favorable circumstances, but in the unchanging character of our faithful Savior, who has already won the victory through His death and resurrection. As Christians, we can turn to God with confidence, knowing we are His beloved children, and pray:  Lord, we both know that I'm in trouble, but I know Your Word says, “Do not let your hearts be troubled” (John 14:1). I am confident that You have already blessed me with every spiritual blessing. You have given me all the strength I need to face these problems. I know that You are walking with me and that You promised never to leave me nor forsake me (Hebrews 13:5). I thank You for hearing my concerns and for providing a solution. The Letters I Never Expected to Receive Some creative works quietly continue long after we've finished making them. According to Scripture, each of us were actually “in” Adam when he went rogue and sinned in the Garden of Eden. According to the laws of inherited genetics, we were there—inside him—when he did the dastardly deed. Today's culture tells us that self-image, self-esteem, self-acceptance, and self-fulfillment are the keys to happiness. But in today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef explains that placing the self at the center is like drinking salt water—the more we consume, the thirstier we become. True contentment does not come from self-fulfillment. It comes from discovering the treasure house Jesus Christ opens to all who surrender their lives to Him. Paul declares that God has blessed believers “in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” In Jesus, we receive the only source of authentic worth, lasting contentment, deep joy, and true fulfillment. Dr. Youssef reminds us that many Christians live as though they are spiritually impoverished while possessing immeasurable riches in Christ. We search the world for significance, approval, and satisfaction, forgetting that God has already deposited every blessing necessary for victorious living into our spiritual account. In Christ, you are forgiven, adopted, redeemed, and eternally secure. No achievement, relationship, possession, or worldly pursuit can compare with the eternal riches found in Him. As you walk closely with Christ and fix your mind on heavenly treasures, you will discover the fullness of joy that cannot be shaken by changing circumstances.
