Yes!  You are in!  Deeper!  Casey aka the Jogging Jesus is back.   No, he's not the real Jesus.  He just kinda looks like what we think Jesus looks like.  Plus he does jog, has raised thousands of dollars for clean water via Team World Vision and will randomly pray for strangers on his runs.  So, what I love about Casey is that he won't sugar coat.  I'm going to encourage you to listen 'ALL' the way through. I love the way Casey opens up talking about his love for the United States, our freedoms and for those that seek to protect us.  As he continues, you may bristle like I did with having to review some history.  Hey, sometimes we don't like looking back.  Yet the wise will learn from their mistakes.  History can be a great teacher so we don't make the same mistakes.  As I shared back on Veteran's Day 2020, I challenge anyone to show me a more diverse country with the same freedoms.  You can't.  I don't see anyone looking like Barak Obama that has led China or Japan or Saudi Arabia or England or even Canada!  Not yet.  Oh right, Casey, sorry.  This dude tackle racism, word play, abortion, bullies, just about every 'hot button' that people go nuts over.  And he does it with grace.  So without further adieu, here is another Deeper sesh by Casey giving you some things that wiil make you go hmmmmmm...

Atheist Christopher Hitchens once wrote, “religion poisons everything”, and he included the Christian religion in that assessment. When you look at the behavior of some claiming to be Christians over the centuries— when you look at church history— you realize that Hitchens was right in many ways. The history of Christianity has been a mixed bag historically: some very good behavior and some very bad behavior. Dr. John Dickson of the University of Sydney and visiting professor at Oxford has written a brilliant and balanced book called, 'Bullies and Saints: An Honest Look at the Good and Evil of Christian History,' that covers every century of church history. He joins Frank to reveal the truth about: The behavior of the first believers (they were “good losers”) Myths about Constantine How the religious freedom beliefs of Tertullian got to Thomas Jefferson Why slavery was eradicated and why it took so long The Crusades The Spanish Inquisition The real reason for the violence in Northern Ireland The worst scandal in church history The most unique ethical contributions of Christianity The most surprising discovery made by Dr. Dickson in his research Why bullies are common, but saints are not How our bad behavior implies a standard and our need for a Savior Get the book here: https://amzn.to/3cvMaRu And please check out Dr. Dickson's wonderfully produced podcast at undeceptions.com. The title of this episode is, "Bullies and Being Bullied, What Parent Need to Know."This topic is such an important one, and in doing their research they realized there is traditional bullying (in person) and there is cyber bullying (online). They found there is so much information on each type, that it can be overwhelming. They decided to break the two types into their own episodes, this is first one. They jump in by defining bullying to clarify what they are talking about because there can be some confusion. Bullying is unwanted aggressive behavior amongst children (can happen between adults too) involving  real or perceived power of balance and where the behavior  is repeated or has the potential to be repeated over time.Listen in to learn:- Why kids bully.- How quickly the balance of power can change and how it  happens more often than you think.- The various types of bullying (verbal, social, physical, cyber), along with examples of where and how it can happen.- That bullying is typically under reported and why kids refrain from reporting it. - Why it is so important  not to label kids as bullies OR victims.- Roles that kids  play in bullying situations.      - How one person can reinforce or change the trajectory of the bullying incidence.- Signs to look out for in your kids that they may be being bullied or your kid is bullying other kids. Any questions you have for Tara? Must we go on to infect new realms?” And this other CS Lewis quote from his 1963 essay "We might meet a species which, like us, needed Redemption but had not been given it. But would this fundamentally be more of a difficulty than any Christian's first meeting with a new tribe of savages? It would be our duty to preach the Gospel to them. For if they are rational, capable both of sin and repentance, they are our brethren, whatever they look like.” "Space exploration leads directly to religious and philosophical questions" – Carl Sagan from this BBC article. And the Son of Man, that thou visitest Him?"  Aldrin said later that NASA had asked him not to read the Bible passage, with the agency still reeling from a lawsuit (that was ultimately dismissed) brought by atheist activist Madalyn Murray O'Hair had claimed that a broadcast of astronauts reading from the Book of Genesis during the Apollo 8 mission violated the separation of church and state.

Bullies rarely ever see themselves, or their actions as being a bully. They often don't even realize what they are doing is negatively impacting someone. What if the bully actually needs help? Sometimes all it takes is for the bully to realize they are, in fact, a bully. Bullies don't want to think of themselves as a bully, and sometimes that is all it takes to change a bully's ways. Joey Mascio - Firmly Founded Coaching: website | instagram | facebook | tiktok

Investigate bullying at Hogwarts on this month's episode. In this episode, Emily and Katy talk with Ithaca College's Katharine Kittredge and Carolyn Rennie about the history of bullying and how it relates to the social and educational environment at Hogwarts. We talk about what makes a bully and how that conception has perhaps changed over time in the western world. Katharine explains how eighteenth-century writers tended to think of bullying as natural to children and inevitable in the school setting, especially where differences of privilege existed. The nineteenth century revised that view to consider bullying as a deviant behavior or the result of a problem in the bully's psychology, which is more like our view today. Carolyn discusses the modern and feminine forms of bullying, especially facilitated by social media, and the volatile context in which kids can be both bullied and bullies depending on the situation at any given moment. The Harry Potter stories' relationship to Tom Brown's School Days provokes a comparison of the way both portray boarding school bullying behavior. Katharine explains how bullying was regarded in the history of British boarding schools and how novels reflected real-world changes. Bullying was sometimes seen as a pedagogical strategy in institutions, as peer pressure was used to enforce social norms. We also talk about gender dynamics in the bullying in pre-Victorian school stories, and how boy-bullying and girl-bullying differed. Katharine and Carolyn point out where these echoes resound in the Harry Potter series and how they influence character development. We explore how bullying manifests in both generational and intergenerational relationships, including from teacher to student. Are Hogwarts bullies humanized over the course of the series? From class differences to race, gender, and a variety of intersectional identities, bullying reveals intricate social dynamics in the wizarding world that have lessons for us Muggles. Join us for a thorough discussion that does not leave J.K. Rowling's own words and actions unexamined. Stay after class for our special segment “Food Fight,” where we throw down over the question: Who is the bigger bully, James Potter or Severus Snape?

Secrets for an Awesome Life

Being bullied sucks, it really does. It's hard to find a way to deal with it - but I learned a way to counter the things bullies would say about me. I learned to own it. This didn't stop them from saying it, but it stopped it from having a major negative impact on the way I felt and thought about myself. I accepted it, but what made this effective was that I also accepted myself and I still loved myself for who I was. Being called moon head wasn't fun, but it never caused me to feel less than, it never made me hate the size of my head. Bullies will make fun of people for anything. The things we enjoy, the way we look, the way we act, these are all things a bully might pick on someone for. If we can own it, and accept ourselves we give people permission to accept who we are.Joey Mascio - Firmly Founded Coaching: website | instagram | facebook | tiktok

Kail and Lindsie talk about their children's items and the silly names that often come with them. Plus Lindsie tells a story about how Jackson's was almost lost! And when you become a parent it can be hard to know what your identity is outside of that. Kail and Lindsie discuss how hard it can be to find yourself, and how taking time for your own things outside of your kids can be frowned upon. And dealing with school bullies is hard, and it can be heartbreaking as a parent. Lindsie and Kail talk about how they have dealt with these types of situations, and how they have encouraged their kids to be open with them.
