As we move through January 2026, the "All-In" equity trade is facing a rotation, silver is behaving like a high-octane meme stock, and even the most obscure products like Rough Rice are seeing double-digit vol spikes. Whether you are hedging a portfolio against an earnings-season sell-off or looking to harvest high premiums in the metals, this episode provides the professional analysis you need to separate the wheat from the Lean Hogs. Episode Highlights The Movers & Shakers: A Tale of Two Tapes The Jedi (Light Side) are winning this week, but the Sith (Dark Side) struck the hardest blows in percentage terms. The Dark Side: Natural Gas plummeted 23.9%, Bitcoin dropped 6.3%, and the Russell 2000 took a breather after a massive YTD run. The Light Side: Silver stole the show, rallying over 20% on the week. WTI Crude and Brent both surged ~10%, while Palladium saw a double-digit rebound. Zero-Day Obsession: Despite the 0DTE craze, the "Big Dog" trade this week was the 6,600 Puts in the E-mini S&P, expiring in 22 days—a massive hedge against upcoming tech earnings. Energy: Crude is Back on the Menu WTI Crude hit a rare 1-million contract week. The Conflict Trade: With Middle East tensions rising, traders are aggressive in the March 70 and 75 calls, betting on an $80 handle by summer. Volatility Alert: Crude vol in March is currently sitting at 56.7, up nearly 14 points on the week. Metals: Silver's "Meme Stock" Era Silver is up over 400% in three years, leading Uncle Mike to label it the new meme stock of the commodities world. Historic Volatility: Silver vol is currently at a staggering 107.2. The Upside Play: Massive flow in the March 120 calls (only 7 handles away!) as traders chase the vertical spike. The Curveball: Rough Rice? In a TWIFO first, the panel explores the esoteric world of Rough Rice options. This week on Ron's Amazing Stories, we set sail with Trade Winds, a globe-trotting mystery filled with romance, danger, and old-school Hollywood polish. Originally released as a motion picture in 1938 by United Artists, Trade Winds was directed by Tay Garnett and based on his own story. The film starred Fredric March and Joan Bennett and delivered a stylish murder mystery that spanned oceans and continents. Tonight's presentation comes from Lux Radio Theatre, which adapted the story for radio and first broadcast it on March 4, 1940. This version stars Errol Flynn as Sam Wye, a charming, globe-hopping detective on the trail of a fugitive heiress—played once again by Joan Bennett. The cast also features Mary Astor and Ralph Bellamy, making this a true Hollywood showcase brought straight to the airwaves. We'll also wrap things up with a listener Q&A, where Ron shares why old time radio remains such a powerful—and personal—connection to history. Sit back, relax, and let the trade winds carry you away. In This Episode An introduction to Trade Winds and its 1938 film origins A look at Lux Radio Theatre and its Hollywood radio adaptations Errol Flynn takes the lead as globe-trotting detective Sam Wye A listener question about Ron's passion for old time radio Why classic radio dramas are time capsules worth revisiting Ron's Amazing Stories Is Sponsored by: Audible - You can get a free audiobook and a 30 day free trial at audibletrial.com/ronsamazingstories. Clay Edwards delivers a passionate closing rant, urging listeners to reject compromise with Democrats and choose sides in what he frames as a battle between good and evil. He warns against negotiating with "terrorists" over demands for ICE reform, insisting there's no gray area in politics—only right and wrong. Critiquing the outdated notion of "crossing the aisle," Edwards argues Democrats would never reciprocate and calls for unyielding resistance, even suggesting a metaphorical "right cross" instead of bipartisanship. He highlights media efforts to rewrite history, portraying Trump as a Nazi and MAGA as racist, and emphasizes drowning out the noise to focus on core issues like immigration enforcement and election integrity. Edwards points to recent setbacks for Democrats, including revelations about Alex Pretti's aggressive behavior and evidence of 2020 election fraud in Fulton County, declaring it a "bad day to be a Democrat." He condemns Democratic threats, such as prosecuting Trump with the death penalty or arresting ICE agents, and calls out media allies who side against ICE, demanding they pick good over evil. Stressing consequences for law-breaking, he rallies supporters to stay focused amid distractions like Epstein conspiracies, warning that midterm losses could lead to Trump's impeachment or exile. The rant ends with a call to action: tell opponents to "kiss your ass" and recognize the fight's ugliness for a better future.

    296. Why Success Is Lonely, Even When Everything Is "Working" | Colette Davenport

Why success is lonely. It's often not for the reasons you think. Many high-caliber leaders find themselves in periods of collapse and losing their mojo. It's rarely talked about at the top. Yet, it's increasingly common. In this episode, Colette Davenport, a private metaphysician to high-caliber leaders and power players, joins Julian Hayes II for a raw, expansive conversation on what happens when the strategies, identities, and systems that once drove success suddenly stop working.Colette describes what she calls the void: an internal collapse that can't be solved by hustle, intellect, therapy, or even peak performance tools. Drawing on her own experience and her work with high-level leaders, she explains why these moments aren't failures but, instead, evolutionary thresholds.Together, they explore why ambition eventually turns inward, how identity quietly shapes success and isolation, and what it really takes to rebuild from a place deeper than strategy. This episode reframes burnout, success, and power, not as problems to fix, but as invitations to transform. This is a grounded, honest conversation about wealth, health, identity, and what leaders unknowingly pass on, unless they choose to do the work.— Episode Chapter Big Ideas (timing may not be exact) —0:00 – Introduction and 2025 reflections2:45 – The quiet collapse happening inside high performers6:30 – Why intellect, hustle, and conventional tools stop working10:55 – When success feels empty despite external wins15:40 – Surrender vs. effort: knowing when to stop pushing20:10 – Do leaders need to hit rock bottom to evolve?24:30 – Soul wounds: the invisible identity driving success and collapse29:45 – Why patterns show up in money, relationships, or health34:20 – “Soul surgery”: how identity actually gets rebuilt41:10 – Emotional processing vs. intellectual understanding47:00 – Why addictions, endurance sports, and intensity can become escapes53:40 – Childhood moments that silently shape adult identity58:00 – Redefining power beyond ego and status1:01:30 – The first honest question leaders must ask themselves1:07:15 – Riding the wave instead of fighting it1:09:00 – Where to connect with Colette— Key Quotes from Colette Davenport — “The harder I worked, the further away everything became.”“We don't go back to who you were. Review #27: Roots and Blues Fingerstyle Guitar Explorations by Steve James

Is this one of the best or worst method or repertoire books for learning to play acoustic fingerstyle blues guitar? You can learn to play music using a variety of resources including teachers, online resources, and books. Roots and Blues Fingerstyle Guitar Explorations by Steve James is a hybrid repertoire/method book for learning to play fingerstyle and bottleneck blues.  This book is suitable for late beginner to advanced fingerstyle players but is best for intermediate players.  I would definitely not recommend this book for complete beginners – it starts out too hard for inexperienced fingerstyle players.  The book offers some technical advice as well as fun historical anecdotes and quotes. There are a bunch of fingerstyle blues books on the market, and I would generally not recommend this book over some of the others.  On the positive side of things, this book excels in its material focused on open tunings and bottleneck slide.  If you watch the included videos, you'll see that the author is an incredible bottleneck slide player, and that is reflected in these chapters.  On the other hand, I do not like multiple things about this book. The difficulty progression isn't very smooth – the book starts out with some difficult (late beginner/intermediate) tunes, and then the difficulty varies from tune to tune.  Part of this is because the open tuning arrangements (starting in the middle of the book) are a bit easier to play. There aren't a lot of exercises.  There are some, but this is more of a repertoire book with analysis and technical advice in the text. I'm not a fan of the way that Acoustic Guitar Magazine lays out their books.  They don't integrate their text and playing examples.  Instead of text that prepares you for an example, then the example, then more text, then the next example, etc., they usually have the text in a big block, and that text will refer you to the examples which are together in another block.  It requires more jumping back and forth for the reader.  It's not the end of the world, but it's not my favorite. Late-beginner fingerstyle players could utilize Roots and Blues Fingerstyle Guitar Explorations as a supplement to a traditional method book: A general fingerstyle method like Alfred's “Beginning Fingerstyle Guitar,” or A more focused method like Bruce Emery's “Travis-Style Guitar from Scratch.” Roots and Blues Fingerstyle Guitar Explorations provides both treble clef and tablature for each arrangement.  Neither fretting nor picking hand fingering is provided in the music, but it is sometimes mentioned in the separate text.  You can usually tell which notes should be played with your thumb by looking at the treble clef – bass notes generally have down stems.  Regardless, the skill of choosing sensible fingering is important, and you will need to look elsewhere to further develop this skill. Videos demonstrating the examples are available online.  These are great.  For me, it was especially helpful while working through the bottleneck slide chapter. © 2014 by Steve James. Produced by String Letter Media in association with the Acoustic Guitar Magazine. My own books: Fingerstyle Blues Guitar: An In-Depth Study of the 12-Bar Blues in E Major – Books 1 and 2 are available in paperback or as an eBook through Amazon [https://a.co/d/g7Udsso (Book 1) and https://a.co/d/aDbh4H0 (Book 2)].  The first priority of these books is to quickly get you playing a solo instrumental 12-bar blues, and then to build on it until you can freely improvise or “jam.” You should be up and running by the end of the third chapter, and each following chapter will add icing on the cake. Arranging for Fingerstyle Guitar: go to http://joemcmurray.com/checkout/ to purchase a pdf of my eBook.  Learning to arrange melodies will also help your fingerstyle songwriting and your understanding of the inner workings of fingerstyle guitar. A priest walking home alone heard an army approaching and hid behind the trees. When he looked out, he saw women bouncing on saddles of red-hot nails and dead knights riding in black fire.IN THIS EPISODE: On January 1st, 1091, an army of the dead came to Normandy. For one priest, it would be a night that he would never forget. (The Medieval Walking Dead) *** Despite what we are led to believe from movies and television, cemeteries, graveyards, and churchyards, are actually quite peaceful places with no reason to be haunted anymore than any other plot of land. They are, in fact, meant to be resting places – not restless places. Repton Village chuchyard in Derbyshire apparently never received that memo. (The Ghosts of Repton) *** Office romances are nothing new. Sadly, neither is sexual harassment in the work place. And apparently in the 1800s, a forty-something boss could try to seduce a 15-year-old worker. And if you guessed that didn't turn out well for anyone, you'd be right. (A Weight of Grief) *** Men, admired and emulated Camille Flammarion, and many a woman swooned over him. Which is kind of an odd thing if you think about it – seeing as the man was consumed by thoughts of death. (The Mystery of Death) *** What is it like after we die? Is there life after death? And can science ever get onboard with the idea despite testable evidence? Riding the Waves: Why "Boring" Weeks Kill Your Business (And What to Do About It)Quick SummaryIn this candid solo episode recorded during a tight one-hour window, Kelsey reflects on eight years of podcasting and shares raw insights about her recent panic spiral in December, the beauty of business inconsistency, and a game-changing mastermind lesson: if your life is boring, your content will be too. This episode is a masterclass in showing up even when you don't feel inspired. In This EpisodeCelebrating 8 years and 400 episodes of podcastingKelsey's December panic attack: white space, scarcity mindset, and discount codes she regretsWhy the "best thing about entrepreneurship is inconsistency"The accountability power of having a team and manufactured deadlinesHow to hold yourself accountable when you're your own bossA pivotal mastermind lesson with Lori Harder on creativity and content creationWhy your boring routine is killing your content (and what to do about it)The Stan's Fries epiphany: doing one thing exceptionally wellHow to create "life as content" without filming everythingKey TakeawaysConsistency beats perfection: Kelsey has shown up every week for 8 years, even when she didn't know what to say. The key is manufacturing accountability through team commitments and deadlines.Business inconsistency is a feature, not a bug: Unlike a job that pays the same $4K/month regardless of effort, entrepreneurship allows you to make $100 one month and $100K the next. Embrace the waves.Panic during slow seasons is normal but temporary: Kelsey's December panic (giving out discount codes, feeling like AI was making her obsolete) lasted 2-3 weeks. By January, business was back to normal. Don't make permanent decisions based on temporary feelings.Boring life = boring content: If your week is the same routine on repeat (desk, Zoom, dinner, bed), you'll have nothing interesting to share. Creativity requires white space, new experiences, and intentional "doing cool shit."Stay in your lane unapologetically: The Stan's Fries lesson—do one thing exceptionally well and don't waver when people ask you to expand. They only sell fries with salt and vinegar. No ketchup, no credit cards, no apologies.Memorable Quotes"The best thing about being a business owner is the inconsistency. Let me say that again: the best thing about being a business owner is the inconsistency.""If you look at your life right now and your life looks pretty boring, my guess is that your content isn't hitting.""We often build confidence by keeping the promises we make to ourselves."Resources MentionedKelsey's Website: KelseyReidl.comKelsey's Podcast: Rain or Shine (350+ episodes featuring Canadian entrepreneurs)Instagram: @KelseyReidlMentor Collective Mastermind by Lori and Chris HarderWave Mastermind (Kelsey's mastermind program)Rachel Melinda (DJ and content creator example)Stan's Fries (local fry shop in Kelsey's town)About the HostKelsey Reidl is an entrepreneur, fractional CMO, and host of Rain or Shine (formerly Visionary Life). 1988 was a transformative year for Tom Cruise. In July he headlined the forgettable guilty pleasure that is “Cocktail,” and at year's end he co-starred with Dustin Hoffman in Barry Levinson's critically-acclaimed “Rain Man.” The highest grossing film of the year, winning the Academy Award for Best Picture (among others), “Rain Man” catapulted Cruise's career to the next level and the paradigm-shifting movie star never looked back. Riding shotgun in the Buick Roadmaster, David O'Sullivan joins Dennis to argue that underwear is underwear wherever you buy it, whether in Cincinnati or wherever. Dedicated to Jim Camlek. In part two of Red Eye Radio with Gary McNamara and Eric Harley, more than 235 million people across more than 40 states from Arizona to Maine are in the path of a potentially historic winter storm that's expected to extend over 2,000 miles and deliver crippling snow and ice, beginning Friday. A trailing blast of Arctic air associated with the polar vortex is expected to bring a dangerous refreeze that could create long-duration power outages and paralyze travel for days. In anticipation for the intense storm, as of 9 p.m. EST Thursday, nearly 1,300 flights have already been canceled across the U.S. through Saturday, with thousands more expected to be canceled into early next week. Also Texas Governor Greg Abbott says the power grid in Texas will sustain potential loss of power and a subsequent discussion on solar and wind power. Plus seven House Democrats break with Hakeem Jeffries to pass the Department of Homeland Security funding bill, Vice President JD Vance visits Minnesota and a big weekend of football ahead as the NFC/AFC championship will determine who heads to the Superbowl next month where Bad Bunny will wear a dress at the Half Time Show. This week's Q&A was a fun mix of behind the scenes Florida move updates, rider position chat, and a really great discussion on groundwork. We talked about using the inside leg on a circle and why it isn't something you hold on constantly. Instead, the idea is a "breathing leg" so your horse stays responsive and balanced. From there we break down the “point and shoot” idea for turning, pointing the line of travel first, then sending the horse forward from a balanced moment with the legs while the hands allow. We also answer questions about half halts on hot horses, there's a great discussion around fussy contact and we share why groundwork and lunging can be such a helpful support for horses that are still finding their balance. We touch on simple ways to release tension in your lower back, including an easy stretch at the walk and the wood and jelly idea to help you notice when you're locking up. We also reflect on why groundwork matters so much, not just for training, but for real life moments like travel, loading, and busy environments, when you really need your horse to feel confident and connected. Thanks so much for listening and being part of this community. I'm really grateful you're here.Happy Riding,AmeliaPS. Sunday is the last day to join the Groundwork Superpack, check it out here!

Frank Solomon is a world-renowned big wave surfer, ocean adventurer, and the founder of Sentinel Ocean Alliance. Raised on the rugged coastline of South Africa, Frank has ridden some of the most dangerous waves on Earth, from Mavericks in California to the legendary Dungeons in Hout Bay. But beyond pushing the limits of human courage, he has dedicated his life to protecting the ocean and empowering coastal communities through education, safety, and conservation. In this powerful and grounded episode, Frank takes us deep into the world of big wave surfing and ocean stewardship, exploring: What it takes mentally, physically, and emotionally, to ride waves over 50 feet tall The unique danger and beauty of Dungeons, one of the world's most feared big wave surf breaks How fear becomes a tool rather than an obstacle in extreme environments Why the ocean is not just a playground, but a living system under real threat How Sentinel Ocean Alliance is transforming coastal communities through ocean education, safety training, and conservation initiatives What everyday people can do to reconnect with, respect, and protect the sea, even if they never surf This is a raw, reflective, and inspiring conversation about courage, humility, and responsibility, where adventure meets advocacy, and where loving the ocean means standing up for it.

#202 - What if one hard rule could change the way you face everything from headwinds to heartbreak? I sat down with author and adventurer Teri Brown to unpack how a 3,102-mile tandem bike ride across America helped her leave an abusive past, reclaim her voice, and build a set of life rules sturdy enough to carry her through grief.Starting in Astoria and crossing Lolo Pass into Big Sky country, Teri and her husband Bruce pedaled through pandemic uncertainty, logistics stress, and days so hot the road rippled. Riding tandem forced a new kind of honesty: shared cadence, three-count stand breaks, and zero room for simmering resentment. A Dollar General parking lot became a place to name a hurt and move on. Montana gifted them wonder—horses racing uphill beside them, the Milky Way hanging close, and Comet NEOWISE blazing a tail across the night sky. Those moments of awe refueled their grit when flats stacked up and the wind turned cruel.Out of the ride came Ten Little Rules for a Double-Butted Adventure. “Never quit on a bad day” stopped a mid-ride collapse after three flats; “Do hard things” later became a mantra as Bruce faced glioblastoma. Terry read from the book at his bedside; he passed as she spoke those words, a final gift that still gets her up when grief says stay down. The finish line in Washington, D.C. unlocked a deeper shift: the question changed from “Can I?” to “What do I want?” She chose authorship, publishing novels that explore identity, war, resilience, and healing. If you're navigating burnout, rebuilding after loss, or wrestling with self-doubt, this conversation offers practical resilience, relationship tools, and a fresh definition of adventure: bigger than your plans, kinder than your fear, and honest about the work. When Kerry received a diabetes diagnosis and was offered a shot, she felt a quiet check in her spirit—convicted there was another way. She chose whole foods, consistent movement, and faith in God's possibility. Result: 31 pounds lost and A1C lowered naturally—no meds needed. But like so many of us, Kerry still struggled with evenings—that tired pull toward a "reward" snack when the day finally winds down. In this episode, Alisa coaches Kerry (and us) on why evening cravings hit hard, what's happening biologically after dinner, and how to meet those moments with kindness, wisdom, and Spirit-led alternatives.
