Linn Boyke (School of Dog Psychology) and Ian Grant (Vermont Dog Trainer) bring you a podcast dedicated to educating dog owners. If you are a dog owner struggling with your dog or you just want to learn more about dogs this is the podcast for you!
This was a GREAT subject to talk to Linn about. As dog owners we are always wondering if our dogs realize we are coming back home or coming back to get them at daycare. We spoke about different situations from boarding your dog to Mother dogs with their litter all of a sudden disappearing. Listen to this one!
As you all know I just got a new puppy a few weeks ago. But for new dog owners or dog owners looking to add another dog to the mix, picking out the right one is extremely important. Find out what advice Linn gives to dog owners to help them pick the right dog.
We have been experimenting at work with a fire drill, timing to see how long it takes to get all dogs outside safely. This brought on a discussion of how dog owners can think of how it pertains to them. Enjoy this one!
Hey Everyone - I think it's safe to say that Linn and I are going to be on a more regular schedule now. Hoping that every Monday morning you will wake up to another new episode. As I'm sure you heard there was a flight attendant that was bitten by a service dog a couple of months back. Well I wanted to get Linn's take on the situation and environment. Hope you enjoy this one! Please leave a review and subscribe to us on your podcast app!
Summer has flown by and both Linn and myself have been quite busy. Linn has been traveling for most of the summer and I've never had such a busy summer here at work. So here is your update on what we've been up to, plus listen in on one of Linn's most intense dogs he's worked with in a long time!
Another workshop is in the books! This makes 4 of them and Linn has improved on each one giving the attendees a deeper understanding of Dog Psychology. We sat own with Erynn Connors of Wanderlust Canine Services out of Rutland, Vermont to talk about her workshop experience.
I thought it would be a great idea to hear how Linn breaks down and describes Dog Psychology. He gives great examples of how it compares to obedience. Then the conversation turns into how we as dog owners need to take responsibility.
Linn and I sat down with Amanda and Melissa at the conclusion of the workshop last Friday. It was fun to hear what brought them here, what they wanted to learn, and what they are taking away from the workshop. Be careful, after listening to this it might make you want to come to a future workshop here!
Linn was here in Vermont so we decided to tape an episode before his workshop started. There is some great information in this episode about slowing everything down with your dog and also those 2 words in the dog world that dog owners hope they don't get with their dog - Separation Anxiety.
Linn's Workshop Learn, Practice, Master, Begin Again concluded last week at my facility in Vermont. We snagged Bria Tiro to talk about her experience being here and learning from Linn. www.schoolofdogpsychology.com www.vermontdogtrainer.com www.trainingwithbria.com
This is a deep issue that is affecting many dog owners on a daily basis. It's a tough situation when your dog has bitten you or lunged at you. How can you "act" calm and confident when the trust has already been broken? Listen in as Linn goes to the "deep end" on this subject.
This is our first installment of answering viewer questions. We start right out of the gate with a dog owner living with an almost 2 year old reactive dog.
Recently Linn spent 5 days with a client in New Mexico who had 3 dogs that have been fighting for over 10 years. This is a situation that is very tough to deal with as an owner. Here is some insight into how Linn deals with these kinds of situations.
Social pressure plays a key role in how dogs are fulfilled. If they don't get that social interaction they so desperately need bad behaviors can creep up on you before you know it. But you have to be aware of your skill set both as an owner or a trainer. Sometimes the dog you are working with can just be too much for you.
Linn and I are more than excited to bring you the very first episode of our NEW podcast! We hope to bring you some insight and information that will help you on a daily basis whether you are a dog owner or dog trainer. We would love to hear your feedback so please Rate & Review us on iTunes. If there are topics you would like us to discuss in the future please send your emails to: thecanineexchange@gmail.com Enjoy!
