Send a textWelcome back to another Class Chat. In this episode Will catches up with Claremorris Golf Club from Mayo who were victorious in the 2025 Pierce Purcell competition. On the call are Derek Reilly, Captain and 3 of the players, Tom Fanning Jnr, Rossa Higgins and Martin Murphy. Listen in as the lads bring us along their journey starting off with a tough opening match against long time rivals Castlebar and 4 other tough matches before winning the Connacht pennant in Athlone. Having played the Connacht final in Athlone they got their bit of luck as the All Ireland finals were also on in Athlone so maybe a bit more prep was done than other teams. But you still have to win 3 more matches to be crowned All Ireland Champions which they did with great victories over Jameson Links in the quarters, then Tramore in the semis and eventually overcoming a strong Cushendall team in the final. There are highs and lows and a Touch of Class from a Tramore Member along the way. Congratulations to this great bunch of lads. National Broadband Ireland (NBI), the company delivering the new future-proofed, high-speed Fibre-to-the-Home network under the National Broadband Plan (NBP) on behalf of the Government, has announced an exciting new partnership with GAA+, the GAA's live and on-demand streaming platform. GAA+ is offering a schedule of c.40 exclusive games for the Championship 2026 season, and those new customers ordering a broadband service on the NBI network before 31st March can receive an annual subscription pass valued at €95. By combining next?generation broadband infrastructure with modern sports broadcasting, the reward highlights how digital connectivity can bring local sporting moments to audiences right across rural Ireland and the GAA heartland. Jarlath Burns, GAA President, expressed his excitement at the launch of this partnership: "The GAA is rooted in every community in Ireland, regardless of its urban or rural setting. Making GAA+ as accessible and enjoyable as possible remains a consistent aim, and this new partnership with National Broadband Ireland clearly speaks to that ambition." "Our platform will once again provide a comprehensive live and exclusive broadcast schedule to supporters across web, connected TVs and apps throughout the Championship from Saturday, April 11th. Working closely with National Broadband Ireland will ensure thousands of our members can avail of enhanced connectivity in their area and look forward to coverage from Provincial Championship and All-Ireland series stages on any connected device in the comfort of their own home." The partnership forms part of NBI's wider efforts to enhance end-user experience and highlight the everyday benefits that high?speed broadband can bring to households and communities. Speaking of the announcement, T.J. Malone, Chief Executive Officer, National Broadband Ireland, said: "We are very proud to announce our partnership with GAA+, considering that both organisations have such a strong focus on community. NBI's rollout of high?speed broadband infrastructure into rural areas is creating new opportunities for families, clubs and supporters to stay connected – whether that is working, learning or watching their county team compete." "We see our partnership with GAA+ as a great way to support broadband take-up by giving new customers that order before the end of March, access to 40 exclusive streamed games." Mr Malone concluded: "We also believe watching the GAA+ games over the NBI network will enhance the streaming experience." More than 451,000 premises across Ireland can now order fibre broadband on the NBI network, with over 165,000 already having done so. The only way is up for the Cork footballers... The Echo Podcast looks at the Rebels' terrific start to the league after a third successive league victory leaves them in a strong position to gain promotion back to Division 1, bridging an 11-year gap.John Cleary's side were heavy favourites in Tullamore but haven't always handled that tag well, which allied to their inconsistency in recent years, meant the trip to Offaly was loaded with danger.A brilliant first half was crucial to the result, with Cork leading by nine points at the break, thanks in no small part to a Colm O'Callaghan brace of goals from midfield.A third green flag raised by Mark Cronin in the third quarter effectively sealed it but the hosts, despite being against the wind in the second half, battled until the end and had the gap down to five points at the finish.Ultimately, the result was all that mattered and it was never in doubt.Cork are at home to Meath in Páirc Uí Rinn next where a victory would be huge given the Royals are also unbeaten with three wins on the board. With genuine momentum, having won the McGrath Cup on Kerry turf in January, it's time for the supporters to get out in force for the Meath clash. The footballers deserve and need their backing. There's also a look back at the Sigerson Cup final where missed goal chances cost UCC though a handful of Leesiders in UL colours did collect the cup at Croke Park.On the hurling front, with the hurlers off until March 1, the podcast crew discuss the trends from the first three games, who from the extended squad deserves a go in the remaining matches and whether Ben O'Connor will continue to go all-in at every interview. His fiery approach is delighting the national media while also taking the heat off the Cork players who are still trying to escape the shadow of last year's All-Ireland final nightmare.Plus, after an excellent showing for UL in the Fitzgibbon Cup final where he was in contention for Man of the Match, is Jack Leahy hard done by not to be in the Cork hurling squad? Now in its fourth season, every week Éamonn Murphy is joined by The Echo team, including Barry O'Mahony, Denis Hurley, Rory Noonan, Jack McKay, John Horgan and more to discuss all the latest Cork GAA news on and off the field. We are going to pay tribute to Colum Flynn, a man who made an immense contribution to sport in County Clare. Colum played a big part in Clare's hurling successes as trainer in the 1970s – during which time they won back-to-back league titles in ‘77 and ‘78 - and, of course, the 1990s, when the Banner County achieved long-awaited All-Ireland glory in 1995. Colum also tasted All-Ireland success with the Cyril Farrell-managed Galway sides which won two All-Irelands in the late-'80s, as well as doing immense work within boxing in Clare. Colum is survived by his wife Kay, son Padraig, daughters Ciara, Sorcha, Aoife, Katie & Eilish, and extended family and friends. His reposal will take place this Thursday evening in Daly's Mortuary Chapel, Francis St., Ennis from 5:30 o'clock to 8 o'clock. Funeral Mass will be held in Ennis Cathedral at 11 0'clock, with burial afterwards in Drumcliffe Cemetery. To remember Colum Flynn, Alan Morrissey was joined by Fr Harry Bohan, Former Clare hurling manager, long-time friend and Tommy Lyons of Ennis Boxing Club.

439: Why Nutrition Advice Doesn't Work | Daniel Davey Part 2

In Part 2 of our conversation with performance nutritionist Daniel Davey, we go deeper into the psychology of behavior change and why traditional nutrition advice often fails. Daniel shares profound insights on coaching the person, not just the problem, and how childhood experiences shape our relationship with food. What You'll Learn:Daniel opens up about the influences that shaped his coaching approach—from his father's extraordinary listening skills to working with Jim Gavin and Dublin's five-in-a-row All-Ireland winning team. He reveals why the hardest part of his job isn't the nutrition science, but helping people realize they have the answers within themselves. We explore the complex relationship between identity, body image, and performance—including how male athletes struggle with body image in ways that often go unaddressed. Daniel shares vulnerable stories about his own journey and why sometimes athletes need a "boot in the hole" while others need a hug.Key Topics:Why 3-5 minutes is enough for nutrition advice, but 55 minutes is needed to understand the personThe difference between knowing what to do and being able to do itHow childhood experiences shape our relationship with foodIdentity vs. body image: Understanding the distinction in elite sportWorking with professional vs. amateur athletes: What actually changesThe alcohol conversation: Culture, masculinity, and performance in Irish sportWhy confidence—not meal plans—is the ultimate outcome of good nutrition coachingSimple environmental changes that support good nutrition (hint: fruit baskets and microwaves matter)Perfect for: Coaches who want to understand behavior change beyond their sport, practitioners working in nutrition or lifestyle coaching, and anyone interested in the deeper psychology of performance.Daniel challenges coaches to examine their own relationship with food and asks: Are you embodying the behaviors you want to see in your athletes? This conversation goes far beyond nutrition—it's about what it means to truly support human performance.Links & Resources:Daniel Davey's Website: daveynutrition.com (for recipes, articles, and consultation info).Books by Daniel Davey: Eat Up, Raise Your Game and Eat Up: The Next Level.Daniel Davey on Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/daniel-davey-8326a839/ Join the TOC Coach Community for FREE https://www.skool.com/toccoach/aboutSubscribe to the Team Culture Toolbox Newsletter so you don't miss the notes to this and every episode! https://tocculture.com/culture-toolboxLearn More and Apply for the next TOC Coaching Retreat: https://www.tocculture.com/retreat Learn More about Besty Butterick and her work with coaches! https://betsybutterick.com/
