In the latest episode of our podcast, we had the honor of sitting down with Jack, a dedicated husband, father, and tech sales coach who is on a mission to empower Christians to launch successful careers in tech sales. This episode is packed with inspiration, practical advice, and valuable insights for anyone looking to transform their career while keeping their faith at the forefront. A Journey of Transformation Jack's story is one of redemption and transformation. Growing up in a military family, he faced the challenges of constant relocation and the instability that often accompanies military life. It was during this time that he experienced a profound encounter with the Holy Spirit, leading him to commit his life to Jesus. He believes that many job seekers fall into the trap of waiting for opportunities to come to them, rather than taking proactive steps to reach out and showcase their value. This insight is especially relevant for those looking to break into tech sales, a field that offers significant potential for growth and success. Jack encourages listeners to adopt a mindset of ownership. He shares practical strategies for networking, including the importance of personal connections and the value of mentorship. By building relationships within the industry, job seekers can fast-track their success and navigate career transitions with confidence. Startups vs. Established Companies Another key discussion point in this episode is the difference between working for startups and established companies. Jack outlines the pros and cons of each, highlighting that while startups may offer higher pay and faster career advancement, they come with increased risks. Conversely, established companies provide stability and structured career development but may have lower salary offerings. For anyone contemplating a career move, this detailed analysis offers valuable insights into making informed decisions based on personal goals and risk tolerance. Practical Tips for Daily Success In the hustle of daily life, Jack shares how he maintains his relationship with God and prioritizes family. He discusses the challenges of balancing work and personal commitments, emphasizing the need for intentionality in nurturing one's spiritual life. Jack's practice of setting aside time for prayer and reflection serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of grounding our lives in faith. If there's one thing I've learned in the realm of psychedelic medicines, it's that it REALLY helps to have a solid foundation of spiritual practice before connecting with these medicines. The truth is that much of what we face in these experiences is going to be challenging & by allowing yourself to tap into modalities such as breathwork & fasting, for instance, beforehand, you prime yourself with the necessary experience to handle these challenges & come out seeing them happen for you, rather than to you. Todays guest on the show is a man who along with having an incredible spiritual foundation from which he teaches & trains from, is no stranger to challenging experiences within the realm of psychedelic medicines & in this episode, we dive right into some of these experiences, what he's learned as a result of them, how breathwork & fasting has supported him in these experiences & much, much more. https://www.highlyoptimized.me

Clint Riggin is a successful entrepreneur, coach and is now diving deep into his faith in seminary school. Earlier in life, he struggled with drug abuse, partying, hanging around the wrong people and suicide contemplation. It was when he surrendered his life to Christ when he began to see substantial change in his life for the better and a greater purpose for his existence. In this episode, we first unpack Clint's crazy upbringing where he enlisted in the Navy and professionally competed in bodybuilding, but then turned to drugs, partying and alcohol to be seen by society. This led him down a dark path of depression and questioning his life. He knew that he needed to make a change. Clint decided to travel across the United States where he met his future mentor. This mentor prayed over him and opened his eyes to a better life with Christ at the center. Clint then began to change the way he operated, his beliefs and the people he surrounded himself with. Clint and Matt discuss the power of faith and mentorship, and how both can create life changing transformations for anyone. Clint is also a successful entrepreneur and brings a ton of value to the listener. He is currently training for a HYROX race so we also hit on the training and mental fortitude needed to succeed in that event.

Be scared and do it anyway. Be under-qualified, and get in the room anyway. Be messy, imperfect, and unsure and show up anyway. Comfort is the enemy of growth. Get uncomfortable. Growth requires learning. Learning requires us to attempt things we've not tried before. Along the way, there will be missteps, mistakes, and failures. In this episode we speak with Nedd Brockmann. The 25 year old sparky captured the attention of the country in 2022 when he ran from Perth to Sydney, raising $2.5 million for homelessness in the process. With a second book and a Kayo documentary in the works, he's now come up with a new way to challenge himself - and hopefully break a world record. Hosting the conversation with Brockmann is Good Weekend senior writer Konrad Marshall. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Comfort zones are comfy, sure, but they stifle growth. I'm done playing it safe. My new strategy? Embrace the uncomfortable. Visualizing myself crushing that goal is step one. Next, I'm hacking my habits with tiny challenges, like that public speaking class I keep avoiding. Finally, I'm surrounding myself with people who will push me further. Time to ditch the comfort zone and become unstoppable! Show Notes: [03:15]#1 Identify your enemy. [12:14]#2 You must force behavioral changes. [18:25]#3 Leverage external forces. When's the last time you were UNCOMFORTABLE, OR PUT YOURSELF IN A POSITION TO BE UNCOMFORTABLE in your work? Discomfort = growth, and comfort = stagnation. The people doing the most growing are the ones that submit to spiritual and personal growth, like having a group of fellow Christ followers, who challenge them and hold them accountable, in their professional life, their leadership and business. You know what they say, if you're not growing, you're dying. The wisdom of Proverbs 27:17 says As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. John Maxwell said it best: If we're growing, we're always going to be out of our comfort zone. What will YOU do this week, in your professional life, to be challenged and GROW?

NOTES: Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls James 1:19-21 (NLT) Offenses will certainly come. Luke 17:1 (CSB) HOW CAN WE STOP BEING OFFENDED? 1. GET COMFORTABLE BEING UNCOMFORTABLE 2. LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS OF PEOPLE For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 2 Timothy 3:2-4 (NLT) 3. RAISE YOUR GRATITUDE FOR GOD'S GRACE For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV) BOTTOM LINE: We want to take offense into our OWN hands. Faith puts offense in GOD'S hands. CHALLENGE: Surrender your right to be offended.

We had a fantastic conversation about his book, the technologies his company uses to help their clients achieve results in business and life like never before, manifesting your dreams, defining your values, creating a sense of destiny, and the importance of love & congruency. When I read Swords of Illumination I knew right away how powerful his book was. It is set in the Edo period of Japan and tracks the journey of young Yoshi on his path to becoming a great Samurai. It speaks directly to the human condition of finding purpose, living up to and defining your values, doing the right actions to uphold your values, and ultimately living life as the person you know you can truly be.Please be sure to check out Samurai Success and the services they offer and David's book at the links below:Swords of Illumination- by David OlcottSamurai Success websiteSamurai Success InstagramSamurai Success on FacebookSupport the showUntil next time, go get uncomfortable.Schedule a free strategy call with us at EnlightenedAthlete.com to learn how we can help you remotely with exercise & movement programs, stress management, breathwork, and nutrition coaching!Connect with us by shooting us an email at info@enlightenedathlete.comFind Shae on Facebook HEREFind us on Instagram HEREFind us on twitter HERE
Today's guest is Dr. Faraz Harsini. He's a cultivated meat bioprocessing scientist at the Good Food Institute and the founder and CEO of Allied Scholars for Animal Protection – a nonprofit that supports and mentors student advocates and future vegan leaders for the abolition of cruelty to humans and nonhumans. Dr. Harsini appeared on the podcast in episode 256, in which we discussed his upbringing in Iran as a member of the LGBT community, his advocacy work on college campuses, and a myriad of social justice issues, but the conversation was so powerful, and there was so much ground we didn't get to cover, especially about his current work, that we had to have him back. So whether or not you listened to the first part of our interview with him, you definitely want to stay with us as we tackle some serious topical issues that pertain to everyone. “I guess the reason that I promote a plant-based diet and veganism full-time today is because I did my entire master's on cancer, and I worked on proteins involving cancer. And the fact that nobody ever mentioned diet at all, like I'm not talking about my research, no one, even those textbooks. And it had to come as a surprise to me when I like had to learn it by myself, and then you looked at it and you realized that every single Cancer Institute in the world says the less meat you eat, the better. Every single Cancer Institute in the world, and some even include Dairy and other types of meat, but when it comes to processed and unprocessed red meat, every single Cancer Institute in the world says the less meat you eat, the better.” - Dr. Faraz Harsini What we discuss in this episode: - The complete protein myth and why plants are such a powerful source of protein. - What happens when you cook and eat red meat? - The benefits of cultivated meat production. - The dangers posed to humans from animal experimentation. - The cruelty Dr. Harsini witnessed while visiting a dairy farm in Texas. - Dr. Harsini's thoughts on changing our food system. - The importance of speaking up as a vegan.
