The Decisive CEO: How to Build Trust Without Slowing Down [The CEO Types Series]

The Fed and Fearless Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 17, 2026 51:06

I'm kicking off my four-part series on the four CEO types, and we're starting with the one I know very well: the Decisive CEO. If you're the kind of leader who makes high-stakes decisions fast, holds your standards without flinching, and doesn't waste time dragging dead offers into the ground… you're in the right place. I'm breaking down why your speed, intensity, and directness are not problems to "fix"—they're competitive advantages. But I'm also sharing the one place where decisiveness can backfire: when your momentum outruns trust. We'll talk about how to build trust infrastructure (without becoming "softer" or handholding people one-by-one) so your leadership lands, your clients feel supported, and your business grows faster without draining you. Timeline Highlights [00:00] - I introduce the four-part CEO types series and why most business advice only works for two "popular" operator styles [02:38] - The Decisive CEO profile: fast decisions, strong pricing energy, and bold leadership—plus the "you're too much" conditioning [04:22] - Core wiring: task-oriented + fast-paced (and why that's an asset, not a liability) [08:23] - Why decisive leaders win: quick decisions, no dead-offer loyalty, strong boundaries, and results-driven thinking [13:31] - How Decisive CEOs naturally make more money: aligned pricing, strong qualification, boundaries, quick pivots, and clear messaging [22:47] - The biggest blind spot: hype-first marketing (and how decisiveness can accidentally override buyer readiness) [32:01] - The solution: build trust infrastructure that creates connection automatically—without turning into a "hey girl bestie" brand [35:21] - Practical trust assets: credibility-driven content, pre-sale sequences, onboarding that creates safety, and clearer expectations [39:35] - Your game plan: design offers for experience (not just outcomes), demonstrate expertise, automate trust-building, protect your energy, and build for the life you want Top Quotes "Your intensity is a huge asset for your business." "You do not have to soften yourself… but what you do have to do is build systems." "Protect your energy like it's a business asset because it is." "You should not be working with people who drain you or make you resent your business." "Your decisiveness and your directness is an asset, not a liability." Do you feel uneasy when things slow down?Does rest make you restless, anxious, or uncomfortable—while staying busy feels safer? In this episode of Mental Health School, we explore why slowing down doesn't feel safe for so many people, even when their life is stable and nothing is technically wrong. You'll learn how your nervous system learned to associate alertness, productivity, or movement with safety—and why stillness can feel threatening if it was once linked to vulnerability or unpredictability. This episode explains why feeling uncomfortable at rest isn't a personal flaw, but a conditioned nervous system response. We also include a gentle grounding exercise designed to help your body experience stillness with support—without forcing calm or “trying to relax.”This episode is for you if:You feel better staying busy than restingStillness makes your mind louderYou feel guilty or uneasy doing nothingYou've wondered why slowing down feels unsafeUnderstanding always comes before regulation. This episode helps you understand why your body resists slowing down—and how safety is relearned over time.

Have you ever looked at your business and thought, “Everything is technically fine… so why do I feel different?”This episode isn't really about confidence. It's about what happens when you grow, heal, and evolve — and the old way of working no longer fits.Because here's the thing no one talks about in business: There are seasons.Seasons of hustle and growth. Seasons of momentum and expansion. And seasons of integration, slowing down, and recalibrating. But most women were taught to stay in GO mode forever. In this episode, I'm sharing:Why healing and growth can make you question yourself (even when nothing is “wrong”)Why confidence often feels shaky during seasons of transitionHow identity shifts in business can feel uncomfortable — especially for experienced entrepreneursWhy hustling all the time is a dangerous narrative (and no, that doesn't mean business is easy)What it actually looks like to build a profitable, sustainable business you enjoyAnd why slow, steady, long-game leadership is where real fulfillment livesI also share what this season has looked like for me — moving from a high-output, hustle year into a slower, more intentional year focused on integration and healing — and why I believe this is a sign of growth, not regression. If you're an ambitious woman who wants:to make good moneywithout burning yourself outwith systems that support your lifeand success that actually feels fulfillingThis conversation is for you. You're not losing your confidence. You're not falling behind. And you're definitely not doing business wrong. You're just in a different season. And that season matters.

“I hope you continue to be extremely intentional in choosing to be exactly where your feet are every moment that you are.”Lynn WongEpisode Summary:In this keynote episode from Zweig Group's ElevateAEC2025 Conference, Lynn Wong delivers a powerful talk on what it takes to thrive—both personally and collectively—in the architecture, engineering, and construction world. Drawing from her global leadership experience and some transformative moments along the way, Lynn explores where well-being, conscious leadership, and innovation meet. She opens up about her own story: climbing the ladder across three continents, hitting burnout hard, then finding her way back through slowing down and living with intention. Lynn connects the dots between wellness science and team dynamics, the importance of unlearning old patterns, and how to navigate the disruptions reshaping the AEC industry. Her message is clear: make conscious choices, take care of yourself, and build resilience—in your own life and across the profession.Key Takeaways:Intentional Leadership: Being fully present, knowing oneself deeply, and making conscious choices are foundational to thriving as a leader—especially amid rapid industry change.Slowing Down to Speed Up: Sustainable progress in AEC comes not from relentless pace but from mindful “slowing down”—pausing for clarity, reflection, and purposeful action.Personal Well-Being Fuels Teams: Core habits like breathing deeply, moving joyfully, mindful eating, and sleeping gratefully are essential for personal health, which in turn impacts collective performance and creativity.Embrace Unlearning for Innovation: Growth and transformation in organizations and individuals require an openness to “unlearning” old habits and perspectives and a willingness to navigate discomfort.Celebrate Team Strengths: Success in the AEC industry is rooted in collaboration, recognizing individual and team strengths, and honoring human potential in every project. All this and more on this episode of the Zweig Letter podcast.Links referenced in this episode:Connect with Lynn Wong on LinkedInLearn about the Zweig Letter and subscribe: https://thezweigletter.com/Connect with Randy Wilburn on LinkedInGet your FREE Subscription to the Zweig Letter Newsletter.Stay tuned for more

We're still in winter — even if part of us is itching to rush ahead. In this episode of The Spiritual Cupcake, Candace explores the quiet, in-between season where spring hasn't arrived yet, but the urge to speed up is strong. Instead of pushing forward, she reflects on what it looks like to resist the rush and choose stillness — even when it feels uncomfortable.Through small, intentional practices like turning off her phone, sitting in silence during drives, and creating space without distraction, Candace shares how stillness has become an unexpected doorway. A doorway into emotions long suppressed — rage, sadness, guilt, shame — and into the courage it takes to feel them, listen to them, and let them move through the body without carrying them forward. This episode is an invitation to honor the hibernation season, to trust that not everything needs to bloom right now, and to remember that when we allow ourselves to feel and release what's been held for years, spring arrives more vibrant, more honest, and more alive.

When your life is shattered by trauma, slowing down can feel impossible—even unsafe. In this tender, soul-nourishing conversation, Kristin reconnects with her friend Anna Christine Seiple, a licensed counselor, trauma survivor, and author of The Sacred Art of Slowing Down. Anna shares her profound story of devastation, healing, and rebuilding a life she never imagined possible.   Together, Kristin and Anna explore: ✨ Why slowing down is often forced upon us in seasons of trauma—and how it becomes an unexpected doorway to healing ✨ How the body carries what the mind tries to outrun, and why listening to your body is a deeply biblical practice ✨ The damaging myth in Christian culture that the body is “bad,” and how Scripture actually presents a fully integrated, embodied spirituality ✨ Why healing isn't linear, logical, or fast—and how God meets us in the mystery ✨ Permission to be human: the messy, cyclical process of grief, anger, hope, and restoration ✨ What it looks like to tend gently to the parts of yourself you've long ignored or believed were unworthy of care   If you're walking through betrayal, chronic stress, unwanted sexual behavior or profound disorientation, this episode will remind you that your body is not your enemy—your body is crying out for compassion. God created you as an integrated whole, and every part of you is worthy of love, safety, and healing.   Anna's wisdom, vulnerability, and theological depth offer real hope for anyone longing to feel whole again.   Link to Anna's book: https://a.co/d/dHvaCtF Anna's website: https://www.acseiple.com/

Episode 119: Still Learning: How My Teachings Have Evolved Through Lived Experience After seven years of living in a 24/7 DOM/sub dynamic and several years of teaching, Andrew shares how his understanding of the concepts he teaches has deepened and evolved. Growth means being willing to reconsider what you thought you knew, and in this episode, Andrew opens up about the nuances he's discovered through lived experience. In this episode, Andrew explores: Masculine Emotion: Why letting her see you in your emotional process builds intimacy, not polarity loss. The difference between using her as your therapist versus letting her witness your humanity. Feminine Chaos Redefined: Two definitions of chaos and why one represents disorder while the other holds pure potential. How a woman moves from emotional reactivity to embodied calm. Slowing Down on the Inside: Why an externally slow life doesn't matter if you're still racing internally. How your tension as a man blocks her ability to relax and receive. The Role of Fear: Why most relationships are actually between each other's conditioning and programming. How fear protects itself and why you can't force your way through it. Structure vs. Containment: The critical difference that changes everything. Why applying structure to her crushes her spirit, and what she actually needs instead. Individual Healing: Why the work is always individual. How healing yourself transforms the relationship without trying to fix it. It is often just a nervous system trying to feel safe. Hello Beautiful, Monica here supporting you to become the conscious mama you were born to be… This episode is a pause. Not the kind you schedule. The kind that sneaks up on you when you realize how much effort you are pouring into things that are not actually required. The kind that makes you notice how uncomfortable stillness feels when your identity has been built on being the one who does it all. We talk about overdoing. Not the dramatic kind. The praised kind. The kind that earns compliments while quietly exhausting your nervous system. The kind that looks like leadership, motherhood, fertility dedication, or being the responsible one. And how often that constant motion is not ambition at all, but survival. If you have ever wondered why slowing down feels harder than pushing through, or why letting something be imperfect makes your chest tighten, this episode is for you. No fixing. No forcing. Just awareness. And what starts to shift when you finally let yourself see the pattern. The Rush Trap: Slowing Down to Move Forward explores why many neurodivergent people feel driven to start tasks before fully planning, a pattern rooted in executive function differences rather than laziness. The episode explains how ADHD-related impulsivity, dopamine needs, time blindness, and autism-related overwhelm or masking can fuel this urge to rush. It offers compassionate, research-informed strategies—like brief planning pauses, simple checklists, micro-steps, and body doubling—to help slow down, reduce stress, and work more effectively.https://linktr.ee/JenniferPTTS?utm_source=linktree_profile_shareHere are the links from the articles referenced in the script:https://www.problemshared.net/resources/neurodiversity-and-executive-functionhttps://www.sydney.edu.au/news-opinion/news/2024/10/21/what-are-executive-function-delays-research-shows-they-re-similar-in-adhd-and-autism.htmlhttps://thinkadhd.co.uk/adhd-and/adhd-and-motivation/https://add.org/adhd-paralysis/https://www.shimmer.care/adhd-101/completing-taskshttps://affinitypsych.com/why-do-people-with-adhd-struggle-to-complete-tasks/https://www.pbsmidwest.com/blog/overcoming-task-avoidance-using-momentum-based-strategieshttps://actifyaba.com/how-to-support-task-initiation-in-autism-with-practical-tips/https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/topics/behaviour/demand-avoidancehttps://aidecanada.ca/resources/learn/asd-id-core-knowledge/addressing-underlying-causes-of-low-motivation-and-task-avoidancehttps://www.adhdcentre.co.uk/tips-for-adhd-impulse-control-in-adults/https://laconciergepsychologist.com/blog/10-strategies-managing-adhd-impulsivity/https://www.additudemag.com/how-do-i-stop-being-impulsive-adhd/

This is Part 3 of a three-part series on time management, motivation, and slowing down to speed up.If you haven't listened to Parts 1 and 2 yet, go back and start there. This episode builds directly on that foundation. In this final installment, I'm talking about the real reason time management feels so hard for so many people — and it has very little to do with your calendar. In an uncertain world, there are only a few things you actually control:Your thoughts.Your emotional state.Your actions (or inaction). And learning to work from that truth — instead of fighting reality — is the key to a fulfilling life and a deep sense of pride in how you spend your time.In this episode, I introduce a tool I call Mind Blocking. It's designed to pair with time blocking — but instead of controlling your schedule, it helps you develop flexibility, awareness, and emotional resilience while you're working. Mind Blocking is about noticing your thoughts in real time, separating from them, and intentionally shifting your inner experience so you can move forward with clarity and momentum.Because here's what usually happens:You start working.Something goes wrong.A client pushes back.A ball gets dropped. You don't hear back from a prospect. And suddenly your mind spirals into panic, frustration, self-doubt, or resentment — all while you're still trying to get things done. This episode walks you through a 4-step Mind Blocking process that helps you stay in the observation deck of your own mind — so stress doesn't hijack your focus, and momentum doesn't collapse the moment things get uncomfortable. We'll cover:How to decide who you want to be when it comes to follow-through and reliabilityHow to notice unhelpful thoughts while you're working (without stopping)How to replace them intentionally in the moment — not laterHow to let those new thoughts shift your emotional state and build lasting capacityOver time, this practice compounds.Your confidence grows.Your capacity expands.Your relationship with time changes. You stop designing your life around your limits — and start becoming someone who can handle more with ease. This is how you slow down internally… and speed everything else up.Royalty Free Music from Tunetank.com Track: Urban Legend by Musical Bakery https://tunetank.com/track/3362-urban-legend/

When motivation is low. When you're tired, distracted, traveling, overwhelmed—or telling yourself this just isn't the right time to push.I share a real example from being in Mexico and asking myself a hard question: Am I the kind of person who doesn't want responsibility right now… or am I becoming the kind of person who can hold responsibility anywhere? That shift changed everything. This episode breaks down the difference between designing your life around your limitations versus becoming the version of yourself who can handle more—with less stress. Counterintuitively, it's more exhausting to live a life of constant accommodation than it is to build capacity. In this episode, Lisa explores how addiction and compulsion extend far beyond substances to include any behavior that offers short-term relief at the cost of long-term freedom. Drawing on Gabor Maté's framework and her own lived experience, she unpacks how dieting, restriction, productivity, and people-pleasing can quietly become addictive coping strategies that create an illusion of safety and control. Lisa introduces the concept of “dieting addiction” and addiction transfer, explaining how food restriction can be just as reinforcing as overeating, and why these patterns can live in the brain as learned responses to stress. With raw honesty, she shares her own breakdown and eating disorder diagnosis, and broadens the lens to include socially rewarded addictions like caffeine use and workaholism. Topics Include:Compulsion and AddictionDieting and RestrictionAddiction TransferGrief, Slowing Down, and Support[0:56] Lisa begins this episode by checking in with herself the way she does with all of her guests. She shares her feeling of nervousness and excitement about recording the solo episode. Lisa realized she has approached her solo podcast series with a habitual sense of urgency to get to the end of her notes and finish the chapter. She describes the urgency as similar to the pressure one might feel to lose weight quickly, even when there's no real timeframe.[8:05] Lisa explains that her current intentional weight loss experience has triggered memories and trauma from her previous extreme weight loss. For Lisa to properly convey the depth and gravity of her current experience, she feels it's essential to first provide the context of her past struggles with dieting addiction.[14:41] Lisa presents a model comparing the physical actions of dieting with the psychological rewards. Lisa explains that on the surface, it looks like discipline and willpower, but psychologically, it can be an addiction where the person feels they can't not engage in the behavior out of fear. Lisa talks about how this demonstrates how the brain can equate not eating with stress relief and safety, making it difficult to stop dieting even when consciously desired.[29:48] Lisa explains that proponents of intuitive eating argue that food addiction isn't real, as addictive-like behaviors are often a direct result of either physical or mental restriction. Lisa partially agrees but maintains that for some, including herself, the behavior is a byproduct of the hippocampus storing the memory that food alleviates stress, making it a "drug of choice" independent of dieting. [50:31] Lisa discusses  that one doesn't need to have a formal diagnosis to address addictive behaviors and reclaim personal power. The key is to pay attention to the relationship with a behavior, not the behavior itself. Lisa explains that addiction is present when you feel you can't not do something, rather than choosing to do it freely.[54:48] Lisa talks about how society rewards other addictive behaviors, such as extreme weight loss and workaholism, creating "high-functioning" addicts who appear successful but are internally struggling. Lisa explains that creating safety often requires slowing down, which may mean accomplishing less. [1:12:18] Lisa closes this episode by discussing grief in the process and how one may need to grieve the identity of being a person who "does it all" to prioritize well-being. She compares the process to sitting shiva and when grieving old habits or identities, it is valid to allow oneself to be supported and cared for by others.*The views of podcast guests do not necessarily reflect the views and beliefs of Lisa Schlosberg or Out of the Cave, LLC.LISA IS NOW ACCEPTING: One-on-One Clients!Purchase the OOTC book of 50 Journal PromptsLeave Questions and Feedback for Lisa via OOTC Pod Feedback Form Email Lisa: lisa@lisaschlosberg.comOut of the Cave Merch - For 10% off use code SCHLOS10Lisa's Socials: Instagram Facebook YouTube

In this episode of The Nikki & Brie Show, the twins are embracing a new mindset: January isn't just about hitting the ground running, it's about slowing down, resetting with intention, and romanticizing rest. From soup season and puzzle nights to moon gazing and winter mood lighting, Nikki and Brie are leaning into the quiet magic of early 2026.Nikki reflects on rising from personal lows to high-vibe confidence and shares a message of hope for anyone feeling stuck: the journey is never over! Brie is slowing time with Bryan and the kids, and explains why she's letting nature lead the way into this year. The twins also take a hilarious look at what's in and out for 2026—think: clear boundaries, digital detoxes, romanticizing rest and quiet wins are IN, while hustle culture, comparison traps, and all-or-nothing diets are OUT. They both agree: there's no rush to bloom in January. Press play and slow down with us. Call Nikki & Brie at 833-GARCIA2 and leave a voicemail!
