This Sunday we follow last week's passage in Colossians and find Paul's request for his readers to pray for him. Pastor Blair teaches about intercessory prayer and provides us with ways to practice and grow in praying for one another.
How powerful are your prayers? Learning to pray for the Kingdom of Heaven to become reality in the lives of those we love...and our own. "Open a door for the word...SO THAT...we would speak the mystery of Christ."
Ever been so devoted to something that you have done some crazy dumb stuff just to accomplish it? Well Paul is saying why not be devoted to seeing people know Christ through the word by devoting ourselves to prayer.
When we pray for people, we STAND IN THE GAP with them, 2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3 And pray for us, too, Colossians 4:2-3a 29 The people of the land practice extortion and commit robbery; they oppress the poor and needy and mistreat the foreigner, denying them justice. 30 “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one. 31 So I will pour out my wrath on them and consume them with my fiery anger, bringing down on their own heads all they have done, declares the Sovereign LORD.” Ezekiel 22:29-31 We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,4 because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all God’s people— Colossians 1:3-4 So he said he would destroy them— had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him to keep his wrath from destroying them. Psalm 106:23 so they can STAND IN THE GAP for others. 3 that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Colossians 4:3b-4 7 When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. 8 So they passed by Mysia and went down to Troas. 9 During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. Acts 16:7-10

We all know that prayer is important, but quite honestly, we don't often feel very good at it. It is easy to dismiss it, or see it only as a last resort. In this message we will see that praying is possible if we know the right way, and commit ourselves to trusting the one we pray too.
God wants us to be persistent in prayer for our missionaries.
Jesus taught us to pray and modeled prayer for us. Yet, many believers struggle with praying consistently. In this message, Dr. Brian Kinlaw offers up some simple yet effective steps to developing and maintaining an effective prayer life.
