What does it mean to be a warrior when the odds are not in your favor and even the world seems to have turned its back on you? Welcome to the world of the heroes in Northern European myth. The divine heroes Beowulf, Sigurd, and Starkadr and the Germanic warriors who venerated them, lived in a world of stark extremes, where courage, honor, and strength were tested at every turn. Their stories weren't just entertainment; they were guides for living boldly in a harsh and uncertain world. While we no longer live in these warrior cultures of the past, those of us attempting to walk this path in the modern world still face the same eternal questions:How do you live knowing that everything you love will one day die?How do you act with honor in a world no longer believes in it?How do you continue to fight when you feel as though the battle cannot be won? This is the world these warriors inhabited, and through their deeds, their trials, and their defiance, we find answers to the timeless questions of how to live, act, and fight with honor today. So, strap in and get ready for a wild ride through the world of the Germanic Hero. Hey friends, Chase here This week I had back-to-back coaching calls with two different clients. One had the skillset but not the mindset. The other had the mindset but not the skillset. Different people, same roadblock — they were both stuck at the edge of their next level because they were avoiding the hard stuff. Here's the truth most people don't want to hear: You don't level up because you "get discovered." You level up because you build both your skillset and your mindset — and that requires doing the uncomfortable work you've been dodging. Skillset without mindset? You become the talented person who keeps getting passed over. Mindset without skillset? You're inspiring, but not shipping meaningful work. You need both. And the only way to build both is by leaning into hard things. In today's episode: The real difference between mindset and skillset (and why both matter equally) How avoiding difficult work quietly caps your potential The simple practice that makes doing hard things a habit, not a hurdle Enjoy — and remember: the hard thing you're avoiding is the key to your next level.

In this clip, David Hassell, co-founder of 15Five, breaks down why hiring someone who's not aligned with your culture – even if they check every box on the skills side – is a ticking time bomb. He shares how culture shapes behavior more than we think, why execs especially need to embody company values, and how even small misalignments can kill trust inside a team. He also talks about the mistakes they made scaling from 70 to 200 people in a year and how those lessons led to a values-first hiring system every founder should be thinking about. Enjoyed this clip? When I sat down with my friend @RyanPineda , I knew this episode was going to be packed with truth, but I didn't expect the level of raw honesty and practical wisdom he brought. Ryan's story starts where a lot of us have been—broke, uncertain, and wondering what God's plan really looks like when the dream we've been chasing falls apart. From playing professional baseball to flipping couches just to survive, Ryan shows what it looks like when faith collides with grit.Connect with Ryan: https://ryanpineda.com/What I love about this conversation is how real Ryan is about risk, failure, and obedience. He talks about maxing out $50,000 in credit cards to flip his first house—trusting that if it didn't work out, God would still provide. That decision became a turning point, birthing multiple businesses, social-media influence, and a mission to raise up Kingdom entrepreneurs through Tentmakers. His success didn't come from playing it safe; it came from partnering with God and being willing to move even when it didn't make sense. If you've ever felt stuck—financially, spiritually, or emotionally—this episode will challenge you to take inventory of your skill set, your mindset, and your faith. We talk about how to identify the next skill that will multiply your income, how to break the fear of risk, and how obedience always leads to blessing. This one's for every man who knows there's more in him, but just needs the courage to take that next step.Chapters:00:00 – Intro: Skills That Lead to Real Wealth01:30 – From Baseball to Broke: Ryan's Early Journey04:00 – Flipping Couches and Finding Purpose08:00 – Overcoming Fear and Taking Risk10:15 – The First Prophetic Word: Real Estate15:00 – The $50K Credit-Card Leap of Faith19:00 – When God Says “Do It Again”: The Social Media Pivot23:00 – Obedience, Growth, and Kingdom Influence33:00 – The Skillset That Determines Your Income40:00 – Failures, Faith, and Getting Better Every DayABOUT BRAVECOWe live in a time where men are hunting for the truth and looking for the codebook to manhood. In this episode, I'm diving into one of the biggest truths I've learned over nearly 30 years in leadership and human resources: skills alone aren't enough. You can learn every model, framework, or productivity hack out there, but if your mindset doesn't shift underneath, the behavior won't stick. I share real-world examples - from health goals to communication breakdowns, delegation struggles, and presentation nerves - to show the difference between a quick fix and true transformation. We'll also talk about the root causes that drive behavior, how limiting beliefs hold us back, and how pairing skillset with mindset unlocks lasting growth. Skills are the tools. Mindset is the fuel. And when you ignite the right fuel, your tools truly work. Enjoy! Angie Robinson Links + Ways to Connect: Show Notes: Episode 192 Show Notes Subscribe to my newsletter! We all know the detrimental effects of all or nothing thinking when it comes to health and fitness, so why do we think that way when it comes to our businesses? All or nothing typically ends up being nothing, so if you're starting an online business, it's paramount to take messy action and overcome perfectionism. Expecting perfection from yourself will only lead to burn out and abandonment. By taking immediate action rather than waiting for the perfect moment, you will always find yourself closer to your goals. Progress is always better than perfection. The most common reason people quit their online business has to do with their mindset. Entrepreneurship is difficult, and if you can't get your mind right, you're likely to give up before you can get going. In a new Mindset Mini-series, Jill is discussing some of the most common online business mindset challenges you'll be facing, and how to work through them. Today, she's discussing impostor syndrome and how to build confidence through action, take ownership of your business journey, and recognize that your past successes can be a foundation for future growth.
