Souvenirs d'une jeunesse en Amazonie En 1979, Irène a 24 ans. Elle a tout pour être heureuse et pourtant... Elle part avec des carnets, un enregistreur et un appareil photo à l'autre bout du monde tel qu'elle le connaît déjà. Direction l'Amazonie péruvienne, chez le peuple maihuna. Elle y passera 5 ans, à se perdre, à s'oublier, à se faire peur et surtout à se trouver une raison d'être et de vivre. De cette époque, elle a tout enregistré : les cérémonies d'ayahuasca, la forêt mélodieuse, l'apprentissage de la langue maihunki aujourd'hui presque disparue, la rencontre pas à pas avec celles et ceux qui voudront bien d'elle et finiront même par l'aimer, les contes et mythologies oubliés et la mélancolie d'être si loin des siens parfois. Pourquoi et comment est-elle partie, pourquoi et comment est-elle revenue ? J'ai grandi avec ces questions. Et si je connais très bien l'Irène d'ici qui est aussi ma mère, j'ai toujours rêvé de rencontrer l'Irène de la Jungle.
