Welcome to the Equestrians with Purpose Podcast! Horses teach us many life lessons, but often times we don't implement them into other areas of our lives! This podcast is all about bridging that connection, having honest conversations and making personal development a greater discussion in the horse world!
In todays episode I had the chance to interview my old friend Anna Hallene! Rider, trainer, business owner and overall horse girl! We talk about different limiting beliefs that hold us back from just even getting started on our dreams! As well as dealing with setbacks, learning to give yourself grace, finding balance, burnout and so much more!We would love to hear what you think of this interview! Do you feel like sometimes you are crushing it & other times you just seem to be dropping the ball?In todays episode we choose to not focus on the negatives, all the things we are inconsistent at instead look at everything we are doing well at! We know inconsistency doesn't work well with horses, it's not an all or nothing approach. It's better to be slower but at a consistent pace versus fast pace but very inconsistent.
In todays episode we talk about that feeling we all have of "ugh I just want to be THERE". Whatever "there" is for you meaning, goals, dreams, visions of what you want your life to look like. Ever fantasize about being there? Wishing it was right now?Listen in as we talk about expectations, small changes, lessons and Grand Prix!
Do you ever feel not worthy of certain things in your life? Or like you are not enough? Well you are definitely not alone! In todays episode I talk about feeling unworthy of where we are at right here, right now. Brene Brown teaches us that the only thing separating us from the people who do feel worthy is the belief in ourselves that we are worthy, not from others or external things, us. I share some things that I have been using in real time that you can start TODAY!
Most of us in the world have experienced burnout in different areas of our lives but when it comes to horses burnout can have a guilty feeling attached to it. Something you love, are passionated and obsessed with cannot be something you get burned out on right? WRONG. It's totally normal to experience burnout even with the things we love most, horses! In todays episode I talk about my experiences with burnout and ways to help you prevent it!
Today's episode we talk about those uncomfortable feelings & resistance we experience throughout our lives from seemingly small things to large moments. We need to recognize that discomfort means growth, which means change, which can be hard! Of course the metaphors of how this relates to horses is a pivotal example & great way to recognize those uncomfortable moments with horses & push through!
Todays episode is the very FIRST interview of Equestrians with Purpose! Honestly, I have never interviewed anyone before so I thought my mom would be the perfect first guest! Not only because I am comfortable with her but also because she has been a part of the horse industry for over 50 years!! From riding to showing to horse care & everything in between she's seen & done a lot!A short interview where we talk all things from the hunter ring to confidence, community & dealing with bad rides!
In todays episode we talk about various different things from how to deal with the anticipation of your horse doing something bad & how that can reflect on your own life. As well as ways to end any ride in a good way & much more!
In todays episode we talk about the power of being present in the moment, social media & technology take us away from the present & can sometimes construe the way we view ourselves, lives & decisions. Riding is the ultimate form of being present in the moment, we are blessed the feeling of being in the moment is only a ride away & we to harness that to bring into other parts of our lives!
Today is the first BONUS episode! Mixing it up with a different style of episode, sharing some funny horse stories from over the years plus my thoughts on the future of this podcast! Thanks for all your support so far!
In todays episode we talk about the connection between the fear of judgement with external and internal validation. That we often fear judgement because we rely too much on external validation from others instead of realizing internal validation from ourselves is all we need!
It is very easy in todays world to get caught up in the comparison game on social media. When in reality all we our seeing is a highlight reel of someones life, even if they share a lot. I share tips on how to avoid getting caught up in this mindset & focus on your own path.
In todays episode we talk about the mindset we have around riding errors, mistakes & things we overall struggle with in the saddle. There is always a technical answer as to why things didn't go to plan but I find there is always a deeper answer that as nothing to do with riding but the mindset we have around the situation, the thoughts we have & the story we tell ourselves.
In todays episode I have a huge announcement that ties into the topic & power of believing in YOU! Its great when others believe in you but there will always be people who don't, if you don't believe in yourself you will let those people keep you small & keep you from your dreams. Theres extreme power in personal development work, in changing your mindset, thoughts & small actions, it's changed my life that's why I am passionate about bringing this into the horse world, make it a greater, kinder & compassionate environment.
In todays episode we talk about the fear of being judged. Something EVERY single human on the planet struggles with to some degree. But I've found through my own experience we have to stand in our conviction & remember WHY we our doing the things we think we might be judged for, someone will judge you no matter what path you chose. Plus someones opinion of you is none of your business. If it brings you joy, do it despite that fear, you never know who you may inspire or how your life may change. Thanks for your support!
Todays episode tells the story of horse dear to my heart, Marco. Against all the odds came back from injury most horses wouldn't, I like to believe it was because he wanted to be better, to work again & have people in his life. This story helps show us the power of a positive mindset even in the most negative of situations, how switching even the smallest of negative thoughts into positive ones & choosing to see the silver linings can change our overall outlook on life! Hope you enjoy! Follow me on IG @xenasmith_equestrian
In todays episode we talk about the unfortunate never ending discussion of bullies & cyberbullies in the horse world, aka "keyboard warriors" & "Facebook trainers" At some point we have all been bullied, hated on or scrutinized, in the horse world & out of it. It typically has nothing to do with us & everything to do with the other person, but it does not make hearing those things any easier. When it comes to horses we all have different backgrounds, education levels & experience, we can't learn it over night! It's time to stop the hate & belittling & start EDUCATING those who know less than us in the horse world!
Welcome back! In todays episode "asking for help" we talk about not being ashamed or afraid to ask for help. We can be independent but still accept that we can't always do it alone! That not asking can lead us in the wrong direction, leave us stuck or potentially getting hurt. That we cannot feel less than or stupid for asking for help. With some quotes from the awesome Brene Brown! & a funny story about a pony!
Todays episode is all about confidence! We gain confidence from repeatedly doing things that push us out of our comfort zone. With horses we all have experienced fear & lack of confidence but continue to push through the fear anyway because we love the sport. Then slowly over time that one thing we feared with a horse becomes second nature. With a little conscious effort we can apply that same "do it anyway, do it scared" motto to our lives outside of the saddle!
Todays episode is all about celebrating the small wins! Celebrating all the tiny little things that get us to where we ultimately want to go, so we can be happy in the pursuit of our goals, not just when we arrive at them! Also learning to enjoy the season of life we are in & recognizing what we can learn from it! We celebrate all of the little steps & improvements our horses make but we don't give ourselves enough credit for those tiny little wins! Time to change that!
Hey horse friends, welcome to episode 1! In todays episode I start off with a brief introduction of myself and the concept behind this podcast. Then we dive into our very first topic, KNOW YOUR WHY! The WHY behind why you ride horses, going deeper than "I love horses" the driving force that keeps you showing up day after day, year after year, even when you don't want to (lets be honest we all have those moments). I share with you my why, the years I didn't have a defined why and how it affected my life with horses. I hope you can connect with this and can start thinking of your WHY! I would love to hear your answer! Message me or share this episode on your stories on Insta and tag me! @xenasmith_eqfitness
