In this episode, Jim walks through the shift that changed everything: from chasing returns to building freedom through ownership and control. He shares the early lessons—from a casket factory in Gary, Indiana to Wall Street boardrooms—that forced him to question the financial playbook most people follow. The real breakthrough? Understanding that freedom isn't about having more—it's about controlling what you already earn. 3 Takeaways: Ownership is leverage. Watching a business owner control time and capital changed Jim's view of wealth. It's not about working more—it's about owning the system. Control creates independence. Through Infinite Banking and cash-flow assets, Jim took back control from banks, brokers, and traditional planners. Noise is the enemy. Schools, media, and advisors push dependence. Freedom starts by questioning the script—and taking action. This episode is for anyone tired of playing defense. Listen, share, and hit subscribe to join a community that plays offense with money.

This week, we are re-releasing one of Redesigning Life's most well-received and downloaded episodes... Holly Whitaker : Quit Like A WomenHave you ever wondered why we reach for a drink during life's highest moments and lowest lows? Why does alcohol seem essential to celebrating a wedding, mourning a loss, or simply getting through a Tuesday? In this illuminating conversation with Holly Whitaker, author of "Quit Like a Woman", we explore the complex relationship many of us have with alcohol and how it might be affecting more than we realize. Holly shares her personal journey from someone who used alcohol, cigarettes, and food to "ruin herself and clean herself up" repeatedly to discovering a path toward genuine fulfillment without substances. What makes this discussion particularly powerful is the science Holly brings to the table. She explains how alcohol hijacks our dopamine system, making it difficult to experience pleasure from everyday activities and creating a false association between drinking and fun. "Alcohol doesn't actually produce fun," Holly reveals. "Fun things produce fun." This insight challenges the cultural narrative that positions alcohol as the essential ingredient for enjoyment.Beyond the science, Holly offers practical wisdom for anyone questioning their relationship with alcohol. Rather than advocating for an all-or-nothing approach, she emphasizes the power of subtle shifts in awareness and intention. By simply allowing yourself to notice alcohol's effects on your mood, sleep, and anxiety levels, you begin creating space for change.Whether you're sober curious, actively changing your relationship with alcohol, or simply interested in understanding its effects better, this episode offers thoughtful perspectives without judgment. As Holly reminds us, when we release what no longer serves us... whether it's alcohol, toxic relationships, or limiting beliefs, we create space for something better to arrive. What might be waiting on the other side of that glass for you? Listen in and consider what consciousness over cocktails could bring to your life.Holly's Website: https://www.hollywhitaker.com/Holly's Podcast: Co-RegulationHolly's book: QUIT LIKE A WOMANHolly's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hollyConnect with Sabrina:https://www.instagram.com/Sabrina_Soto/www.SabrinaSoto.com

Hey there! Welcome the the LDS Mission Podcast and to episode 213 - Navigating Tough Dynamics. Have you ever caught yourself labeling something as a problem—and suddenly it feels heavy, urgent, or unsolvable? In this episode, I share a powerful mindset shift that has helped me and so many missionaries I work with: what if it's not a problem... it's just a dynamic? Whether you're a missionary adjusting to a new transfer, a returned missionary navigating post-mission life, or a missionary mom experiencing a new phase of parenting, we all face tough dynamics that feel sticky or uncertain. This idea was inspired by a conversation with my daughter as she prepares to be the only child at home. Her tears, her worries, and her sadness reminded me how deeply our brains want to flag change as something scary. But viewing it as a dynamic—a situation in motion that we're learning to navigate—can create flexibility, empowerment, and grace for ourselves. I hope this episode helps you reframe some of the experiences you're having on the mission or in your life right now. Let's stop running into mental walls and start riding the waves of change. You were built for this. I believe in you. As always, if you found this episode helpful, I want to invite you to subscribe if you aren't already, share this episode with your friends and missionaries you know, and write a review. You're out in the real world, trying to “figure it out,” but instead, you feel lost, stuck. Everyone told you that once you got the degree, the path would appear. But here you are, overwhelmed, second-guessing, and unsure where to even begin. It's exhausting. You're watching others seemingly take off while you're still parked at the starting line. The pressure builds. Mentally, you're battling doubt. Financially, you feel the weight of responsibility. And the worst part? You want to start, but you just don't know how. That's where Taylor Clark was. Done with school. Spinning in circles. So she tried everything. Said yes to new experiences. Flirted with a bunch of paths. And then one call with Gary Vee changed her life. Not because he handed her a golden ticket, but because she finally picked her thing… and went all in. What if that one call, that one moment of clarity, could change your entire direction? Are you ready to stop floundering and start moving with purpose? What sacrifices are you willing to make to break through your barriers? In this episode, Taylor Clark joins me to discuss her journey, how her conversation with Gary Vee completely changed her world, and helped her find her path. Things You'll Learn In This Episode -Comparison is the thief of joy Your journey is unique, and comparison only distracts you from your own progress. What could you achieve if you focused entirely on your path instead of someone else's? -Genuine influence or vanity metrics A strong social media presence can give you a competitive edge, but vanity metrics like bought followers can distort true influence. How do we build genuine influence online instead of just chasing vanity metrics? -Three feet from gold Success is often just beyond the point where most people give up. What if the breakthrough you've been chasing is just one more step away? In this episode, I'm sharing 3 mindset shifts that helped me break free from hustle mode, rebuild trust in God over my grind, and find peace without losing progress. I had a moment recently where I finally admitted something that I think a lot of us feel deep down but rarely say out loud: "I need to slow down."But right after that thought came the usual flood of reasons why I couldn't slow down: too much to do, too many people counting on me, A business to build, goals I still haven't hit, and honestly...fear of falling behind.Maybe you've felt that too.In today's episode, I'm opening up about a conversation I had with God that completely checked my heart. He showed me something I didn't even realize I was doing: Trusting my hustle more than I was trusting Him.Whew.We're talking honestly about what that looks like, how it sneaks into our daily lives, and the quiet burnout it creates in our spirit...even when we're "doing good things."Inside this episode, I'm sharing 3 specific mindset shifts we can work on to:

If you're trapped in the exhausting cycle of all-or-nothing thinking around food and recovery, this episode will revolutionize your entire approach. Fresh back from vacation, Lindsey shares the powerful "Both/And Recovery" strategy that finally breaks you free from black-and-white extremes and helps you find the beautiful gray area where real healing happens. You'll discover why perfectionist recovery keeps you stuck, learn specific Both/And reframes for common recovery struggles, and walk away with a tangible 3-step practice to implement this week. This isn't about being perfect at recovery—it's about being human while healing. What You'll Learn ✨ Why all-or-nothing thinking keeps you trapped in recovery cycles ✨ The revolutionary Both/And approach that changes everything ✨ Specific reframes for "good vs. bad" food thinking ✨ How to hold space for fear AND commitment simultaneously ✨ Why the "gray area" is where your freedom actually lives ✨ A practical 3-step method to implement Both/And thinking this week Key Takeaways The All-or-Nothing Prison Your brain categorizes everything as perfect or disaster, on-track or off-track, good foods or bad foods. This binary thinking keeps you swinging between extremes and never experiencing the freedom you crave. The space between extremes isn't the danger zone—it's where all the magic happens. The Both/And Revolution You can hold two seemingly opposite truths simultaneously, and this is where real healing occurs. Recovery isn't about choosing sides—it's about embracing complexity and being beautifully, imperfectly human. Why This Changes Everything The Both/And approach removes the pressure that keeps you stuck. When you stop trying to be perfect at recovery, you actually start recovering. Recovery isn't about eliminating difficult thoughts—it's about learning to hold space for all of it. Powerful Both/And Recovery Examples Fear & Courage Instead of: "I have to be brave to start recovery" Both/And: "I can be both scared of recovery AND committed to it" Restriction & Nourishment Instead of: "I either restrict or I'm out of control" Both/And: "I can both want to restrict AND choose to nourish myself" Body Image Struggles Instead of: "I have to love my body all the time" Both/And: "I can both love my body AND have days when I struggle with it" Food Morality Instead of: "Foods are either good or bad" Both/And: "I can be both 'good' at eating AND have chaotic food days" Recovery Process Instead of: "I'm either perfect at recovery or failing" Both/And: "I can be both in recovery AND not perfect at it" Weight & Health Instead of: "I'm either fat or skinny" Both/And: "I can both be my natural weight AND not love every inch every day" Structure & Flexibility Instead of: "I need rigid routine or I'm lost" Both/And: "I can both crave routine AND need flexibility" Your Both/And Recovery Practice (This Week) Step 1: Notice Your All-or-Nothing Thoughts Catch yourself thinking in extremes about food, body, or recovery. Examples: "I ruined the day" "I'm either on track or off track" "I have to be perfect at this" Step 2: Practice the Both/And Reframe Transform extreme thoughts with "both/and" language: "I both had a challenging food day AND I can nourish myself at my next meal" "I both struggled today AND I'm still committed to my healing" Step 3: Choose Your Next Right Action From this Both/And space, take one small step toward recovery: Eat your next planned meal Call a friend for support Practice self-compassion instead of self-criticism Revolutionary Quotes to Remember "The gray area you've been afraid of? That's not the danger zone—that's where your freedom lives." "Recovery isn't about eliminating all the difficult thoughts and feelings. Recovery is about learning to hold space for all of it—the fear AND the courage, the struggle AND the strength." "The moment you stop trying to be perfect at recovery is the moment you actually start recovering." "You can both feel uncertain about this approach AND try it anyway. You can both be scared of letting go of control AND take one small step toward freedom." "Your recovery doesn't have to be perfect to be powerful. Your healing doesn't have to be linear to be real." Personal Story: Post-Vacation Recovery Evolution Lindsey shares her transformation from post-vacation restriction panic to flexible re-entry into routine. Learn how the Both/And approach allows you to both crave structure AND ease back into real life without rigidity—a perfect metaphor for recovery itself. The Science Behind Both/And Thinking Why All-or-Nothing Thinking Develops Eating disorders thrive on binary thinking Perfectionism creates impossible standards Black-and-white thoughts feel "safer" but create more suffering How Both/And Thinking Heals Reduces perfectionist pressure Allows for human complexity Creates space for growth and mistakes Normalizes the recovery process Ready to Live the Both/And Approach? If this episode resonated but you're unsure how to implement Both/And thinking in your daily recovery, you don't have to figure it out alone. Take Your Recovery to the Next Level: In Lindsey's one-on-one coaching, you'll dive deep into applying the Both/And approach to your specific struggles—trigger foods, difficult emotions, body image challenges, all of it. Because knowing about this approach and actually living it are two different things. Next Steps: Fill out a client application at www.herbestself.co to work together on finding your gray area, your Both/And space, where your real life and real recovery can finally coexist. Let's talk about radical acceptance—a concept that can completely shift your mindset in sobriety and in life. In this episode of No More Wasted Days, Heather and Sara dive into what radical acceptance actually means, how it helps you move through challenges without resistance, and why it's a powerful tool for staying alcohol-free. If you're struggling with emotions, self-judgment, or the need to control everything, this episode will give you the mindset shift you need to find more peace and freedom on your journey. What You'll Learn in This Episode: What radical acceptance is (and what it's not). Why acceptance doesn't mean giving up—but actually empowers you to take action. How resisting reality creates unnecessary suffering (and how to stop). Practical ways to start using radical acceptance in your alcohol-free journey. How to manage emotions, let go of judgment, and stop fighting what you can't control. Key Takeaways: Acceptance ≠ Approval – You don't have to like a situation to accept it and move forward. Control What You Can – The only thing you truly control is how you respond. Let Go of Judgment – Free yourself from labeling things as “good” or “bad” and just be. Practice Non-Attachment to Outcomes – Focus on what is, not the endless “what ifs.” Self-Compassion is Key – Treat yourself like you would a friend going through a tough time. Memorable Quotes: “Acceptance isn't giving up—it's choosing to move forward without wasting energy on resistance.” “When we resist what's happening, we create more suffering for ourselves.” “Letting go of judgment doesn't mean you're okay with something—it means you're freeing yourself from unnecessary emotional weight.” “You don't need to love your reality to accept it. Acceptance is what helps you move through it.” “Focus on ‘what is' instead of ‘what if'—because the ‘what ifs' will keep you stuck.” Resources Mentioned: Daymakers Community: Weekly coaching calls, private messaging threads, and a supportive community. As the school year gains momentum, it's easy for school leaders to fall into survival mode—abandoning the very rhythms that anchor sustainable growth, effective school operations, and confident leadership. In this episode of the Schools of Excellence Podcast, Chanie Wilschanski breaks down the essential distinction between anchors and enhancers, and why understanding this difference is critical for school directors managing high-pressure seasons. If you're facing a surge in enrollment, onboarding new staff, or navigating leadership fatigue, this episode will help you identify the systems, habits, and non-negotiables that protect your energy and peace of mind. Because running a private school, preschool, or early childhood center shouldn't mean always putting out fires—it means leading with intentionality, clarity, and control. What You'll LearnThe difference between anchors and enhancers—and why both matter for sustainable school leadershipHow to identify the leadership habits that protect you from burnout, second-guessing, and resentmentThe hidden cost of abandoning your routines during busy seasonsWhy survival mode becomes the default when systems are missingA simple way to assess where your school needs operational focusKey Insights1. Anchors create stability during chaos Anchors are the daily habits that ground you emotionally and mentally. For overwhelmed directors, these aren't luxuries—they're leadership tools. Anchors may look like prayer, walking, journaling, or quiet reflection. When the pressure is high, these are the habits that keep you rooted and resilient.2. Enhancers elevate—but they don't stabilize Massages, time with friends, or a night out can be wonderful enhancers, but they can't replace the foundational habits that regulate your mindset and sustain your ability to lead. Enhancers help you feel good, but they don't create consistency.3. Abandoning anchors leads to burnout When school leaders drop their anchors in exchange for hustle, the cost is high. Leadership becomes reactive. Decision fatigue sets in. You feel stuck, anxious, and resentful. Rebuilding your rhythms later will require far more energy than simply preserving them now.4. Your anchors are unique to you Chanie shares her personal anchors—prayer, walking, and meditation—and encourages leaders to identify their own. The true test? If you still do it when you're sick, traveling, or exhausted, it's likely an anchor.5. Systems—not hustle—drive confident leadership Real school leadership isn't about working harder. It's about installing rhythms and school systems that do the heavy lifting. When you lead from systems, not from stress, you create time freedom, better team accountability, and long-term sustainability.Memorable Quotes"When you stop doing your anchors, survival becomes a habit—and it's harder to come back from." – Chanie Wilschanski "Anchors aren't nice-to-haves. They're lifelines." "Leadership is about alignment, not exhaustion."Try This: 3 Steps to Identify Your AnchorsStep 1: Look at your stress habits What do you continue doing when you're sick, overextended, or traveling?
