The conversation shifts to U.S. politics, where Lawler shares his thoughts on government involvement in industry, flag burning legislation, the criminal justice system, and public safety in New York City. Lawler criticizes politicians like Andrew Cuomo and Kathy Hochul and endorses Curtis Sliwa for mayor, citing Sliwa's rise in the polls and his potential to positively impact New York City. Lawler also emphasizes the need for a strong Congressional presence and suggests Elise Stefanik's candidacy for New York Governor in 2026. Learn more about your ad choices. Here's another one of Liza's favorites from the archives, daredevil Debbie Lawler. When Debbie beat Even Knievel's jumping record in February 1974 at the age if 21, the American press was riveted. While there had been a handful of women who raced motorcycles there hadn't been any female daredevils professionally jumping them - much-less upstaging the brashest stunt rider of the era on national TV. Newspapers labeled her the "female Evel Knievel," a "motorcycle madam" and "tigress on a cycle." We talk to her about how she got into jumping, how she got out and how awesome her dad was.
Fr. Michael Rennier on how to have an outsized impact, Phil Williams discusses Vatican ll's effect on church attendance, and Cameron Ellis on the Knights of Columbus recruitment drive.

New York Congressman Mike Lawler sits down with Margaret Hoover to discuss his approach to legislating as one of only three Republicans in the House representing a district Kamala Harris won in 2024 and why he believes his Democratic-leaning constituents should reelect him next year.Lawler, who recently ruled out a run for governor, talks about defending his record at often rowdy town halls and highlights instances where he has stood up to the Trump administration. He also explains how he has succeeded in advancing his district's priorities, like raising the cap on the state and local tax deduction in Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill.Lawler, chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee's Middle East and Africa Subcommittee, responds to Trump's criticism of Israel over starvation in Gaza and lays out his view of the conflict. He also comments on declining support for Israel in the U.S., particularly among younger Americans.Lawler defends the OBBBA's Medicaid provisions and disputes projections of the bill's costs. He also reacts to controversy over Texas Republicans trying to redraw congressional maps mid-decade–which has led Democrats in his state to threaten to do the same–and makes the case for banning partisan redistricting nationwide.Support for Firing Line with Margaret Hoover is provided by Robert Granieri, The Tepper Foundation, Vanessa and Henry Cornell, The Fairweather Foundation, and Pritzker Military Foundation.
On Wednesday's Mark Levin Show, Zohran Mamdani recently returned from a lavish, expensive wedding in Uganda featuring a walled estate and armed guards, funded by capitalists rather than the government. He portrays himself as the victim while yelling at Andrew Cuomo and Eric Adams. Don't believe a word Mamdani says, he would defund the police and disarm the citizen. Rep Mike Lawler calls in to discuss limousine liberal, trust fund baby Mamdani. Lawler warns that Mamdani becoming mayor of New York City would undermine safety and well-being, harming the city and country. Later, in On Power there were early debates among Hamilton, Madison, and Jefferson on interpreting the U.S. Constitution. Despite Hamilton's role in authoring the Federalist Papers to promote ratification and his advocacy for a strong national government, he proposed ideas like lifetime Senate and presidential terms, which were rejected. Afterward, David Friedman joins the show to express alarm at the unprecedented levels of anti-Semitism and hatred toward Israel, which is worsening monthly and fueled by media misinformation, such as the New York Times falsely portraying a congenitally ill child as starving due to Israel. Also, recognizing Palestine as a state incentivizes Hamas to continue without concessions, making hostage releases harder despite pleas from families. Finally, Steve Hilton calls in to discuss his run for California Governor and Kamala Harris' announcement that she won't run for Governor. Learn more about your ad choices. Send us a textWhat does it mean to glorify God with your body? In a world of distorted freedom and personal truth, this message from 1 Corinthians 6 offers a bold, beautiful vision of sex, identity, and the sacredness of our bodies.-------In 1 Corinthians 6:12–20, Paul confronts the Corinthian church's confusion about sexuality, freedom, and the human body. Surrounded by a culture steeped in immorality, these early believers needed a fresh understanding of what it meant to glorify God with their bodies. This sermon explores Paul's warning against twisting Christian liberty, rationalizing sin, and misusing what God calls sacred. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and purchased at a high price. Believers are called to flee sexual immorality, not just avoid it, and live into their redeemed identity. Because in Christ, our freedom isn't for self-indulgence, but for a sacred purpose.HOME | PLAN YOUR VISIT | BLOG | DIGITAL BULLETIN

Blogger of “Like Mother, Like Daughter” Substack contributor, author, and podcaster Leila Lawler joins the Kolbecast to discuss the new book, “St. Hildegard's Garden: Recipes and Remedies for Healing Body and Soul.” Prompted by pharmaceutical shortages, Leila asked herself: “What did people do before ibuprofen?” Leila began researching and creating her own homeopathic remedies, drawing inspiration from St. Hildegard's work. Leila shares some of the most efficacious remedies she has tried, the flaws in the modern medical system, and what St. Hildegard can teach us about a healthy and whole-person approach to medicine and mental health. In this episode of Respect Life Radio, Deacon Geoff is joined by Leila Lawler to discuss the newly released book St. Hildegard's Garden: Recipes and Remedies for Healing Body and Soul by Paul Ferris. Together, they explore the rich tradition of homeopathic and natural medicine, contrasting it with the modern medical system. Drawing inspiration from the wisdom of St. Hildegard of Bingen, they reflect on how society approached health and illness a thousand years ago—and why many are now turning back to these age-old remedies. The conversation highlights how God's creation was designed for healing and care, emphasizing the deep connection between our physical health and spiritual well-being. Send us a textThe Prodigal Church #8What if being faithful meant becoming the “scum of the earth”? In this hard-hitting message, Paul flips the Corinthian view of ministry upside down—and it still challenges today's church.--------In a culture obsessed with platform and polish, Rev. Paul delivers a blistering correction to the Corinthian church's warped view of leadership. Drawing from 1 Corinthians 4:1–13, this sermon reveals that the true measure of a minister isn't charisma, applause, or even perceived effectiveness—it's faithfulness.Paul uses two powerful metaphors:A Steward — A servant who owns nothing and is judged only by the Master's standards, not public opinion.A Spectacle — A condemned prisoner paraded before the world, revealing that true apostleship often means public shame and deep suffering. He calls out premature judgment, prideful comparison, and flesh-driven favoritism. The world may call faithful ministers “fools,” but God calls them sons and daughters. The gospel turns ministry upside down—and if we're building on anything but Christ, we're not building well.HOME | PLAN YOUR VISIT | BLOG | DIGITAL BULLETIN

Send us a textThe Prodigal Church Pt. 7What are you really building? This message explores how believers become co-builders with Christ, learning how grace, unity, and Spirit-filled living form the only structure that can truly stand.--------In Unlocking the “How to” Guide for Building the Church, Pastor Paul Lawler unpacks 1 Corinthians 3:10–23 to show how the church is not just a gathering place, but a growing people. The message calls believers to be more than attendees—to be builders. Key applications include:Build on God's Grace: Your gifts are from Him, and they're for His glory.Build on the Foundation of Christ Alone: Not personalities, not popularity—only Jesus.Build with Materials That Last: Your work will be tested. Invest in eternal things.Build in Unity: The “you” in “you are God's temple” is plural—we build together.Be Filled with the Spirit: The true evidence of Spirit-filled living is fearlessness, love, power, and self-control.The call is clear: Don't just go to church. Be the Church. Build with intention, build on Christ, and build in step with the Spirit.HOME | PLAN YOUR VISIT | BLOG | DIGITAL BULLETIN
