After juggling the loss of her mother and raising young children in her early 20's, Kate found herself struggling with anxiety and feelings of overwhelm. Finding a regular yoga and breathwork practice, it became a key component, along with therapy, healing, and rebuilding a new way of navigating life. As a dancer in her childhood, yoga and the movements felt comforting and familiar and challenged Kate to remain in the present. Additionally, Kate found yoga a saving grace to return to after having five surgeries within nine months. It's been over 20 years now, and since then, Kate has raised her kids and spent more than 15 decades working in community clinics and private practice centering around Women's health. Now a Doula, Kate continues to integrate yoga's benefits in body and mind into her work. Personally, Kate loves to practice a wide range of classes from Ashtanga to Restorative, Vinyasa, to Kundalini to Yin. As a teacher, Kate plans to specialize in Power and Mixed Level Vinyasa Flows, Prenatal Yoga, and Yoga for people recovering from breast and ovarian cancer surgeries, emphasizing meditation and visualization.
Nicki began her yoga journey four years ago while an undergraduate in New York City looking for an escape from the stress culture of academia and the busyness of the city. Yoga has been a part of Patricia's life for many years on a professional level, having been a dedicated Occupational Therapist teaching life skills for the past 15 years in homeless and domestic violence shelters throughout NYC. She had the opportunity to witness the benefits the classes volunteer yogis offered. She saw the power yoga & meditation had to uplift one's day or to change one's state of mind from anxious to calm and overall improving the lives of others living in difficult environments. She often promoted both as a means to cope and manage stress. Along with the notion of proper self-care and gaining mind, body, spirit balance for an improved quality of life, without necessarily employing these principles into her own, rather immersing herself in her work and increasingly feeling more imbalanced. During this YTT journey, Patricia opened her heart and gifted herself the opportunity to recharge through self-care and to practice what she has been preaching to her clients over the years. Tune in to learn more of her beautiful journey of transformation and her quest for more balance.
After practicing yoga on and off for many years, Sara found herself at a standstill in 2019 after a back injury, during which she couldn't continue practicing for several months. That period of stagnation only made her goals of practicing and one day teaching yoga that much stronger. Once she healed at the start of 2020, she knew this was the year where she would take the leap into yoga teacher training. Her speciality has come to focus on yin yoga and stretching, to help those with stress and anxiety find a healthy outlet for tension release, as well as those who have sore muscles or injuries, including athletes. Sara's teaching is aimed at stress and anxiety reduction especially for those who, like her, have battled anxiety and are ready to take a chance on yoga. One day, she hopes to teach corporate yoga classes to help the working world take a collective deep breath. Here's her story!
