That same day Wexford Youths FC were also presented with the April award - they won the voting for that month after an impressive run of form in the League of Ireland 1st Division. Friday night saw almost 7,000 people turn out in support of one of the greatest hurlers in a generation. The Ken McGrath All-Star Challenge took place in Walsh Park as a Leinster All-Star team featuring the likes of Eddie Brennan and Damian Fitzhenry, defeat a Munster side which included Tipp's Brendan Cummins, and a Waterford full-forward line of Mullane, Flynn and Shanahan. All the proceeds went to the Ken McGrath Rehabilitation Fund which was set up after Ken underwent major heart surgery in April.
