God IS interested in WHAT you do. But, He is more interested in HOW you do what you do. Today we see exactly how that applies in dealing with our bosses and those that He chosen to be placed in authority over us.
Today we discover just what it means that we ARE the light of the world.
As we begin this new series we take a look at how God would have us conduct ourselves at work.
There is more to prayer than just asking God to help with stuff. Today we look at the Lord's Prayer as a model for approaching God in a way that can truly change your life.
Today we hear from four different Eastside people involved in mission efforts in four different countries this summer.
The title says it all. Listen as Eastside Worship Pastor Bob Ashinhurst shares the true reason as to WHY we worship.
Today we hear from AJ McMath as he comes in view of a call to be the Student Pastor at Eastside.
We conclude the "Foolproof" series by identifying the extremely important DECISION that must be made BEFORE you even ask the QUESTION...."What it the wise thing to do?"
Sometimes when we WANT to make the wise choice....we just don't know what THAT is. This is why God desires for us to be willing to consider the counsel of others in our life.
Today we are reminded that we need to make the WISE choice with our TIME.
Today we are reminded that living to the limit is not normally the wise thing to do.
Today we hear from our Student Minstry as they return from a week at camp. Listen as they share how God challenged them - and grew them - and drew them closer to Himself.
Scripture names three different types of people who will reject wisdom. ( 1 The Naive, 2 The Fool, and 3 The Scoffer.) All three reject wisdom but, at some point in life they NEED wisdom and that point is when we discover that wisdom itself has a surprise waiting for them.
Today we discover that when we are faced with decisions, the question we should ask is NOT.."is this legal?" or "is this acceptable?" or "how far is too far?". The best question is .."What is the WISE thing to do?". God has called us to live a life according to wisdom, not a life that is determined to see just how close we can get without "actually" going over the line.
Today we hear from Don Burns from Tulakogee as he shares the impact that you can have on people you may never see, just by being obedient to give as God leads.
Today we discover that just like Jonah, sometimes we let what WE are concerned about become more important to us than what GOD is concerned about.
This Mother's Day we were reminded what our Mom's always want us to remember. God is always ready to welcome us back and give us a second chance.
All of us run from God in one way or another. Today we discover, just as Jonah did, that while you can run FROM God, you can NEVER OUTRUN God.
Today we hear from Olivier Melnick of Chosen People Ministries.
Sometimes we are faced with a choice that means doing the right thing may cost us something. In this message we take encouragement from Moses who found himself listed in God's Hall of Fame (Hebrews Chapter 11) and the decisions he made, knowing they would cost him but, realizing that being known as someone who stands for God is something far more valuable.
Easter! The empty tomb, even a suprise to Jesus' followers, changed the way EVERYBODY viewed Him. The fact that He said He would rise again, and then He pulled it off - gives validity to EVERYTHING else that He said.
There has never been a generation whose view of marriage is high enough. Some have such a low, casual view of it that it makes God's biblical vision of it seem ludicrous to most people.
There IS NO OTHER WAY! People who argue that Christians are being intolerant by saying Jesus is the only way to eternal life have a disagreement with the Bible, not with the Christian.
It is not a comfortable topic but, it needs to be discussed. Most people have a very strong opinion about it but, primarily their opinion is that it does not exist or if it does, it is not really all that bad. Today we look at Hell. Jesus believed that it was real....that people actually go there...and that it is a place or eternal suffering.
Homosexuality is NOT new, you aren't BORN that way, God has NOT CHANGED His mind about it, but, He is ALWAYS willing to welcome you back home.
Simply put: there IS absolute truth and it CAN be found! Will you LOOK for it and then APPLY it to your life?
In the final message in this series we are challenged to run our race with our eyes on Jesus while removing the things that slow us down.
Today we are reminded exactly what it means to deny yourself - take up your cross - daily - and follow Him.
in part four of this series we are reminded that sometimes the accumulation or pursuit of things such as wealth, approval, or position can become so valuable that we would actually so NO to the offer to follow Jesus. With this in mind we are challenged to lay those things or pursuit of those things down at Jesus' feet and acknowledge that it all comes from Him anyway....so if for whatever reason He were to ask for it.....we want to be people who would gladly give it over and follow Him.
We have no idea when we choose to follow Him where that might lead....we also have no idea when we choose NOT to follow Him as to what the results may be.
Ever feel like following God means taking a HUGE leap of faith? Sometime He just wants us to take "baby steps" and when we do.....we have NO IDEA where they may lead.
sometimes we can get so caught up in following the rules that we forget to enjoy the game. In the same way, sometimes we forget that the whole reason for reading your bible, going to church, spending time in prayer....is to actually enjoy the RELATIONSHIP that we have with God. In this message we are challenged to simply follow HIM today.
so many times we begin the new year with a goal of READING God's Word, in this message we are challenged to do more than READ it....we are challanged to LIVE IT!
BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministry) Director Steve Lewis reminds us that there are people all around us that are DESPERATE to recieve something from Christ. It is our job as believers to take our eyes off of ourselves long enough to look for them, find them, and bring them to Him.
In the final part of this series we discover that God is a Promise-Keeping God and that He made one final promise through Christ - the promise of salvation to those who will recieve it.
In part three we discover that God is willing to USE you and even CHOOSE you right there in the midst of the chaos that is present in your life. No need to get the ducks in a row FIRST....He is just waiting for you to turn in His direction.
in part two of this series we discover that God wants to use us today EVEN when we feel like our past may make us unusable. Not only does He WANT to use us but, when given a choice, He CHOOSES to use us.
As we begin this new series as well as this Christmas season we are reminded that the reason we celebrate the birth of Christ in the first place, is because He brought light to a very dark world. And without His light, we would never be able to have a relationship with a loving God.
In his last message as Student Pastor at EBC, Kerry White challenges the Church to examine WHY it is that we worship God. If it is because of WHAT He does for us...then we may need to rethink. If it is simply because He IS God that He is worthy of our praise and worship....then we may just be on to something good and right.
In the final part of the series we discover that God will sometimes ask us to do something out of our comfort zone. Like Peter getting out of the boat....unless we trust Him to do something special in and through us, we will just be satisfied to sit in the boat and watch His tremendous power pass us by.
In part two of the series "Do What?" we discover that while we would never just say "NO" to God, we will offer Him a "Plan B" but, that often times leads to regret instead of just trusting what He is asking us to do.
In part one of our new series Do What?, we discover that often when God asks us to do things, whether large or small, the real question is, Is He trustworthy and will we trust Him?
In part four of How To we explore the Book of Nehemiah for a principle that teaches us how to say no to the distractions that stand in the way of our vision and goals.
In part three of How To, David teaches on the importance of seeking out the principles of the Bible rather than wandering through our readings aimlessly and how even our attempts to do the right thing can be disapproved of by God when we do them in the wrong ways.
