On this International Life Child Day, join Pastor Bruce as he teaches on the importance of taking Jesus's hand like Peter and allowing Him to be our guide. Celebrate International Life Child day with us as well. Visit our website for more info: https://lifechild.org.za/ Lamentations 3:22-24 (NKJV)"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. 'The Lord is my portion,' says my soul, 'Therefore I hope in Him!'"One of the most powerful moments in the Gospels is Peter stepping out of the boat in faith toward Jesus. When fear caused him to sink, Jesus immediately reached out and lifted him. How often have we felt like we're sinking—before Christ and even in faith? Yet, in His mercy, He takes our hand.Romans 5:8 (NIV)"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."He lifts us from despair and sets us on solid ground.Psalms 40:2 (NKJV)"He brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps."The right hand of God represents:Power, trust, and securityRescue, victory, and favorStrength, authority, and promiseJesus now sits at the right hand of the Father, and He calls us to extend our hands to others.Acts 3:6-8 (NLT)Peter, taking the lame man by the right hand, lifted him up—and he was healed! We are saved by faith and led by faith. Jesus was always the first to reach out—so let's be His hands and feet in the world.
Pastor Bruce Frank from Biltmore Church joins us on Live Sent Sunday to answer the question, “What does the Bible say about boldness?” He challenges us to share the gospel with boldness following the example of the early church. We usually think of the church as a place, but the Book of Acts shows that the church is a movement designed for a mission. The early church was built on a conviction that Jesus died and rose again for our sins and had sent His followers to proclaim the good news of the gospel. The danger of the church at any time is to go from a missional movement into maintenance mode. If you're part of a movement, you're moving, not standing still! The message of the gospel has not changed in the over 2,000 years since Jesus died and rose again, and neither has the manner in which we communicate the gospel. The single term that best describes the manner in which God wants His gospel given is boldness, which is defined as “clear communication in the face of potential opposition. Acts 4:23-31 details the boldness with which the apostles declared the gospel. In the face of great opposition, they continued testifying about who Jesus is and what He had done for all sinners. Pastor Bruce gives 3 lessons we can draw from the example of the apostles' boldness: 1.) Rest in the sovereignty of God. 2.) Share in the story of God. 3.) Be filled with the Spirit of God. God is always working around you, drawing people to Himself. He creates interest, convicts, convinces, and invites us into the story. He invites us to be fully dependent on Him and wants to use us to boldly declare the truth of His gospel! We often renegotiate what "all" means–we think it means "when I feel like it," "when I can see the benefit of it," "when I want to," or "when I'm not otherwise engaged." Looking at Mark 12:30, Pastor Bruce shows us that all means all and that in order to love God with all our hearts, some things have to go, some things have to change, and some things have to be embraced.
