This week on Autonomy Markets, Grayson Brulte and Walter Piecyk discuss their field work in Austin, Texas, where they rode in a Tesla Unsupervised Robotaxi and walked the Cybercab production line at Giga Texas.Together they experienced Tesla's unsupervised roboataxi operations in Austin, specifically the moment they hailed and rode in a fully unsupervised Tesla Robotaxi with no safety attendant and no chase car. Grayson and Walt noted the vehicle's smooth performance, its routing differences versus supervised rides, and the absence of Mad Max or Hurry driving modes in unsupervised operation.his led to a broader discussion on Tesla's Cybercab production readiness, with both noting that Tesla appears prepared to scale. The conversation then shifts to the competitive landscape, examining Uber's big week of autonomous vehicle partnership announcements and the company's positioning relative to Tesla, Waymo, and the broader autonomy economy.Closing out the conversation, Grayson and Walt discuss Waymo's expanding footprint, the structural advantages Tesla holds through its charging infrastructure and factory integration, and what the Cybercab ramp means for the autonomy economy.Episode Chapters00:00 Riding in a Tesla Unsupervised Robotaxi5:45 Robotaxi Ride Experiences (Both Supervised and Unsupervised)11:25 Tesla's Austin Depot19:58 Walking the Cybercab Production Line at Giga Texas26:43 Waymo in Austin29:24 Uber Needs an Autonomous Vehicle Tier31:07 Uber's Big Week of Partnership Announcements42:52 Zoox's Sudden Change in Narrative51:53 Wayve Partners with Qualcomm53:34 U.S. DOT is Embracing Autonomy56:44 Autonomous Trucking1:02:00 Foreign Autonomy Desk1:02:43 Next week Recorded on Friday, March 13, 2026--------About The Road to AutonomyThe Road to Autonomy is the definitive media brand covering the Autonomy Economy™. Last night in “Problem Solving In Riding And Training Q&A,” we had a really fun and practical conversation all about working through the everyday challenges that come up in riding and training. We talked about leg yield and why it is such an important exercise for building suppleness, straightness, and that all-important inside leg to outside rein connection. We also shared updates from the horse show, including some exciting firsts and honest reflections on what it feels like to get back out there and trust the process. We answered questions on rhythm, tempo, sitting trot, downward transitions, bending, relaxation, and how groundwork can help uncover what is really going on with your horse. We also talked about the mental side of riding, from patience and confidence to learning how to slow down, stay thoughtful, and make each ride count. It was such a good reminder that progress is rarely perfect, but every challenge gives us an opportunity to learn. I hope this episode leaves you feeling encouraged, inspired, and a little more confident in your own riding journey.Happy Riding,Amelia
One of the best places to ride in Texas is Big Bend. It's an expansive area in the southwestern U.S. that features mountains, deserts and canyons carved by the Rio Grande River. Big Bend National Park serves as the centerpiece, stretching for 1,250 square miles. A recent visit revealed the area's rugged beauty and timeless appeal. ECSTASY and Riding Your Horse with Barbara Carrellas [TESSA] In this episode of the Open Nesters podcast, I welcome back Barbara Carrellas, a vital voice in the conversation surrounding sex, aging, and our evolving desires. Five years since her first appearance on the show, Barbara shares her insights on not merely accepting aging but embracing it with an open heart and mind, becoming what she terms “open nesters.” We explore how our relationships—be they with our children, parents, or romantic partners—can transcend traditional definitions, opening us up to new possibilities and experiences. ECSTASY and Riding Your Horse Barbara reflects on the intersection of sexuality and aging, leaning into her expertise in Urban Tantra, a practice that integrates sexuality with a broader understanding of intimacy and connection. She emphasizes the importance of transition, inviting listeners to consider the shifts our bodies undergo as we age and the joy that can still be found amid these changes. Through her teachings, she encourages radical acceptance, asking us to look past perceived limitations and embrace the opportunities that come with aging, whether that's in our professional lives or our personal relationships. 2:16 Aging and Sexuality 6:03 Radical Acceptance and Adaptation 10:43 Embracing Childhood Dreams 12:52 Adapting to Change 18:04 The Power of Connection 24:17 Navigating Ecstasy and Difficulty 33:01 Finding New Possibilities A significant part of our discussion centers on Barbara's new book, “The Book of Ecstasy,” where she expands upon themes from her previous work, “Ecstasy Is Necessary.” This new installment delves into how pleasure is experienced differently throughout life and how these changes can open doors to new sources of joy and ecstasy. It's not only about maintaining a connection to our past desires but also about finding new ways to experience pleasure—what Barbara refers to as the “learning radical acceptance.” During our conversation, Barbara shares poignant personal stories, like her unexpected journey into horseback riding during the pandemic, which reminded her of the importance of pursuing childhood dreams. This narrative serves as a reminder that the things we once set aside can re-emerge in our lives in meaningful ways, fostering a sense of joy and excitement despite the physical challenges we may encounter. We touch on how the concept of ecstasy is not solely linked to pleasure but is also about being open to the paradoxes in life—the joy interwoven with grief, the light with the dark. Through Tantra, Barbara illustrates that ecstatic experiences can arise even from sorrow and loss, redefining our relationship with our emotions and experiences. We acknowledge how vital community support is, particularly in instances of health challenges, and how social media can provide a platform for shared experiences and encouragement. Finally, we discuss the nuances of ‘ecstasy drop’—the emotional downturn that can follow intense ecstatic experiences—and how to navigate this often-overlooked aspect of our emotional journeys. Barbara’s insights help illuminate paths for listeners who may feel overwhelmed by the highs and lows of life, encouraging them to seek support and connection. Through this enlightening dialogue, Barbara Carrellas provides listeners with ample permission to explore new aspects of intimacy, pleasure, and joy as they navigate the stages of their lives. She encourages us all to keep our hearts open and to trust that new and fulfilling paths await, supported by community and understanding. Uber has officially expanded its women-only matching feature across the United States, allowing both women riders and drivers to pair exclusively with other women for added comfort and safety. The rollout builds on a successful pilot and offers options such as requesting a woman driver, setting women‑only preferences, and even enabling teens to do the same. Despite facing a California class‑action lawsuit alleging discrimination against men, Uber says the feature answers longstanding safety concerns raised by women using the platform. From meeting at the University of Texas to early days flipping houses and working corporate jobs, to moving to Nashville for a record deal and starting over more than once, their journey has been full of faith, risk, and resilience. Through it all they’ve raised two boys, navigated the highs and challenges of the music business, and watched George score two No. 1 hits at country radio with “Mind On You” and “Cowboy Songs.” Now the adventure continues with a brand new collaboration with Luke Bryan “It Won’t Be Long,” proving that trusting the season and keeping fun at the center has been their secret weapon all along.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Breaking Barriers & Pioneering PursuitsOn the latest episode of Rising Tide, bodysurfer David Helvarg and board surfer Natasha Benjamin sit down with photographer, filmmaker, and journalist Sachi Cunningham — a woman who has spent more than two decades pointing her lens at the pioneers rewriting what's possible in big wave surfing.Cunningham helped build the LA Times video team from the ground up, producing the award-winning Chasing the Swell series and documenting the historic first women's heats at Mavericks, the legendary big wave break that rises from the deep-water canyon just south of San Francisco. Now living within earshot of Ocean Beach, she's putting the finishing touches on her first major documentary, Big Wave Women — a film tracking the hard-won fight for pay equity among the elite athletes drawn, or perhaps driven, to ride some of the most dangerous walls of water on the planet. The conversation ranges wide: the cameras she trusts in the impact zone, the technical and physical demands of shooting from inside the surf, and a recent piece she wrote examining the geology and marine ecosystems that make Mavericks not just a spectacle, but a living seascape. It's a session that goes well below the surface. Additional Resources Seasachi.com — Photographer and ocean swimmer Sachi Cunningham has spent two decades hurling herself into the savage, churning waters of Ocean Beach and Mavericks, camera strapped to her wrist, chasing the beauty buried inside the chaos — and emerging with images she hopes will make the rest of us remember that the sea doesn't just surround us, it lives inside us.Blue Frontier / Substack — Building the solution-based citizen movement needed to protect our ocean, coasts and communities, both human and wild.Inland Ocean Coalition — Building land-to-sea stewardship - the inland voice for ocean protectionFluid Studios — Thinking radically different about the collective good, our planet, & the future.

In this powerful episode, we sit down with Ashley Sanders — a nurse, horse trainer, and professional barrel racer who refuses to let a complex medical condition define her life. Ashley shares her journey living with cranio cervical instability and functional movement disorder, conditions that left her with frightening and debilitating symptoms — including episodes where her neck would completely lock up, leaving her unable to rotate her head at all. For years, Ashley searched for answers while navigating a medical system that often dismissed her symptoms or suggested they were psychological. Instead of giving up, she kept advocating for herself, pushing for testing, and seeking the truth behind what her body was experiencing. In this conversation, Ashley opens up about: • What her symptoms actually felt like • The frustration of being dismissed by the medical community • The tests that finally validated what she knew was real • How she continues to pursue her passion for horses and barrel racing despite the challenges Ashley's story is one of resilience, self-advocacy, and determination. If you've ever felt unheard in the medical system or wondered how someone keeps going when the answers aren't clear, this episode will inspire you.
00:00 Well, Zoran Mondani has got his problems up in New York. There's a new video out that shows Mondani's wife celebrating the October 7th attacks. We'll get to that coming up in a little bit. Let's go to Gerald in Calpins. Gerald, welcome. How are you? All right. Happy Friday, brother. You too. Charlie, back in the 50s, we had the measles, the mumps, and chickenpox. Right. 00:27 They'd rub us down with buttermilk and we survived, you know, there was no big deal. With buttermilk, I'd never heard of that, but I'm pretty sure they did. I appreciate it, Gerald. Thank you very much. Okay. Do you guys remember when President Trump in his first administration announced that he was creating the Space Force? Do you remember that? And do you remember how everybody made fun of Space Force? You remember them doing that? No one asks. 00:57 how we're gonna pay for this Space Force. There's no threat in space. Who are we fighting? Satellites? When Trump talks about Space Force, he makes it sound like we're gonna be on a rocket riding to the moon like, Space Force! Riding up down, a killing alien! Well, they're not laughing now. Because we are using Space Force in Iran. This might be the first time that Space Force was used. That's maybe, I don't know. We might have used it down in Venezuela. 01:28 But Space Force, with their technology and satellites, they are able to detect a rocket launch in Iran within milliseconds. Like pretty much exactly when it happens that it's detected, the coordinates are locked, and we send a missile to those coordinates and make sure that that rocket launcher or that rocket site 01:56 does not operate again. And it can also track the trajectory of the missile that was shot from that site. So when Donald Trump said, he said this a few months ago, he said, we've got weapons you've never, this was back before Venezuela. It was back before Venezuela. He said, we've got weapons nobody's even ever heard of. 02:22 He wouldn't go into specifics, of course, but he's like, you wouldn't believe the stuff we got. 02:29 So Space Force is being used, but there's another thing that's being used and that's Odin. O-D-I-N. Listen to this. This is cool as well. A US destroyer. are at least two destroyers deployed in Operation Epic Fury that are equipped with the Odin. It's a new laser seen here a few days ago. Odin blinds drone sensors causing them to crash. It's a last ditch weapon used to defend ships from drone attacks. 02:58 We're told it has not been used yet in Epic Fury. Now the US has deployed the EA-18G Growler to jam electronic signals causing dozens of Iranian drones to fall out of the sky and is using advanced precision laser guided rockets to shoot down drones from the air, ground or sea. The US and Israel do continue their offensive strikes against drone storage depots and launchers. CENTCOM released this video showing it destroying an Iranian drone carrier. 03:28 roughly the size of a World War II aircraft carrier. This multi-layered strategy counters Iran, which seemingly is trying to flood the zone with these cheap $35,000 Shaheed drones until the Gulf states run out of expensive counter drone munitions like the $4 million Patriot missiles. Ukraine is also helping to fight Iran's drones. is... So, pretty amazing. Just imagine... 03:57 Just imagine you're China, you're North Korea, you're Russia, whomever. Seeing they're going like, oh, oh, they got that. They got, they got those things. It reminds me of Dr. Evil. They've got lasers that can take out drones. We've got, we've got Odin, the God of the Dead. 04:26 We've got Space Force detecting rocket launches within a millisecond of them being launched. I'm telling you what, I wouldn't even, I don't even think that's the extent of it. I think that's just the stuff that they're showing off. Hey, look at that. Hey, hey, hey, Fox News, come here, let me show you this. Let me show you, no, don't look behind there. No, just look a ...

This Hump Day Wednesday gets deliciously wicked as I play one of G's fantasies that had me grinning the whole time.
Ken Condon describes himself as a commuter, tourer, an off-road rider, a track-day instructor, road racer, an ice rider, a drag racer, and “plain old street rider.” Truth is, as wide-ranging as that description may sound, it barely scratches the surface of the many things Condon has done not just on a motorcycle but, more importantly, for his fellow motorcyclists. Ken is the author of two books, “Riding in the Zone” and “Motorcycling the Right Way.” The latter is a compilation of the “Proficient Motorcycling” columns published in Motorcycle Consumer News. “I wrote that column for 14 years—2,800 words, plus photos, every month,” he tells “Driven to Ride” host Mark Long. Condon also penned “Street Strategies” for the same title. That's to say Condon has devoted most of his life to not only becoming a better rider himself but to helping others become better riders. “‘The well is very deep' is what I tell my students,” he says. “You can choose to swim on the surface and tread water, or you can dive deep and get down there and see what it's all about. And there's an awful lot there. It just goes, and goes, and goes.” Riding In The Zone Website Ken Condon on Facebook Connect with Us:Website: www.driventoridepodcast.comInstagram: www.Instagram.com/driventoridepodcastFacebook: www.facebook.com/driventorideEmail:hello@driventoridepodcast.com
Looking to learn new fingerstyle blues tunes to play on your acoustic guitar? This is a rundown of my favorite fingerstyle blues repertoire books. Hopefully you have already seen my previous video of “Best Fingerstyle Blues Method Books.” Method books provide a guided course of study with explanatory text, exercises, example tune arrangements, etc. In this video I will be talking about my favorite fingerstyle blues repertoire books, which simply provide tune arrangements and possibly some background info for each tune. I've been through many, many books, and I have been teaching and performing professionally for over a decade, so hopefully my insights can help guide you to the book that is best for you! Be aware that all of these repertoire books provide standard notation and tablature, and most of them do NOT provide any picking or fretting hand fingering. Working out optimal fingering is extremely important when learning an arrangement – good fingering choices make playing easier and minimize the potential for mistakes. Best Repertoire Books 1) The Complete Acoustic Blues Guitar Method (Mann, 2014) Repertoire book that presents lots of tunes from across the many subgenres of fingerstyle blues. These are solid arrangements that occasionally provide multiple choruses to show variations- this is extremely valuable for extending short tunes into performance length pieces. It is also worth analyzing the author's variations so that you can learn to create your own! Late beginner to advanced, but majority of the tunes are of an intermediate difficulty. I really like the organization of the book: tunes are organized by subgenre, and within each section the tunes are arranged from easiest to hardest. Each tune comes with nice historical background info and listening recommendations. 2) 12-Bar Fingerstyle Blues (Rubin, 2012) Repertoire book. Mostly intermediate. More repetitive grooves than some of the other fingerstyle blues books on the market. Fewer lyrical phrases in the melodies. I like that the tunes organized by subgenre, but the difficulty jumps around from tune to tune. For experienced players, this is a fast book to work through. Because each tune is a 12-bar chorus, you will get a lot of ideas that you can digest, combine, and make your own in the future. Next, I want to introduce a special book that doesn't quite fit into the simple “Repertoire Book” category: 3) The New Art of Ragtime Guitar (Saslow, 2011, 2017 2nd Ed.) This book is essentially a repertoire book of ragtime blues tunes, but the analysis that accompanies each tune is extensive and extremely valuable. Late beginner to advanced and difficulty progresses with each tune. These tunes are really fun, and you will gain valuable insight from the analysis. The author coaches you through fingering choices, his use of guide, anchor, or pivot fingers, etc. These lessons will make you a better player. 4) Fingerstyle Blues Songbook (James, 2005) Another repertoire book with good arrangements and historical background info. Honestly, it's not all that much different from Woody Mann's The Complete Acoustic Blues Guitar Method, but this book is much shorter. Late-beginner to intermediate, although advanced players will certainly enjoy the tunes as well. 5) Complete Country Blues Guitar Book (Grossman, 1992) Repertoire book. Good arrangements. Lots of authentic tunes. Stefan Grossman is an incredible musicologist who helped rediscover and promote much of the old fingerstyle blues music of the 1920s and 30s. I really like the interviews and historical information that he has included making this a great coffee table book. Late-beginner to intermediate. Tunes organized by subgenre. Strange TAB. *6) Solo Blues Guitar (Rubin, 2006) Repertoire – I'm putting this book at the end because it is NOT a fingerstyle blues guitar book. The examples can be played fingerstyle, but most seem to work best with a plectrum/pick/flatpick. However, I want to include this book for a couple reasons: It is focused on solo blues guitar arrangements I LOVE this book. These examples are fun and they inspire me to improvise in new ways with new grooves. Like Rubin's 12-Bar Fingerstyle Blues, these tunes also feature repetitive grooves alternating with melodic lines and licks, rather than choruses focused on lyrical melodies. My own books: Fingerstyle Blues Guitar: An In-Depth Study of the 12-Bar Blues in E Major – Books 1 and 2 are available in paperback or eBook through Amazon [https://a.co/d/g7Udsso (Book 1) and https://a.co/d/aDbh4H0 (Book 2)]. The first priority of these books is to quickly get you playing a solo instrumental 12-bar blues, & then to build on it until you can freely improvise or “jam.” You should be up and running by the end of the third chapter, and each following chapter will add icing on the cake. Arranging for Fingerstyle Guitar: go to http://joemcmurray.com/checkout/ to purchase a pdf of my eBook. Arranging for Fingerstyle Ukulele, will be published by Mel Bay in 2026. On Monday, Manhattan Institute fellow Chris Rufo posted this: "The Right's collective brain is getting melted in a vat of slop, conspiracy, and algorithm-chasing. An intelligent man will guard himself against all of it." Given that Rufo was, after J.D. Vance, perhaps the most prominent Haitians-are-eating-pets-in-Ohio conspiracy theorist in the country, his complaint generated many, many responses rightfully calling him out for his lack of self-awareness and his own role in mainstreaming such a politics. As our friend John Ganz wrote, "Is this hypocrisy, stupidity, or unabashed malevolence? Try all three: it's politics. Specifically, it's the politics of the American Conservative Movement. People cry out for a new William F. Buckley. Give the title to Rufo, I say; he's doing the job already." In this episode we talked to Ganz about how the dynamic Rufo identified has always been a feature of the postwar conservative movement, stretching back at least to William F. Buckley, Jr. and Brent Bozell's defense of McCarthyism; what's distinctive about the Right's present slop era, especially the alignment of conservative movement propagandists, the Republican Party, and the state; populism and the "Madisonian model"; and more!
