In this episode, I turn to confidence, particularly the kind of confidence that often wobbles in mid-career.When roles change, expectations shift, or you begin to question your direction, confidence can take a knock. Not because you've lost your ability, but because many of the external markers we rely on, such as job titles, seniority, or organisational status, start to feel less secure. In this episode, I explore why confidence can feel fragile at this stage of a career, and why reassurance or positive thinking alone rarely helps. Instead, I introduce a more grounded approach to confidence, one built from evidence.I share a simple but powerful writing exercise called the Highlight Reel. It helps you notice moments where you were effective, energised, or at your best, and turn those experiences into clear evidence of what you bring. Not for performance reviews or interviews, but for yourself. This kind of confidence grows quietly. It comes from seeing your own strengths clearly, naming them, and trusting what you already know about how you work best.If you're navigating change, considering your next move, or finding that your confidence hasn't quite caught up with your thinking, this episode offers a practical way to steady yourself and move forward. You can explore these ideas further in my book Write Your Career, which brings together reflective tools and practical exercises to support mid-career growth. Episode 150: Not Every Week Is a Highlight ReelNot every National School Counseling Week looks like a highlight reel, and that's okay.In this reflective episode, I share a personal experience from my own school where carefully made plans for National School Counseling Week were replaced by grief, crisis response, and the need to simply be present for students and staff. This episode is for counselors who felt exhausted, unseen, or overwhelmed, and for anyone who needed permission to let something go.In this episode, I cover:Why National School Counseling Week can feel complicated and emotionalHow unexpected events can shift even the best-laid plansWhat it means to truly “do enough” as a school counselorWhy quiet work still matters, even when it isn't celebratedA moment from the episode that I hope stays with you:“Sometimes doing what we can with what we have is the most realistic and compassionate choice.”If National School Counseling Week didn't look the way you hoped, if you stayed quiet, or if you focused on crisis instead of celebration, I want you to know this: you didn't fail. You're human. And the work you do every day still makes a difference.Thank you for being here and for all you give to this profession.Mentioned in this episode:Perks Membership

Are you tired of endless scrolling, online drama, and highlight-reel success stories that make you feel behind? In this raw episode of Talkin' Shop, Brandon Bombardo and Nick " The Thermometer" Peters deliver the wake-up call every shop owner needs in 2026: the internet is loud and emotional, but real business growth happens quietly — off the apps and in the shop. Close the phone, open the doors, and get to work. They dive into why social feeds show wins without the grind, sacrifices, late nights, failures, and unglamorous tasks like refining processes, training teams, fixing issues, and improving cycle times. Brandon shares honest reflections on self-doubt, reinvesting instead of coasting, crying in the car, and the pride of generational businesses. They discuss drowning out noise, focusing on what you control (quality, consistency, service, reputation), and why preparation beats outrage every time. Tangents on flats vs. drums, rectangle pizza, and mozzarella sticks keep it real and human — because even serious talks need some fun. This isn't about going viral; it's about consistent, behind-the-scenes discipline that compounds into lasting success. Whether you're running a CNC router, plasma table, fiber laser, or any shop, the message is clear: builders build — they don't scroll. Arsenal return from Elland Road with a four-goal win that extends their lead at the top, but the performance itself sparks plenty of debate. The pod breaks down a strange afternoon in Leeds — from a late line-up shock and Bukayo Saka pulling out in the warm-up, to a disjointed opening that gradually turned into set-piece control and second-half authority. There's discussion around Arsenal's reliance on corners, Noni Madueke's growing influence, and why the scoreline ultimately flattered Leeds more than it reflected Arsenal's grip on the game.Attention then turns to Martin Ødegaard's impact off the bench and a wider conversation about control, runners, and whether Arsenal's system is currently helping or hindering their key players. The panel also debates the shift in shape, what the numbers really say about the performance, and why this felt like “business done” rather than a statement win.In Part Two, a major injury update drops live during recording, raising fresh questions about depth and priorities as the season enters a decisive phase. There's also a full Whip Around the Grounds from Matchweek 24, another packed VARse segment dissecting controversial decisions across the league, and a look ahead to Chelsea at the Emirates with Wembley at stake.A routine win on paper — with bigger questions bubbling underneath.Chapters:(00:00) - Arteta's Non-Negotiables Intro(00:54) - Leeds Away: Line-Up Shock & Saka Pulls Out(04:04) - A Scrappy Start & Why Arsenal Looked Dull(06:38) - 0-1 | Set-Piece FC: Zubimendi Breaks the Deadlock(08:42) - 0-2 | Chaos at Corners & Madueke's Growing Influence(12:16) - Second-Half Sloppiness & Missed Kill Shots(15:55) - Odegaard Enters & Instantly Controls the Game(17:11) - 0-3 | Martinelli's Cross, Gyökeres Reacts, Game Over(19:04) - Odegaard Debate: Has He Looked Better Off the Bench?(25:48) - Saka, Runners & The System Problem(30:48) - 0-4 | Jesus Responds: From Net-Negative to Highlight Reel(33:00) - Stats Don't Tell the Story of a 4-0 Win(36:14) - Shape Shift: From 4-3-3 to 4-4-2(42:10) - PT.2 Bombshell: Merino Likely Out for the Season(44:48) - Whip Around the Grounds: Matchweek 24(54:22) - VARse: Brighton, Old Trafford & Villa Park Chaos(01:12:00) - Chelsea Preview: Injuries, Rotation & Wembley Stakes(01:19:20) - Closing

Send us a textThis week on Ruck's Place, we're talking about what it really means to be the face of your brand. Not the highlight reel. Not the polished version. The uncomfortable, repetitive, quiet work that nobody claps for—until it works.I break down why consistency beats talent, why attention doesn't equal income, and why waiting for permission is the fastest way to stay stuck. If you've been showing up but not seeing the results you want, this episode will help you tighten the message, own your voice, and lead anyway. This one's for the builders, the creators, and the people who decided comfort is no longer an option.Support the show

We reflect on how public tributes contrast with the quiet, personal highlights that define a life. A simple daily question—“Is this choice highlight‑reel worthy?”—becomes a compass for kindness, empathy, and legacy.• Seeing public highlight reels spark a deeper look at private legacy• Rethinking age and what counts as accomplishment• Defining a personal highlight reel built on values• Choosing daily acts of kindness, patience and help• Practicing empathy, gentleness and repair over perfection• Letting words others use about us guide our priorities• Using a simple question to shape choices and habits• Closing challenge to add one worthy act each dayThanks for joining me on this week's Mindful Moment. If you've ever looked at a successful woman and wondered how she really built it — you're not alone. Behind every thriving business is a story that doesn't always show up on social media. In this episode, Melissa Joy, CFP®, talks with Veronica McGibney, creator of LeadHer Magazine, a new print and digital publication dedicated to sharing the real, behind-the-scenes journeys of female founders.Veronica shares how a moment of clarity at a business retreat sparked the creation of Lead Her, and how that idea quickly grew into a platform spotlighting women's honest experiences — from uncertainty and burnout to growth, resilience, and long-term vision. Together, Melissa and Veronica discuss why branding is more than marketing, how visibility impacts opportunity and funding, and why telling the full story matters for women building businesses today. You'll learn:Why branding plays a critical role in both business growth and personal clarityHow moments of uncertainty can signal it's time to pivot or reassessWhat inspired the creation of Lead Her Magazine and its missionThe realities women founders face that often stay behind the scenesWhy visibility remains a challenge for women-led businessesPractical ways founders manage time, priorities, and competing responsibilitiesIf you're building something, considering a pivot, or looking for a more honest picture of what success really takes, this conversation offers insight and perspective.Resources:Learn more about Lead Her Magazine: leadhermagazine.com Connect with Veronica McGibney on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/veronicamcgibneyFollow Lead Her Magazine on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/leadhermagazine/The previous presentation by PEARL PLANNING was intended for general information purposes only. Welcome to the very first episode of Mom's & Margaritas — a raw, relatable, and long overdue series for every woman trying to build a life, a business, and a family… without losing her mind in the process. As an entrepreneur and a mom of five, the number one question I get is: "How do you juggle it all?" And here's the truth… I don't. Life comes in seasons — the ups, the downs, the chaos, the breakthroughs — and today, we're pulling back the curtain on all of it. In this kickoff episode, I sit down with my good friend Amanda Kelly to share: ✨ The dark + the light side of entrepreneurship ✨ What really happens behind the scenes (the stuff Instagram never shows) ✨ How motherhood shapes us as leaders ✨ Why you're not failing — you're just in a season ✨ The moments that almost broke us… and the ones that built us If you've ever felt like you're dropping balls left and right, questioning your path, or wondering how everyone else is "doing it all"… this episode is your reminder that you're not alone — and you're doing better than you think.
