Ray is joined in studio by Kerry White, workplace health and wellbeing facilitator and motherhood clarity coach who is sharing her story of becoming a mother
Yoga teacher and wellness coach Kerry White was 48 years old when she finally decided to pursue her long-held dream to become a mother. As a single woman, who had just entered perimenopause, White used donor sperm and donor eggs to become pregnant. Then, in 2020, two months shy of her 50th birthday, her baby girl Freya was born. In this episode, White talks to Róisín Ingle about going it alone, the reaction from those closest to her and how she didn't want to live with the regret of having never tried. She also talks about the process of choosing donors, the options available for solo parents and how her work now focuses on helping other women navigate their path to motherhood. But first, Irish Times journalist Bernice Harrison is here to talk through some of the stories making the headlines this week, including Bishop Mariann E. Budde's brave plea to President Donald Trump, the sexual assault allegations facing author Neil Gaiman and a new archaeological study which shows that in Celtic Britain, women held the power in society.Kerry White Ted Talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQNqIxj8Se4 Hosted on Acast. On tonight's episode of the Noobs show, we take a break from instruction and spend some time with a great storyteller, Kerry White. “Whitey” as he preferes to be called by his friends, has known Sean for a long time, as he was Seans 11th grade history teacher. Aside from being an amazing teacher who made kids hope to have him as their teacher, He also inspires anyone he talks to to share in his great love for everything outdoors. An avid and enthusiastic hunter and fisherman, Whitey has taken that love and turned into song and great stories that he shares as a speaker/entertainer at various venues. Whitey joins Sean to share some of those great stories, a joke or two, and even one of his original songs! He even throws in a few tips scattered in! So be sure to tune in to this unique but very entertaining episode of Bass Fishing for Noobs, part of the Paddle N Fin podcast, and fall in love with the outdoors all over again! What do you think about expelling or suspending kids from school? Do you think it should be phased out? Or do you think kids should be disciplined for behaving badly? Andrew and Holly chat about how one school principal is making a difference by having never suspended or expelled students in his 37 years as an educator. Plus, Daddo nailed parenting when he let his 16-year-old daughter and her friend go camping... alone! But of course, not before he set a few rules in place. In his last message as Student Pastor at EBC, Kerry White challenges the Church to examine WHY it is that we worship God. If it is because of WHAT He does for us...then we may need to rethink. If it is simply because He IS God that He is worthy of our praise and worship....then we may just be on to something good and right.
Every day we face a very real temptation: we can proclaim Jesus Christ in our lives, or we can package a watered-down version of Jesus to market to the masses. In Dashboard Jesus, Kerry looks at the fine line between worship and idol worship and the dangers of selling to the public a Jesus other than the one revealed in Scripture.
Where does your faith play a role in a life consumed with evidence? How willing are we to trust God when there is no evidence to go on? In the final part of our series Twelve Feet, Kerry goes back to the trial of Jesus to put an unlikely candidate under the microscope--Pontius Pilate--and we see just how close he was to buying into the reality Jesus Christ was offering.
How selfish can we really be? When you consider that many of our dramatic moments are over relatively insignifcant things, it's a wonder we ever get around to thinking of others. In Drama Queen, Kerry takes a look at a familiar parable and teaches that it isn't always about us...even when we think it is.
Today it's the topic of revenge as we look at a moment in the life of David to give us insight on how to deal with the all-too human desire to get payback when we've been wronged.
In Catalyst, we examine a moment in the life of Judas to reveal the importance of eliminating sin and tackling negative circumstances.
