This episode of Wisdom of the Body, "When You're Between Two Versions of Your Life," explores the disorienting experience of feeling disconnected from yourself even when nothing is obviously wrong. Author and Ayurvedic practitioner Heather Grzych reflects on life transitions, identity shifts, emotional numbness, burnout, and the feeling of being "stuck" or lost during periods of internal change. Drawing from stories in spiritual traditions, including from the Book of Genesis, she examines what it feels like when your body, emotions, and sense of self begin changing before your external life catches up. If you've been searching for answers about why you feel different lately, why your life no longer feels fully aligned, or why you feel emotionally unsettled despite functioning normally, this episode offers a deeply human perspective on transition, uncertainty, and becoming someone new before you fully understand who that is. Heather Grzych, ADLC is an American author and teacher of Ayurvedic medicine who was formerly the president of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association and the head of product development for a multi-billion-dollar health insurance company. Heather's first book, The Ayurvedic Guide to Fertility, has sold thousands of copies worldwide, and her writing has been featured in Sports Illustrated, Yoga Journal, and the Sunday Independent. This episode of Wisdom of the Body, "Is Your Supplement Stack Actually Helping You?", explores the growing confusion around supplements, herbal medicine, and modern wellness culture. Author and Ayurvedic practitioner Heather Grzych explains why more supplements do not always lead to better health, unpacking the difference between targeted herbal support and compulsive accumulation, the Ayurvedic concept of agni (digestive and processing capacity), and why simplification is often more supportive than constant optimization. Using personal stories, practical examples, and character references, she examines how wellness culture can encourage people to override their body's signals in pursuit of an ideal. You'll also learn how Ayurveda approaches herbs like Ashwagandha through individualized assessment, cleansing, and rejuvenation rather than one-size-fits-all solutions. This episode offers a more thoughtful framework for choosing the best herbs and supplements for stress, energy, inflammation, nervous system support, and overall wellness—while helping you understand when the body may actually need less input, less fragmentation, and more clarity. You'll learn why the mind often races ahead while the body anchors in the present, how over-planning the future can disconnect you from real change, and why true readiness is built through repetition. There is probably no one better than Belfast man, Sam McBride to discuss the possibility of unification. His recent book, For and Against a United Ireland was one of the big influences on this series. He is the Northern Ireland Editor of the Belfast Telegraph and the Sunday Independent newspapers. He also writes on Northern Ireland for The Economist. He is a former Political Editor of the Belfast News Letter and has made a BBC film about the Northern Bank robbery. He is author of The Sunday Times bestseller Burned: The Inside Story of the 'Cash-for-Ash' Scandal and Northern Ireland's Secretive New Elite and is a regular broadcaster. In October 2025 BBC NI published a podcast series, Borderland, that tackled the question of Irish unity. While the series explored both sides of the argument on the question of unity, there was one clear agreement. It's time for the south to seriously engage with the Northern question if there is to be any real debate on the possibility of a united Ireland. Notre Dame University are also running a major research project investigating the constitutional future of Ireland called ARINS (Analysing and Researching Ireland North and South) that probs these questions. This limited series in an answer to this work and looks to further the conversation amongst ordinary young people in the south. Shockingly, only 22% of southerners have made repeat trips north of the border so what do we really know about life in the North? What would a United Ireland look like? Is it something we really want? What does a modern Ireland for all look like? What are the concessions we would have to make and can we make them? This series looks to engage with the question of the North beyond the romantic notions ask practical questions of the south. How do we go about building a united Ireland for all? Ayurvedic practitioner and author Heather Grzych talks with novelist Sam Sussman, author of the bestselling novel Boy from the North Country, in a candid conversation about parents, family history, and the stories we inherit without choosing. Together they explore how personal loss becomes fiction, how caregiving rewires the body, and what it means to grow up in the long shadow of myth, especially when people can't help but wonder if you might be Bob Dylan's son. Sam reflects on transforming intimate family truths into narrative, while Heather brings her embodied lens to the ways lineage shapes identity, creativity, and the emotional patterns we carry. This is a conversation about grief, legacy, and the strange wisdom inside the histories we're born into. Author and Ayurvedic practitioner Heather Grzych explores the tragic and complex history of the swastika — a sacred symbol of well-being and auspiciousness in Indian traditions that was later twisted by the Nazis into one of the most feared emblems of hatred in modern history. Heather traces how the symbol's meaning shifted as it crossed cultural and historical boundaries, reflecting on how words and images can be deliberately or unconsciously transformed over time. Drawing from her background in Ayurveda, as a writer, and her personal experience as an American mother of child from a Jewish lineage, she asks whether a symbol can ever be healed, and how awareness, empathy, and communication might help us reconnect to the body of meaning beneath the wounds of history.
