If you're a parent, your children need you to be an adult with well-regulated emotions and integrity in your relationships and responsibilities. Today, Pastor Dan will challenge parents to follow Biblical guidance and wisdom in how they treat their children. You're going to have to say “no” sometimes, and you're going to have to discipline at times. It's a crucial element in loving your child and raising them in a way that enables them to have a meaningful life that honors God and respects others.

Acts 24:1-9 | 06.14.2026
Romans 8 is a profound passage of Scripture. It addresses a multitude of related issues from suffering to sanctification to the perfect plan of God. There are significant theological (soteriological) truths here, and there are some simple, but no less profound, truths related to comfort in both painful and joyful circumstances. Pastor Dan walks us through all of it in this sermon.
Satan is the father of lies. His lies are usually subtle, making them easier for well-meaning people to swallow. But, as Pastor Dan will remind us in today's message, God does not change. He's the same yesterday, today, and forever. He doesn't bend to the whims of our culture. He created humanity, and our design and the laws that govern us are not dependent on how we feel. When we come to Him in repentance, we have to acknowledge that He alone holds this place of sovereignty.
Are we obedient to God even when others aren't looking? In Sunday's sermon "Joy in the Fire", Pastor Dan challenges believers to anchor their perspective in Christ rather than in their circumstances. This message encourages a return to intimate discipleship by contrasting the modern obsession with megachurch success against the Wesleyan model of small groups. Pastor Dan uses the biblical account of the Road to Emmaus to illustrate how Jesus prioritized personal, transformative encounters over large crowds. By emphasizing the historical Methodist structure of societies, classes, and bands, the text argues that true spiritual growth occurs in small, honest gatherings of three to five people. These "bands" serve as a spiritual chrysalis where participants practice radical vulnerability and mutual accountability to foster authentic faith. Ultimately, the message calls for a broader kingdom impact achieved through deep, localized investment rather than pursuing numerical bigness for its own sake.

Send us Fan MailWhat happens when religion stops seeing people as people and starts using them as ammunition? In this sermon, Pastor Dan uses the story of the woman caught in adultery to confront one of the cruelest habits of modern Christianity: turning vulnerable people into talking points, culture-war targets, and proof texts for someone else's agenda. But Jesus refuses to play that game. When the religious crowd drags a woman into the center to make a point, Jesus sees what they refuse to see: a human being. Not a prop. Not a scandal. Not a sermon illustration. Not ammunition. This message is a call back to the heart of Jesus, a Jesus who stands between the accused and the accusers, between the vulnerable and the stones, between the person being used and the people using them.Because if people cannot find mercy, grace, and hope in our communities, whatever else we are defending, we are not defending it in the way of Jesus.#HarvestSarasota #HumanAmmunition #ProgressiveChristianity #PastorDan #InclusiveChurch #FaithWithoutFear #John8 #JesusAndMercy #PeopleAreNotProps #StopDehumanizingPeople #LGBTQAffirmingChurch #ImmigrantJustice #ReligiousTrauma #FaithAfterHarm #MercyOverMorality #CultureWarChristianity #Deconstruction #Exvangelical #JesusNotEmpire #NoMoreStones #LoveYourNeighbor #ProgressiveFaith Support the showHarvest is a fully affirming, inclusive (including the LGBTQ+ community) progressive Christian church located in Sarasota, Florida.Follow us on Social Media:Instagram - Instagram.com/harvestsarasotaFacebook - Facebook.com/harvestsarasotaTikTok CLICK HEREDONATE to support our podcast HERERecorded live at Harvest Church in Sarasota by Michael Thomas Regina and Stephen Lehman of Boardtown Creative

This week, Pastor Dan and Pastor Joe discuss Joe's best weekly investment/pastime, talk about how we see Jesus in the story of Samson and throughout the Old Testament, and delve deeper into this week's sermon, "Victorious in Defeat." Also sorry John.....
Pastor Dan teaches through Psalms 73, focusing on the struggle of seeing wicked people prosper while those who follow God suffer. He explains that Asaph nearly loses his footing because he becomes consumed with envy and frustration, questioning whether following God is even worth it. Everything changes when Asaph enters God's presence and gains an eternal perspective, realizing that earthly success is temporary while God's justice and goodness are eternal. Dan encourages believers to bring their honest doubts and frustrations to God, but not to remain focused on their circumstances. Instead, he calls Christians to lift their eyes to God's character, trust His timing and justice, and find their hope in His presence rather than in comfort, success, or circumstances. Ultimately, the sermon reminds believers that even when life is difficult and unfair, God Himself is their greatest treasure, their refuge, and their portion forever.
In this episode, Pastor Dan explores the idea of being "hero makers": people who, shaped by Christ's victory, are called to make disciples rather than seek personal glory. Using Matthew 28, Acts 1, and Romans 12, the message urges listeners to undergo a slow, daily transformation—renewing their minds, embracing sacrificial living, and multiplying Christ's work by investing in others.
Jesus should be the center of your life. When you give your life to Him, it should be evident in how you live your new life. There should be a difference. The sins of the world that used to have a hold on you shouldn't anymore. Today, Pastor Dan will point out how the feasts in the Old Testament that Israel was commanded to observe were a huge part of their life. They took effort and commitment, and they pointed to Jesus. They were such big events because Jesus should be equally as important to you in your life.

"The truth will set you free." - John 8:32, one of the Bible's most famous verses. Pastor Dan Rude explains what Jesus means and how he can offer such freedom. In this message, Pastor Dan will discuss the reality of false believers, the marks of true believers, what it means to be enslaved to sin, and how, in Christ, we are offered true freedom.

The feasts and laws of sacrifice in the Old Testament that Israel was to follow all pointed miraculously to Jesus thousands of years later. What the Israelites were commanded to do would all make sense one day when Jesus came to die for your sins as the perfect law-fulfilling sacrifice. In today's message, Pastor Dan will take you through the symbolism behind those Old Testament traditions that might not be so clear until you learn how they connect to Jesus. Jesus was the fulfillment of all the Old Testament laws.
Israel was told to be generous. They were told to be different than the world around them by how they conducted themselves each day. They were never to stray from God or His ways. In today's message, Pastor Dan wants you to know that all the rules and regulations God put on Israel were for their good. They would be greatly blessed by God for following His laws, and they would forfeit those blessings if they turned their back on Him. That's how it is for you today, too. God wants you to follow His Word.
Acts 23:12-22 | 05.31.2026
What God's Word says is what you should follow. Regardless of what research or modern doctrine says about anything in the Bible being irrelevant or out of date, God said it for a reason. He wants the best for His people, and He wants you to live a blessed life in Him. In today's message, Pastor Dan's going to encourage you to seek out God's Will for you in the Bible, and to live it out. If you call yourself a Christian, you need to know God's laws so you can follow them. He wants you to be committed fully to Him.

Pastor Dan reflects on Romans 12:1-2 and launches the "Hero Makers" series, encouraging listeners to notice and nurture God's work in others. He shares his personal journey of calling from childhood curiosity to vocational ministry, illustrating how God often uses ordinary moments and people to shape leaders. The episode invites listeners to listen for God's voice, discern callings, and become hero makers who recognize, encourage, and support spiritual growth in their communities.
When you give your life to Christ, your study time should include the Bible and listening to people who preach the Bible. Anything else shouldn't be in your life. It could cause you to stumble in your faith. Or worse, it could lead to you going down a path of eventual rejection of God. In today's message, Pastor Dan is going to warn you against false religions and false prophets. You need to be on your guard against any teaching that's contrary to Scripture, so you don't become deceived by any of it.

What does genuine Christian community actually look like?In this episode of 2414, Pastor Dan and Shane continue the conversation on St. Luke's 1-2-3 Challenge by focusing on “Gather: In Life Together.” From learning names and sharing meals to building trust through ordinary conversation, they explore why Christian fellowship is formed through consistent, everyday presence — not just major life moments. The episode moves from personal highs and lows, parenting struggles, and an absurd “Wheels vs. Doors” trivia game into a deeper discussion on friendship, vulnerability, and why modern Christianity can drift toward isolation and individualism.Drawing from Dietrich Bonhoeffer's Life Together, the conversation emphasizes that meaningful relationships are usually built slowly:“We share names before we share burdens. We share the boring parts of life before we share the big things.”Topics include:• Why the mundane matters in friendship• Introverts, extroverts, and practical connection steps• Why consistency builds trust• The danger of isolated Christianity• Summer Nights, meals, check-ins, and shared rhythms• How “training wheels” habits help create real community• Building belonging through ordinary life togetherThe 1-2-3 Challenge invites every person at St. Luke's to take two intentional steps in each of three discipleship areas:Gather.
